If I'm not mistaken, Kia offers a 3 year / 110,000km warranty while Hyundai offers a 5 year / 100,000km warranty...
Unfortunately, the locally available Carens does not have ABS. The ones they sell here are really stripped-down models as compared to those offered in other countries...
Bro carbomb, ayoko nyang entertainment system na yan! Ayoko!!! Lalo akong hindi tatabihan ng asawa ko sa harap! Hehehehe...
I really want to put that rear bumper protector sa likod para protection pag nagloload ng gamit sa loob... Man, that AND the cargo liner... I was checking online and the cargo liner sells for around $100. Kaso, I have no idea how much shipping would cost if these U.S. or U.K. sellers would ship to the Philippines...
hi wiper!
we have the eb sticker.
i agree with you that the pre-installed tint is an irritant. i would've wanted a darker shade din, and particularly wanted tint sa front windshield ko. i wish they also do it like the other brands, wait for your preference. now i have to shell out extra for the front windshield tint.
another thing that was deleted was the cargo area lamp. in the previous models there was. i think some of the gas variants i saw still have this feature. it was a real downer but my work around was i bought an omni 3-led lamp (available at ace hardware) and just stick it sa side. i'll take photos and post soon.
i really wouldn't fault columbian entirely for this as the units arrive like this (minus several features). maybe kia AND columbian.in fact, other carens/rondo owners abroad bemoan the same things (feature deletions). so it's really a world-wide thing except for some really nice features which i do think should've been in the Pdhm market, like ABS.
i wish they had it here (ABS) and agree it is a very important feature, particularly in a heafty vehicle like the carens. but i've never had abs in my previous vehicles before so i don't really miss it. yes, some situations will make abs a no-brainer (although the brakes are very stong) pero i try to be quite careful naman.
the curtain airbags would be nice din sana pero i'm sure this, along with the other features (stability control, etc) would add up to the costs and make her unattractive eventually.
i'd be naive if i said i'm VERY happy with my unit even without these features. would've been nice it we had the same features as those abroad. but my reasons for getting her were based on getting a people carrier with a respectable fuel consumption. oh yes, i did help she looked stylish.so far, i have no complaints about the engine, suspension or transmission. knock on wood. as for the service, as i've always said, it can be improved. but i take heart that there are choices out there. you could've bought your unit from one dealer and have it serviced by another. and poor service (not from all casas) isn't the monopoly of korean brands.
i do hope somebody from columbian is reading this thread and maybe they can find solutions to bring in units with more features. they have a good thing going here pa naman.
Last Christmas, when I got drunk I slept at the back (2nd & 3rd seats folded) of my Carens; but it wasn't comfortable due to the hardness. It's really designed for cargo. It's better to sleep in Innova with 1st and 2nd seats arranged as bed.

how i wish tlga na murhan nalan un price para d naman kmi gaano mhrapan ibenta, taasan sna mga cash discount and freebies! then tama un sa tint may option ka kung wat shade then kakabit nalan bago irelease... i think mahina tlga marketing ng columbian... it can help them sna if they view comments ng mga forums tgya neto ksi it will really help them..![]()
Thanks for the reply sir pochie, Cant wait to see pix of those chromed side mirrors. I want to get that kahit bilin and chrome door handles.
Ganda ng rear roof spoiler pix, sir carbomb, our KIA dealer here told me available daw yan. I will try to get one, the next time I visit KIA.
As for cargo liner, I'm still thinking about it coz kids love using the 3rd row seats.
I want the side moldings, para 'di magasgas sa parking lot.
Hi there... i got my EX A/T at KIA Quirino Ext. and had my tint changed to a "Magic" type (Yung parang Mirror pag tingin sa labas) for free. Also aside from the usual freebies: floor mats and seat covers, they also gave an unbrella and keychain kc walang available rain visor at that time till now.![]()
same place where i got my carens lx. c rante ba agent mo? anyway, i just visited that place for my 7500 check up and it cost me 1600 php. i am now monitoring my gas consumption for a possible change. before kc, im consuming 5-6 km/liter(antipolo-ortigas route) but now, the fuel consumption is gradually slowing and going down. i dont have the exact details kc my fuel gauge is still in the middle.![]()
Yup, c rante ang agent ko. Doing 9km/l w/ my carens crdi. ODO is at 560 km.
Btw,, manual says 1st chkup for the diesel is at 7500 for Euro and 5000 for non-euro countries. In the tread here, some of carens owners have 1st chkup at 1000km. Don't know kung gasoline engine or diesel sila.
