when you notice that the force of the air coming out of the front vents are not as strong as it used to be, then the microfilter needs to be checked. you can opt to just vacuum it. but from my experience, the filter progressively gets clogged up faster after every cleaning. six months ago, i replaced the filter. the a/c worked fine since then.

btw: there is a note embossed on the side of the microfilter that says it has to be replaced every 12,000km. my mileage has gone past that figure since i had the new one installed, ok pa rin up to now.

If you are not switching to outside air and generally use the a/c with all the windows closed, you get by without the cabin filter.

I-share ko ang experience ng friend ko sa Carnival nya:

    1st year:
    -no problems

    2nd year:
-airconditioning kahit ano gawin, dehins na maibalik sa dati yung lamig kahit sa cas ana nya dinala.
-nasira yung speedometer sensor. 3600 ang ginastos. after a few months, nasira ulit. hindi na pinapalitan

3rd year: ika-third year lang three weeks ago.
-Nasira yung power steering. Cost of repairs sa casa: 30T.

Today: kundi ako nagkakamali, he is seriously thinking of selling the unit.

Tiningnan ko ang glove compartment. How do you remove the glove compartment? Can you post here the step by step procedure on how to remove and access the filter? Thanks! My unit is nearing 20K mileage. On 2% biodiesel, ok na ok.

by the way, I noticed that mabilis maubos yung battery ko if I don't use the car for several days maybe over 3 days. Bakit kaya? Is there an electrical drain somewhere? The only accessories I added were alarms, and upgraded sound system to complement the OEM DVD system, plus bosch black horns, and 130w plasma white high beam.

i just watched mine done by frigid-aire a/c shop and at coolbase and my local a/c shop in baguio. they opened the lower glove compartment and pulled it down. i think benchph is right with his instructions because the glove compartment was hanging upside-down afterwards.

there is a small rubber on the edges of the glove compartment. you can twist these to bring down the glove compartment. btw remove all of its contents before doing this.

the alarm maybe? i don't arm the car security system when our carnival is parked at home. or it maybe your upgraded headlights. the stock wires and harness is designed to handle only 60-55w bulbs.

    nicolodeleon,

perrenial problem talaga power steering ng carnival. palit na kong repair kit ang high pressure hose 10 mos. ago, ngayon may tulo na naman.
hindi maganda quality ng korean made hoses and rubbers. mas maganda pa locally - made.

Just buy better hoses and seals. Bridgestone hoses ang gamit ko as replacements.

altec, we experienced that in our 2000 carnival too, pero 1 day lang yung amin, wala ng power ang battery, the problem lies in the battery, so we got a bigger batt, but i don't know how big, coz the battery guy told me that diesel cars with a/t requires bigger batt, dont know if its true

I got the glove compartment down. But didnt see any filter. Saan yun? All I saw were plastic components. Do I have to remove these as well?

yung sa akin local 2003 sedona LS, so should be the same as your 02 sedona. Yung sa iyo, when you put down the bottom glove compartment (kasi may glove compartment din sa taas where the airbag is), you can see the filter right away?

Just finished talking with my kia service advisor contact. The microfilter is for gas model. Wala daw filter ang local diesel model.

went to the much-vaunted mang mario of pag-asa to have my microfilter cleaned yesterday. i took photos of how norman, mang mario's son disassembled the glove compartment. sayang, walang cf card reader tung netopia branch na to. i'll try to post them na lang when i find a shop with a cf reader here in bulacan.

altec: i took a photo of the underdash where the slot is. you don't see the filter right away. there is a plastic plate that covers the slot. siguro what the service advisor meant was that kia did not provide any microfilter with the local units. compare mo na lang when i get to post the photo.

guys, haven't posted in the longest while. need some advise.

i wanted to replace the filter on the aircon, but only reached this stage (see pic by diesoline) i can pull the fillter partway out but it gets blocked by the plastic molding.

i don't want to shell out P700 for labor again to wheels just to put the damn filter in, so what's the next step? am i supposed to take something else off?

close up of the microfilter's casing:

3M pala siya. the original microfilter installed with my vehicle was just the paper type. the 3M type has has plastic ribbing reinforcing the filter's element.

ok talaga kay mang mario. norman washed the dashboard bin and the plastic panels before they put the whole thing back on.

diesoline, ganun rin ang akin like pic#1. How do you remove the cover to go from pic1 to pic2? Ayaw using a screwdriver in between sa singit.
