I was really thinking ( or maybe hoping :D ) that my ride would get 330-350k. Nababaan lang ako sa 300max kasi nga sabi ni Schumi 200K ang appraisal sa itlog niya. kaya nga po gusto ko malaman kung saang casa un kaso di na yata niya maalala.

sir wavecsx san niyo po binili unit nyo and ano freebies aside from the usual?

the difference of the LX and EX are not really necessities... all the basics are available already sa LX models. but if you want to add all the items not found on the LX model later, I would suggest getting the EX agad. Kung tingi-tingi ang bili, you will just end up spending more by upgrading your LX to an EX. hope this helps....

As for me, the main reasons why I will choose the EX over the LX are:

    1. Biggest reason is my desire to have roof rails - since there will be times when I will fully use the space inside the Carens for passengers, I might not have enough space for cargo inside the vehicle. Hence, I will need space for cargo which can only be done by putting cargo on the roof. So, I would rather have the factory-installed roof rail of the EX rather than have it manually installed on an LX (because this latter option might run the risk of premature rusting).

    2. Second, I'm pretty sure I'll never be satisfied with having steel rims with hubcaps. I'm pretty sure I would eventually want to buy alloy wheels - and the stock alloy wheels are pretty nice.

    3. I like the chrome accents on the EX. While this may be just cheap to add on the LX, it's a good "bonus freebie" when you get the EX.

Oh, and don't forget the driver's side airbag on the EX - a safety feature that I would love to have since I will be using this car as my daily commuter

Well in the long run I supposed that you'll be changing your rims anyway so lx is good enough

Do you think that the price discrepancy of 125k can cover up the added features of the ex. I think you can get this on the aftermarket already. not as good but it can do also. The high trade in appraisal is just for columbian motors only not wheels outlet. I asked their SA yesterday and they didn't know anything about it. Come to think of it. the SA for wheels dont know anything about their cars. I know a lot more than them because of this thread.

Hi there... Just repeating what I stated earlier.
I bought an EX model last Jan 08.
I very much satisfied with the performance except for the AUTO LOCK and Alarm systems. Apparently, very different sila with the LX model. Per the SA from the Quirino Ext dealership, Euro standard na daw yung 2008 EX model:
    a) The EX doors do not automatically lock/unlock when you start the engine. It also does not automatically lock when the car speed reaches 40-50 km/hr as vouched for by their sales people.
    b) Security alarm is armed only after 30-45 seconds after clicking the remote.
    c) Masyadong mahina ang busina.

Does your EX also have the same "features"?
How about the other EX owners???

Hi bro bluebeard, I still don't have my Carens but based on this thread and based on my own research, those were my reasons for deciding to get an EX rather than an LX. Ummm... when you say Euro standard na yung 2008 EX model, does that mean that your gripes on your 2007 model were fixed on the 2008 model - namely the auto door lock and unlock?

Yup! That's my main gripe cuz the auto door lock and unlock feature is standard w/ my Tucson and previous cars.

Teka, now I'm confused.... so, if I understood it correctly, you have a 2008 model and are pissed because the auto door lock & unlock feature (which was standard in the 2007 model) is no longer available in the 2008 model?

Darn, dapat i checked it this morning pala. Kia Pasig came over to our office with a demo unit for the employees who wanted to testdrive the Carens....

hi there, just a quick question, would anyone know the PCD of the carens? is it the same as the sportage/tucson? i've been reading this thread, the sportage and tucson's and been leaning towards this one and the sportage.

    thanks!

Re in checking ur testdrive unit, the 2008 LX model still has the auto door lock & unlock feature unlike the 2008 EX.

That seems unusual... to remove a feature from the higher-end EX and retain it on the lower-end LX... what was Kia thinking???

Kia added a lock-unlock button at the passenger side. Ito yata yung Euro stardard. Wala ito sa LX model.

From the previous comments, for the 2008 EX, wala na rin yung glove compartment light and the rear storage light although the 2 room light buttons were changed for the better (door-off-on sliders compared to just the on-off switch)

For EX models, factory installed yung security system (door locks, alarm, etc.), meaning sa Korea kinabit. For LX, dito lang sa atin (sa Bicutan plant / warehouse). I know this kasi kinakausap ko yung nagkabit ng backing sensor and he said they also install the alarms for the LX. This is probably the reason why LX alarms vary between dealerships and EX are all the same.

Well.... I guess that is better - that the security system is factory installed.
