Hehehe... you know what? Although I may sound a bit "knowledgeable" about the Carens, I readily admit that all my knowledge comes from this forum and from the internet. I still don't have my Carens, unfortunately. I'll be availing of my company's car plan (I'll cover whatever balance will not be covered by the car plan - so, it will be paid in cash). Kainis nga kasi everyone here knows just how impatient I'm getting - ang tagal ng approval ng car plan ko!!! Oh well... good things come to those who wait.

tucson crdi has two air bags, yes but when it comes to performance, mas malakas ang carens. This is the irony of carens. malakas sya pero tangal naman ang safety features. Tucson crdi only hhp 112 hp and 181 torque while carens has 138 and 232vtorque seven seaters pa

With deleted accessories or parts of 2008 siguro pwede naman kumuha ng part nun for the cabin light, keyhole etc. Para sa airbags naman and ABS and EBD. Pwede kaya magpakabit lang after getting the LX variant?

As we know all city driving consumed a lot of gasoline especially traffic, so if during traffic shift/use the shifttronic instead of automatic, it means you just like a munual, please try........

What you quoted is correct. My Innova is gas while my Carens is diesel. For both vehicles, I only start my engine if I'm ready to leave. I don't idle for even a minute as this is a waste of fuel.

basically, I don't warm up the engine for more than a minute before I go out each morning. After starting the engine, I fasten my seatbelt, open the windows a bit and tune the radio to my am station and off I go.

Maiba nga tayo... why is it that carens isn't in the same category as innova? Caren is only 10mm shorter but 30mm wider than innova...and definitely much bigger and more powerful than Avanza. Do you think it was fair to compete avanza to carens?

Well I think it's not a good thing to do. Somehow mas mura ang fuel kesa pa repair ng engine since pwedeng magka premature failure dahil di man lang nakaka circulate lubricating oil sa system tapos takbo na agad. If it's overnight na naka stop kailangan talaga warm up muna.

Hey peeps I'm new here. Been wondering if somebody here has both Innova and carens (diesel engine of course). I'm kinda curious of these 2 models. Which is a better buy. Built, look and image wise. Suspension and everything. Pros and cons of both.

Well, I've been doing that since time immemorial for the 5 cars I've owned. And nothing bad happened to my engines. What is important is you don't race right after starting up. And if possible don't turn on the aircon yet.

i think it boils down to your preference. it's going to be a long debate since none of us will claim to have experienced any problems with our engines based on "start-then-run". wala naman sigurong magbubukas ng makina sa atin to verify this.

i think the opinion that warming up your engine wastes gas is valid naman. siyempre, you're consuming gas in those 5 minutes. also, i agree with j_avonni na you don't "race" it right away after driving off in the morning, for example.

siguro it might be different for other engines like carb-type ones. like my "itlog" lancer na EL. i cannot just drive off kasi may auto-choke feature siya. idling settles down only after i've run here for about 5 minutes. it's a bit irritating to drive off immediately kasi sumisibat siya everytime you change gears since nasa 2k idling speed ng makina. iba din kasi efi, nakapako sa 800 lang idling kahit kaka-start mo.

siguro it won't hurt to let her run a minute or two for the oil to lubricate the entire engine area. and, like j_avonni, huwag agad hataw pag alis.

I am perfectly happy with my 4 month old Carens LX... FC is ok at 8.5 to 9km/l for 100% city driving, given it is an AT. I am happy with the inside features as well as the outside. only downside is the low ground clearance... hope this would help you

- its size is just right.. its a 5-seater with a big cargo that can easily transform into a 7-seater when the need arises. its big but small enough to squeeze along the busy streets and quite easy to park anywhere.
- it got a refined diesel engine (for its price range and category) e.g. good NVH rating/performance.
- just to re-iterate the fantastic seating layout.
- it's a van that doesn't look like a van/or a car that somewhat looks like an suv/or an suv that somewhat drives like a car
- fuel economy of a 1.3L and the power of a 2L gasoline engine
- (we later found out that ) the engine is so powerful and is perfect for long drives on highways.

our carens is almost 4 months old and... so far so good!

Well said, Sir waxcxs. It's a crossover van/car/suv intead. It looks small but try to test drive one and you wil see it is truly quite spacious like a van, drives like a car and looks like a suv.

sir marga, The reason why I bought mine last dec was the 7 seats it offers and the value for money. What i got was a real nice car with lots of power.
