Strut bushing nga yung hinigpitan nung bago pa yung carnival ko. I had it change recently together with the rear damper bushings becasue durog na at metal to metal na ang tunog. Nas 58K km na ang Carnival ko.

Hi folks,
After failing to fix the high coolant consumption problem on my gas fueled sedona, Kia has committed to replace the coolant guzzling (and gas guzzling) engine under warranty. Kaso iimport pa raw sa korea. Kelan kaya darating yun? But, in fairness to Kia, the replacement was decided without any haggling. I was thinking if it would take a letter to DTI, like what my cousin did when his Isuzu trooper engine died while still under warranty. Well, I did not have to go through that. Kudos to Kia on that one.

thanks for the help. pero sa tingin ko wala sa mga auto supply nun kasi non-moving part eh.
update: tinawagan ko na mismo ung parts department ng columbian motors. hopefully by the end of the month DAW
ello carnival folks..
update on my carnival: wala pa rin ung nirerequest kong part
but i just made an interesting discovery on my carnival. probably your carnivals has this too. when i was filling my rear windscreen washer reservoir, i saw this string labeled "fuel filler door emergency release". so i yanked it and voila the fuel filler door opened! well at least i don't have to force open my fuel filler door when i gas up.
Hey, thanks for the tip. Yes, my Sedona also has this emergency release located in the same place.Originally Posted by benchph1
Anyway, I hope the part you need arrives soon. Medyo hirap nga yung Philippine Kia dealers sa pagkuha ng ibang parts. My front windshield suffered a hairline crack when the van was just a year old; natamaan ng bato sa highway. It took around four months before Wheels Inc. was able to get a replacement shipped from Korea.
i just read the manual of my carnival today and found another interesting thing regarding starting the engine. it says after cranking and the engine is running you have to pull and turn this lever counterclockwise. (ung katabi ng hood release lever) then after the engine has heated up return it to the previous position..ginagawa niyo ba to?
sabi rin dun pag daw hindi ginawa tataas ang emission rates.
ano yung knob na yan, yung choke knob? Tingnan ko bukas. Under what heading yan sa manual?
An emergency fuel filler door required for all vehicles using a remote (cable/electric) fuel door opener. But the Koreans have the easiest to use release systems.
The choke knob is used only for extreme cold weather starts (e.g. winter). You don't really have to use it in tropical weather. Emissions are only elevated until the engine has reached proper temperature. That's why you use the knob. To speed up the engine and to make it heat up faster.

altec,
under "driving your vehicle". ...starting the engine..
tama si otep..me sinabi dun na "this is to make the engine heat up faster"..engines are at their worst when they are cold. high-emission rates; sluggish performance. that's why bringing it to the optimum operating temperature fast makes sense in lowering emissions as what the manual said.
i tried to do this procedure this morning. unfortunately di ko nagawa. tsk. di ko alam kung disabled ung choke knob o sira. basta hindi ko siya mahila. try nio carnival peeps.
good news! dumating na ung inorder kung part. after 3 months of waiting :D
Congratulations on the long-awaited part arrival, sir.
I also trie operating the choke knob when I first got my Sedona, but like you, I couldn't pull the knob out. Seems the van's engine heats up just fine without it as long as you drive in low gear until the engine temp normalizes.
sa carnival namin ganito po ginagawa ko to operate the choke knob.
to engage:
I just turn the knob clockwise until di ko na sya maikot (notice na while turning the knob, sumasabay na nagmove down yun gas pedal)
to turn it off: turn the knob counter-clockwise
you may want to try it baka mag work din po sa inyo.
Hi all!
Our 2001 Kia Carnival Park II just lost it's reverse gear after changing ATF during it's 30,000km maintenance. Dexron III was used instead of Dexron II as specified (or as I discerned was specified) by the manual, which was in Korean. It still has it's forward gears up to 3rd but I'm not sure about 4th since I didn't dare drive it fast enough to engage 4th.
It still up-shifts smoothly but when I release the accelarator I could hear a little gear whine.
Oh well...
Thanks.
titikoy,
peculiar name..hehehe
i'd try what you said. thanks for the tip.
dacotyan,
do you mean when you engage the gear lever into reverse nothing happens?
have the shift lever cable checked.
benchph1, when I drove it after collecting the Carnival from the shop I noticed a little shudder when I backed up the ramp. I thought it was just lose gravel but when I tried to reverse through a speed bump from dead stop, the driveline judders badly. I got almost up to 3000 rpm that's when the engine suddenly dropped revs to idle and I didn't release the accelerator. It would still reverse from a level surface with no obstacles but it steadily lost its ability to reverse.
Somehow, I don't think its lose shifter cable.
By the way, that's the way the choke knob works on our Carnival. Turn clockwise until you feel resistance then turn it some more, rev the engine to see where you've adjusted it to your desired RPM, then repeat if needed. If you leave it for a while to warm up you'll notice that the idle has climbed when he engine is warmer. But I never use this, I just drive slowly with A/C compressor off for a minute or so then with A/C compressor on, driving normally when the temp needle is inside the first tick mark.
Thanks.
Check ATF level. Reverse is usually the first one that falters when ATF level is below spec or when the wrong ATF is used.

Otep, did that but I'll check again. Delco's Dexron III ATF was used at first then switched to a Mobil Dexron II in the hopes it'll work.
Thanks.
btw i read in my manual that the auto tranny uses dextron II-E atf fluid.
i just got to read this tread, so how is the performance of the sedona and carnival. The carnival naabutan ko when i was still managing a dealer. 2 different vehicles same problem. timing chain broke or jumped.
ok na ba ang carnival? how about the sedona??
benchph1, GM says Dexron III supercedes Dexron II and several other older GM formulation. Supposedly. I went for Dexron III because Dexron II is such a bear to find, took my gofer nearly a day to find it.