Guys, Ano ba standard km for 1st chkup for the crdi?
hi guys. i was able to test drove the CRDi LX m/t today. Boy, the engine was very responsive and i felt i was driving a gasoline car.. comparing it to the sportage i test drove also, the carens is more powerful due to its vgt. also, you will only notice that it's diesel when you start it. but when it is already running, even if you floor the pedal, there is little engine noise in the cabin.
i checked the accessories that were deleted from the 2008 model since i tested the 2007 model. i think i can live without those things.
the aircon was cold enough to cool the cabin in a jiffy. it's a plus to have aircon vents on the 2nd row. however, there are no aircon vents on the 3rd row like the innova. oh well, it's strong enough to reach the 3rd row anyway.
i found the seats kinda stiff compared with my xtrail so i am afraid it will not be as comfortable for long drives. any comments regarding the seats specially on long drives? it felt like the seats of honda and toyota.
the suspension is kinda soft for an MPV that i am worried with a full load, you might feel the thumps and thuds of road ruts and humps. any comments on this sirs?
i will also miss the abs that's absent here. i have been in a couple of situations wherein i avioded accidents due to the presence of abs and ebd at my xtrail. so with an engine this powerful, i dont understand why kia removed this safety feature. oh well, you cant have it all with carens.
over-all, i find the carens a very nice MPV that will suit my needs - a crdi vgt powered vehicle, 7 seats configuration, sedan like feel, and not very expensive.
i really appreciate your inputs here and if ever i do purchase the carens, you guys made me do look at it (after setting my eyes on the innova). thanks
Kia Libis has a black Carens LX A/T on display at the first floor of Shangrila Mall this weekend - right beside two other dealers displaying a white Suzuki Swift and a white Toyota Fortuner, respectively. I'm really glad that Kia does this to promote the Carens. Ganda talaga ng Carens.![]()
I was in the same quandry as early as November 2007. I was given an LX AT version for a week to test ride. I set aside my liking for the Innova for the meantime and tried to find more reason why I should get a Carens. After some serious thoughts and some mild scraping due to low chin, I went back to Toyota and went for my earlier choice. Downside, Innova CRDI is a bit noisy or is it because its just less than 1k as compared to the LX variant that I tried at close to 4k mileage. Response of the Carens can be felt earlier due perhaps to its lighter weight. Not sure up to when my spare tire will last given the many cases it tire heft.
Upside of the Innova, more room, 3rd row a/c vents, better sound system, higher clearance, love the beige interior, FC is almost the same, remote for car stereo, more dealerships to choose from, better resale.
But do not get me wrong, Carens is a nice car. It could have better if they had more local support, better offer. And other options for the PH market.
just a follow up in my recent post about the fuel consumption of my carens cvvt gas lx after the 7500 check up. my full tank lasted for about 1 1/2 week with a satisfactory 7 km/l. my daily route is antipolo-ortigas, ortigas-antipolo.
thanks for the inputs sir FIREBLADE. i will still take that 2nd and 3rd look on the carens cause i am still convincing myself that it's better than the innova..
Sir yourman, carens crdi m/t ka na. I just had i long drive with my family plus my 2 yayas from the beach. I was very confident to overtake kahit punoan kami. Pahero lang ang hataw ng torque...(may karga man o wala)...malakas pa rin.
It's really fun driving this car especially pag 'di ko dala pamilya ko. Zoom,zoom,zooooommmmm...
Hmmm... this is a nice viewpoint. Makes me think again if an Innova might be a better choice. Hey, does the E variant of the Innova have ABS already?
But, I have to be honest. I love the design and comfortability of the Carens way over the Innova. IMHO, the Innova looks too much like a van to be my daily ride. I confess, I really love the Carens.![]()
tanong lang po, when you guys decided to buy the carens, did you also consider the resale value? and how long are you planning to keep this mpv?
i am planning to buy one when i get home maybe mid of this year and my main considerations are FC and resale, presently i have a 2000 revo glx which is a gas guzzler thats why i want to shift to diesel tsaka matagtag because of the ladder frame chassis. im still confused on what i would be getting but ive narrowed down my choices to carens and sedan(corolla or civic), the latter would be high resale value and FC is good.
salamat po sa lahat.
well, i really not into resale value anymore. i think after 10 years or maybe more than that, wala nang tumatakbong gasoline/diesel engine cars sa mga kalyewhy? experst says kc na mga 10 years or more pa eh ubos na raw ang oil reserves natin sa planer earth
kayo who cares for the resale value of carens? if you love the car, then love it with all your heart and soul!!!
enjoy it for the rest of your life

I'm planning to keep my carens as long as 10yrs, even longer!Worry ka about resale value if you plan to sell in 2-3yrs. Pero ngayon any car after 2-3yrs eh malaki ang discount sa original price. why? coz marami new models coming out every year.
Cars are getting better now, specially koreans. di na monopoly ang toyota, mitsu, etc..in fact they have their share of problems.
Kung di gaanong magkaroon ng problems ang Kia/Hyundai car, I bet magbabago isip ng pinoy. from the looks of it, that's not too unlikely to happen!![]()
I agree with bro battaglin. When I finally do get my Carens, I plan on keeping it for a long time.... Admittedly, I was initially concerned about the resale value of whatever car I was gonna get. That was the main reason why I considered the Innova. In the end, however, I made my choice based on my overall personal assessment of the cars available.
As long as the Carens remains durable for the time that it will be with me, I think I won't have any problems with its "resale" value down the road, whether it be high (if we're lucky) or it be low (by that time, I would have had full use of the vehicle anyway). Just my two cents.![]()
