I chose the sellotape below the sill because it's transparent, concealing the tape itself even when the doors are closed. I tried the 3M too on the same spot before but it doesn't really look the way I want it. Mounting of the sellotape is kinda catchy. Surface area should be cleaned. I mean cleaned as detailed. Small soots or dust would ruin it while sticking the tape on. If you have observed the way how window tints are installed, it's the same exact way.
Appreciate the tip, leinahtan! Was originally thinking of the 3M for the rear sill to protect it during loading/unloading in the 'trunk,' since there is no OEM protector yet for the 2009 mods, but I will consider it now for the passenger sills as well--maybe even for the plastic step material beside it. If I decide to remove it after a year or two, I guess WD-40 should do the trick?

    Thank you!

Since you're too concern about scratches especially at the trunk, why not install a rear bumper step guard like this:

If you want to remove the tapes, just simply peel it. WD-40 can also be useful. But for stubborn adhesive residues, I use 3m adhesive remover.

For the tint, I chose medium.

After you get your new ride... check the tire pressure the next morning.
I did this after a week coz I was confident that they (casa) followed the correct tire pressure.

Guess what I got? My tire pressure ranges from 47 to 49 psi!!! All tires have different pressure in them.

So be sure to check them.

Dont rely on cheap stick-type tire pressure gauge, it is so unreliable and inaccurate. Buy those round one or even the electronic type if you have a budget. Or go to shell gas station, their air hose with tire pressure gauge is very accurate.

Check to see if the gas cover and hood are functioning on the right release levers. I had mine, when they delivered the unit at my doorstep, that the gas cover lever opens the hood and the hood lever opens the gas cover. I drove off the next day to the dealer and have them fixed it.

masters trebuchet, leinahtan, and robenson, thanks for the inputs..

by the way how can i check for the rustproofing/undercoating?

how to check if the battery's maintenance free (the dealer told me, it's maintenance free),

how to check proper foglamp installation? (freebie with wheel well covers, as per dealer said)

how to check alarm and power locks, keyless entry? (freebie too)

with regards to the tint, i will go for the dark only for the visor on the windshield, the rest would be medium.

rain 11, thanks bro, i will definitely enjoy my new ride.. especially with my soon to be son, coming this august, yawee!

by the way i am looking forawrd to be a part of the innova club, are their any requirements?

For undercoating, they spray a thick black sticky tar-like substance on the underside of the vehicle. To check for it, look into one of the wheel arches and see if its coated in black (usually still wet for a few weeks after application).

This one is an example of a maintenance-free battery. Notice how it does not have any operable caps for you to fill in water later on.

    You're Welcome!

    Number001 answered questions 1 & 2...

    3. To check foglamp, it should work when you turn it on.
I'm not sure on the J model, but in most models the wiring for the foglamps are already pre-installed less the relay, the fuse and the switch.

    4. Is the alarm the factory installed one?
To check for the power locks, when you open/close the driver side door... it should open/close all the other 4 doors.

    5. Innova Club has two class of memberships:
    A. Class 1 - has an innova and actively participates in the forums
    B. Class 2 - class 1 plus and also attends EB's. Coz the stickers are only given during EB's

If my friends can make it on their old, well maintained 4x2 picksups, motorbikes and vans, i dont see why the Innova can't.

If you buy a new unit, best to bring it past the 1,000km service/break in mark before going on your long trip. If its a second hand unit, give it a service-over (change all filters and fluids, check your belts and tires, a/c, etc.) and drive it around a bit before going on your trip.

C! Mag used a gasoline Innova G as their backup vehicle on a roro trip/story before.

    thanks trebuchet and number001

for the undercoating, ive checked it and it's all black, however the support for the muffler has no undercoating, it has actually signs of rusting, should this also be undercoated too? and also the muffler?

for the battery, my dealer told me it was maintenance free but it has opening caps, should i really need to demand a maintenance free battery?

for the foglamps, they will be installed during my 1K pms, dealer alibied that foglamps are still being order, (BuwiSet!)

central locks are OK, just the remote, the alarm button and alarm off button does not function, hehe, you'll use the unlock button to turn off the alarm..

despite the flaws, i still love my new innova, just noticed that it's slow on acceleration (because of VVTi maybe), and the shift lever is quite hard especially on reverse and 5th gear,

i will be noting these issues, hope none more would come, for my 1k pms

    thanks fellow tsikoteers

    any inputs would be appreciated
