My question, like Dr. D, is anyone in our government keeping count of the vaccine procurements? Eventually, all LGUs will be buying their own supply of vaccines. Syempre sasabihin ng constituents nila, bakit si ganitong city kaya bumili, dapat tayo din. And then the national government also buys vaccines. Sayang lang ang pera if sumobra ang bili.

Indonesia gives emergency approval to a vaccine from a Chinese company - The New York Times

At a news conference, Indonesia’s Food and Drug Administration said it had endorsed the vaccine developed by Sinovac, a Beijing-based vaccine maker, after its interim analysis showed that the inoculation had an efficacy rate of 65.3 percent.

Jarir At Thobari, a representative for the National Committee for Drug Assessment, said the efficacy rate of CoronaVac, the name of the Sinovac vaccine, was lower compared with the recent announcements from Sinovac’s trials in Brazil and Turkey because the Indonesia trial, was made up of members of the general public, compared with the volunteers in Brazil and Turkey, who were health care workers or from high-risk groups. A higher number of people who are infected would bring the efficacy rates higher, Dr. At Thobari said.

Dr. Rizka Andalucia, the Indonesian F.D.A.’s drug registration director, said that 25 people got Covid-19 from the trial but did not reveal whether they were volunteers or people who got the placebo. He declined to provide the number of both groups in the trial.

That is actually the job of the Vaccine Czar. That is why orders for vaccine by the LGU's has to go thru the Vaccine Czar , may records dapat sila niyan, even the private companies who want to purchase the vaccine themselves due to the slow action of the government still has to pass thru the vaccine czar.

i wasn't able to watch the senate hearing on the vaccine procurement but i understand Dr. D's frustration.

Maybe due to the slow government movement that we ended up with Sinovac as the first ones to arrive. It maybe because of our procurement law or maybe because the other vaccine producers are asking too much.
The question we should ask right now is how many lives will have been saved or people not get infected if we start the vaccine this march with Sinovac as opposed to waiting for the Western vaccine arrival in the 3rd Quarter of 2021?

no one really knows how long the effectivity of protection will be.
