140 kph at NLEX for a few seconds only. But, that's the top speed I can take. Faster than this, my heart beats faster too for fear of accident and apprehension. I think Carens can do more.

I was cruising back to Manila on the NLEX from Baguio 4 months ago, upon looking at the speedometer, little did I know that I was already doing 140kph. I slowed down to around 110kph...fastest I ever drove in my life. Sure, the carens could definitely do much more than 140kph, depende lang sa dibdib ng driver and of course, passengers. Drive safely![]()
hmm.. I once did a 170 km/h burst on the skyway, I just let go of the pedal when I saw the speed. had I let on, I think 180 is easy.I would not do that again.
just last weekend, the folks at nlex just confirmed how fast the carens could go by giving me a speeding ticket![]()
hey guys thanks for the info.
I see them holding papers checking platenumbers and car type. Mukhang ni-raradyo sa kanila. Unless they have sophisticated monitoring devices na pati licence plate kuha picture while traveling at 180kph. Don't quote me though haka-haka lang.
Re Carens, I went to Baguio last Feb 15, briefly hit 160kph.Ayoko din mahuli at mag-seminar.
Engine wasnt roaring much, about 3000rpm lang. Mukhang kayang kaya 200kph nito, di pa sagad paa ko. Nakakangawit nga e, feathering the accelerator.
Doon sa part ng NLEX, bandang san simon, most of the time konti cars, so pwede magpabilis ng sandali.
And the climb to Baguio via marcos hiway? Sisiw!! I was doing 60-70kph doon sa last 3km climb, thats right after the tunnel.
Sa crosswind ko primera na iyan. haha! I'd say mas powerful ang carens sa climb compared to: Trooper '98, Honda Civic VTi '99, '99Nissan frontier 4x4, and maybe comparable/better than Chevy Venture 3.0 V6!
Yes, thats how good and powerful the Carens CRDi is!
BTW, overtaking is a breeze in macarthur hiway, from 90kph-120ph sandali lang ang acceleration. Very nice car indeed!

Woohoo!!! My car plan was finally approved!!!! Konting tulog nalang... :D
Just this monday, I reached 180 easy passing a pick up doing 170 on my way back to caticlan(boracay). I didn't notice that i reached that speed coz i was following a strada. When I check in C! mag, the new strada (CRDi version nila ) has the same power and torque with our carens kaya naman pala mabilis din. Walang radar dito sa amin, kaya medyo napabilis ng kunti...hehehe.![]()
Correction lang. I sped up to 150 kph. The 140 kph was with my Innova Gas.

I hit 110kph at 2k rpm, more than 140kph at a little more than 2.5k rpm and hit 160kph at a steady 3k rpm. fastest was at 170kph at nlex.
i know it can and will easily breach the 200kph mark if allowed.
I'm now averaging 10.5 km/ltr with my crdi lx mt. lowest was at 9km/ltr in a pure city driving condition and hit the highest of 12km/ltr in pure highway driving.
I'm indeed very satisfied! for now...
tama si bogart, you're already doing 110 kph at only 2krpm! so maganda pa rin fuel consumption and at the same time, alam mong meron pang ibibigay na power.
marga, we chose her for the following reasons:
1 - seating capacity. like wavecxs, you can easily transform her into a 7 seater when you need to.
2 - crdi technology. although this is my first time to actually own a crdi engine, it has already proven itself with the starex van. if you notice, the engine is actually a hyundai so you know you've got a good quality engine.
3 - ease of ingress/egress. i love the ease of getting in and out of the car. the seats are laid out that they're almost hip level so napakadaling pumasok.
4 - build quality. overall, the build quality is impressive. notice the gaps on the doors are quite good. the dashboard, while is of course plastic, maganda pa rin pagkakabuo.
5 - overall aesthetics. she has that euro/sheet metal look which isn't too distracting. hindi siya maraming moldings or other features that 'scream' for attention. some call her "dorky" pero i think otherwise.
some people still close attention to the low ground clearance but i just tell myself it isn't an suv so i don't treat her that way. the wheel base, is you notice, is almost the same as a mazda 3 (http://www.mazda.com.ph/servlet/Cont...ault&c=DFYPage). you just have to treat her different as you would an suv, sports/super car, a truck, a bus, etc diba?
i'm very satisfied with her.
After reading this thread ay I am more leaning towards Carens, thanks din sa mga nag-post ng reviews and other website regarding carens/rondo. I intend to buy after enrollment ng 3 kids ko so I still have time to shop around for more info regarding which family car will suit us best, AT only because our previous car was lancer box type AT. Actually Fusion or Carens ang pinagpipilian ko. FC not an issue kasi as an OFW, every other month lang magagamit during my vacation and weekend pa.
May reservation lang ako sa Carens regarding sa ground clearance nya, wala bang problem sa baha even loaded? TIA
thanks sir for sharing malaki ang matutulong nito para samin im already 99%sure that caren will surely the best car for us. SIr san po ninyo nakuha ang caren ninyo what are the freebies that u got from ur SA.
