If I were to pick between LX and EX. I'll get EX variant. It's definitely worth the extra 125k. I got a quote for 16" and 17" OEM alloy wheels for Carens and its around 9k each. Other thing is if you get the LX and plan to upgrade like Fogs, roof rails, etc. Madidisapoit lang kayo for the workmanship ng casa. They never replaced the whole wiring and bypass the fusebox.

Btw. Wala pakong Carens. I plan to get one soon. but based on my experience from Picanto to upgrade accessories to look like ex variant. A simple 3rd brake light installation pala you have to change the whole wiring or electrical versus the cut and tape procedure of casa or banaue.

Mschumacher, so far i've no problems with my suspension...

afaik, ang kinabit lang locally ng winterpine is the alarm (except for the ex variant na halatang galing hyundai mobis), tint, back up sensors. we were having merienda at a red ribbon outlet and i noticed someone with a winterpine ID eating next to us at tinanong ko siya. kinonfirm niya yun mga nilalagay nila sa stockyard pa lang.

funny this morning as i was loading some stuff sa likod, biglang tumunog yung "alarm" although hindi ko alam paano nag trigger!

So the auto lock feature is not OEM but installed by winterpine or after market accessory?

Hey guys, Kia Libis had an "Executive Weekend Sale" yesterday and they offered a lot of pre-owned Kia vehicles there at great prices! These vehicles were used by their executives and are now being sold off at pre-owned prices. Most of them had around 5,000kms on their odo and if you bought them, they would still give their 3-year/110,000km warranty!

For Carens, they only had the gas EX variant... I saw a blue one, a violet one and a white one... they were selling them for only P898,000 and the price was still slightly negotiable! Not a bad deal altogether!

Personally, I would still want a CRDi version though but if this gas variant will be allowed under our car plan, it's not a bad idea to consider.

newbie po...planning to acquire carens, ask lang po ng inputs ninyo between the trim level EX GAS AT and EX CRDI AT, alin po ba mas tatagal ang life? i heard that our diesel is not clean and could easily damage CRDI? Sa FC po ng dalawa, alin po ang mas economical? TIME will come baka mas mahal pa ang Diesel kaysa sa Gas. Appreciate whatever inputs lalo na po sa mga currently having these variants. salamat po.

yeah I was informed of that event. one of the SA of kia tiendesitas called me and said that they will have a 1 day sale. so I went there last friday and I thought that they would be offering a discounted price for their brand new unit. Instead they are selling their executive used car units. Well got to talk with my SA and they offered 230k for my lancer 97. it was due to their trade in promo. I already want the deal except for the fact that they have only the 08 stocks of carens only.

May display dito sa Baguio kahapon sa Baguio Car Show sa Convention Center ng mga Kia units(Courtesy of Delta Motors, a new Kia Dealer here in Baguio). Carens was one of them. The demo units (including the Picanto, and the Carnival) were being offered for 10% less..Im not sure kung cash basis and/or sa financing yon but when I checked the Odo, it was already running for 3,000+ mks..hmmm..

afaik, for the lx variants, winterpine installs the after market accessory for the alarm (not sure about the brand nga lang). but i think the auto lock is factory...

Depends where you fill up. You have to be careful, kasi. If you treat a CRDi right, you won't get any injector problems till long after 100,000 kms, at which point, a gasoline engine will be needing maintenance too (for things like injectors, ignition coils, etcetera). You can ask at Kia how much the injector sets are. Program that amount into your calcuations against the fuel savings you expect from the diesel to see if it's worth it.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

ang haba na nitong thread na to! heheh. nakakainggit naman kau. enjoy na kau sa mga carens niyo. kami muntik na bumili after test driving it. i was lucky to drive it. sabi ko sa dad ko, siya nalang pero ako pinadrive. hehe.

we tested the lx crdi m/t. SARAP!! hehe sarap ihataw.7 kami and it was so easy to reach forbiden speeds. tuwa ako i reached 120km/h na walang hirap. the SA said kayang kaya niyan 190km/h.. i looked at my dad and he said " cge bilisan mo pa." we reach 140km/h but un fortunately we had to exit the highway coz the next exit was kinda far na. damn, it was alot of fun. i was like smiling the whole time. hahaha. when we got back sa showroom, we steped out and everyone was smiling too. bumaon ata yung katawan ko sa seats sa lakas ng hatak. hehehe. unfortunately we have to delay our purchase.

so thats my story. just wanted to share. sana we get one soon coz i just can wait!

anyway, un lang nmn. and guys, kip posting pics and updates.. :D

btw, feedback po sa tiptronic. mabilis ba response and ok ba ratios?

To all of you who are planning to get a Carens... go ahead, you won't get disappointed!!! I am a proud owner of an almost five month old Carens Crdi LX At...actually just had my 5000KM PMS this morning. The ride is great, the fuel consumption hovers around 8.5 to 9 km/l and the power is amazing!
So far, no problems with the suspension and engine... medyo mababa lang talaga ang ground clearance which really takes time to get used to.
By the way, I use Shell diesel...okay naman

Glad to know you're using Shell diesel, bro. Our company uses the Shell fleet card so I kinda don't have a choice on fuel. In any case, I was always a loyal Shell customer so once I get my Carens, I'll be using Shell as well.

Bought my 2008 Carens EX last mid Jan. Odo is now 1400km and my FC is 9.8 km/li city driving! No complaints so far except (perhaps only) the low clearance.

I have decided to get the Carens, just looking for a decent test drive (on roads that I really use). I was looking at the specs, and the min ground clearance is lower than my 2001 City. May portion dun na sumasabit yung City ko pag 5 sakay. Since the Carens has a longer wheelbase and around half an inch lower, I'm thinking na baka sumabit.... as soon as I prove na hindi sasabit, benta ko na yung City and bili na ng Carens! Anyone willing to take the challenge? Haha

Oo nga pala, saan ba spare tire ng Carens? Thanks!

My LX MT has the AVT alarm. It automatically locks the doors when you depress the brake pedal while the engine is running or the key is in "ON" position, and all the doors are closed. And it automatically unlocks when you turn off the engine.

By the way, FC is at steady 10-10.5 kms/ltr mixed city/highway driving using shell diesel. My odometer is now at 3,500 kms. Bought it mid Dec 2007 at Kia Cubao.

my complaint so far: di kasya sa likod yung 1 golf bag.
