    diesoline,

Oops, my bad. Didn't know the dashboards were different between our units

    Trendy08,

While you're waiting for altec to have his manual scanned, this might help you with your tail light replacement problem:

From the second drawing on the manual, it looks like you have to slide the tail light assembly to the left or right before you pull it toward you. I haven't tried it myself, so I'm just guessing here based on that arrow in the diagram.

    leolop,

Here's your walk-through on how to get the spare tire out:

Hope this helps. As diesoline said, getting the darn tire back in the cradle is the more taxing endeavor.

    Lensio,

Aside from the engine, is there any difference between the Grand Carnival and the Park II, like in size or other features? Any pictures?

mejo OT muna ako sa current topic...just ran across this thread while googling...

my unit is a carnival park 2 (gray unit) and it just came from casa, newly overhauled.
just to make it short, I'll give a sequence of events of how it happened.
    - weird noise from engine, not from belt but sounded like a bearing problem (few months ignored)
    - one night a family member of mine drove it when the oil indicator lit
    - he checked everything, there was oil, normal temp etc and nothing seemed to be wrong (wrong assumption)
    - next day, car won't start
    - casa found the culprit to be the oil pump chain which broke down causing lost of supply of oil to the entire engine
    - result overhaul

sabi nung mechanic, he had about 11 cases na of the same problem. when I finally got the unit out, another unit was being brought in with the same problem.
so the key is 1. frequency of change oil (to take care of the oil chain) and 2. do not ignore weird engine noise.
3.IMPORTANT: shut the engine off and have it towed when the oil indicator comes on (probably every driver familiar with an engine would know this but keep your family members/driver informed)

hope this helps and inform you ahead of time in case it happens to you.

ok. enough of the background...have some questions too on my next post.

    I hope welcome ako dito.
Yung itong pinost, copy and paste tapos print out. Unless the person is not from cebu, then it happened in Cebu as well! Yung dito kasi, umilaw ang oil indicator, pinatay, akala daw battery, chsnged battery, tapos start ulit.

Fuel pala ang na type ko. Oil pump, tama ka.

Let you know sometime next week kung ok yung scan.

Scanned mo tapos how did you post it here nga?

While waiting, went to the showroom and looked at their sorrentos. Anyway, umabot ang kwento sa sedona. Kia is expecting to launch the new sedona, called park 3 in the philippines real soon. Meron na silang newsletter/brochure about it, but the gas version pa. They call it the grand carnival. And it comes in a short and long version. Europe will only have the short version, while the rest of the world is supposed to have both versions.

    altec,

I-upload mo lang sya through the "Car Gallery" link at the top of the page.

Anyway, I am also eagerly awaiting the launch of the new Carnival. I think someone posted this promotional photo of the prototype a few pages back, but I'll just repost it to save time:

    Sweet

    mikey177,
thanks! this will really help. I actually tried pushing it left and right kaso im afraid to use
force kasi bka mabasag ko yung clips holding the tailight.

I've also seen the pix before while googling...new carnival pala yun! it looks great. i personally think the headlight design is great, the line at the side is also nice, parang mas square, mas aggressive tignan kasi sa pabilog na sides of the carnival today.

    altec,
i think it also happened in cebu! kasi i'm from manila.
dami na cgurong cases nyan all over, kasi dto sa manila madami na rin daw na encounter yung casa. cguro frequency of oil change will help.

OHHHH NOOOOOO!!! Sakit ng ulo ko, di ko na alam!!! I called up the casa to follow up kung ayos na ba yung suspected tensioner bearing. When they bleed the system, nawawala ang rrrrr sound. Pero after a short while, babalik. Engine knock daw. Never heard of engine knock in a diesel before. When he consulted Manila, immediately ang tanong ng Manila, gumamit siguro ng biodiesel!! Of course, I already told the advisor I use biodiesel, kasi the previous advisor who already resigned, approved the use of biodiesel. But their accredited brand is bioactive of chemrez, while I use estrol by senbel. Sabi ko, both chemrez and senbel are the only ones accredited by the Phil. govt. In fact, Petron is now planning to incorporate on all diesels, biodiesel blend, 50% supplied by Senbel, 50% supplied by Chemrez. They will check the injector sa spray pattern at baka daw lumaki na ang butas. At 21,500km odo reading???! I really hope its not!! And I doubt it is because of the brand that I use. Baka pa yung diesel supplier ang problema, not the biodiesel. Assuming it is biodiesel na ang suspecha, e di once it is mandated that fuel should be blended whether diesel or gasoline, happy na happy ang mga calibration shops sa pilipinas!!

