The need to be continuously careful during this pandemic cannot be emphasized too much. The business community has surely heard of the passing of the owner of Chocnut. His son is a good friend of my brother in law. In spite of all our warnings and having an 84 year old father at home my brother in law continued to say the virus is nothing and constantly was at the house of his friend.
His friend came down with covid allegedly getting it from his stay out driver passed it to his wife, dad and mom and my brother in law. Because of that and with some in laws visiting my father in law a small panic ensued requiring testing of everyone involved and voluntary self quarantined for those with symptoms. The owner of Chocnut succumbed after two days in the hospital in spite of convalescent plasma transfusions and other medications because he also had a heart condition. These are high risk activities which I would advise against:
1. Don't visit or accept visitors to your home
2. Eating out in enclosed restaurants with people not keeping social distancing
3. Going to enclosed spaces frequented by a lot of people esp without face mask or shield
4. Drinking laughing together in groups karaoke in groups
5. Bringing children out in spite of the gcq. Children may be liwcrisk for severe covid symptoms but they act as carriers more than adults and bring the disease back to adults at home
I know everyone is bored with staying at home and not being able to enjoy their favourite restaurants or visit their friends. But as you've seen in our case or have experienced yourself, when you or someone close to you gets sick it is not only that person who is at risk but others around them.
A friendly reminder to all. This thing is not yet over even when a vaccine is in place. The vaccine doesn't mean you are totally protected or not infective still. 40 percent of the population must be vaccinated before a herd immunity can occur. Also remember that people who got over the virus do not necessarily have permanent immunity. We have had many employees get infected. A study in UK at Oxford showed that antibody levels in people who recovered from covid start dropping after three months keep safe all!