Why am I entertaining the above possibility when you can just easily say its all rubbish, is that my motorpool supervisor who is a mechanic as well, theorized over a month ago that biodiesel is causing premature wear on the injectors on some of our units. I brushed it aside after several consultations. Until the Australian who supplies me with a certain oil additive just this week told me of his concern of biodiesel's premature wear. AND then this!!

    Umiikot ang mundo ko.

OT: after reading altec's post, ano ba talaga? safe ba talaga yang biodiesel na yan, lalo na dun sa mga CRDI engine? anong brand ba ng diesel sa atin ang may cetane reading na 52 to 54? ito kasi ang recommended fuel as per my ride's manual(hyundai).

to start off, I personally suspect fuel cleaners would someday clog fuel lines. reading altec's post, it kinda supports it.
It is normal to think that using cleaners would be safe and that all the dirt would end up in the filter. pero I was thinking maybe somehow there COULD be dirt past the fuel filter maybe due to inherent properties of diesel (not so familiar about this) but I believe there would be somekind in there. So all dirt cleansed by the cleaner would end up on the injector, those small debris would be forced through the injectors.
Injectors of the carnival are I think needle types and cannot be calibrated. so sad...

altec, as posted, 9k po yung presyo sakin sa casa, my contact at banawe, manila has it at 5.9k. kung nasa manila ka, i might have a contact who can help get you injectors at a lower price.

if they would be kind enough, can they plug in new injectors to test if mwala yung knock? that's how they determined that I would need to replace mine, when they replaced it, ang tining ng takbo.
since newly overhauled, I didn't want to risk it so I replaced it to protect all the other parts I just replaced.

    altec,

Very sorry to hear about your engine problems.

    Lensio,

Do you also use biodiesel in Korea? If so, is there any feedback on its long-term effects on CRDi diesel engines?

walang biodiesel dito. napakadalang ng smoke belching vehicles dito, owing to the strict government regulation regarding the mandatory annual inspection of vehicles after a certain number of years of the vehicle (2 years yata).

As far as I know, biodiesel is not popular here. And diesel fuel dito ay may very low content of sulfur <50ppm ata. (Basta low sulfur content based sa Euro4 standard).

By the way, I asked when they bled the system, ano ang nakuha, tubig? Dumi? Wala, malinis daw. I consulted another shop who I know of, the other possibility daw is air in the system. Pero bumalik daw yung knock. Di pa naman sure kung yun ang problema, and Kia is not saying it is the biodiesel that is suspect at this point. Sh*t, e di pag start ng government regulation that diesel will now be blended, and petron will be like that daw within this year, e di lahat ng bagong diesel rides, dahil puro biodiesel na ang magamit, void ang mga warranty nila?

Pero personally, I still believe in biodiesel, although syempre, di maiiwasan na may konting duda na.

Altec, can't blame you, hindi naman cheap ang cost ng repairs diyan sa atin at hindi din naman barya ang investment natin sa ating mga rides.

Re: Fuel filter assembly (non CDRI engine)

    Tips:

There are two types of fuel filter on carnival/sedona. It is easy to distinguish if you have the old or new type. Just look where the bleeder knob is located. You have the new type if it's located on the leftside (when facing the engine). Part No. 0K52A13480A (old type don't have the "A" at the last).

Lensio, is there any advantage to having the new type of fuel filter instead of the old type? Did Kia make any enhancements when they designed the new filter?

The new Kia Sedona/Carnival is supposed to be on sale in the US, I wonder if we'll get it at the same time?
