I have to agree. It is more civilized indeed. More features, more comfy, more of everything... and less holes in the wallet

starex is good buy if you have that much money but for quality issue... built quality of carens is better than starex...for a price of 1.050 hmmm, close to crdi sportage 4x4 at 1.120 (70k diff) i think sportage is a better buy for a family w/ 2-3 kids...better looking, wider, bigger mags and tires sportage is more comfy to ride + being 4x4 it gives more comfident to drive (uphill, downhill, slippery roads,etc)...

Carens CRDi LX a/t - 925k
Carens CRDi EX a/t - 1.050M
Carnival LX m/t (short wheelbase) - 1.2M
Carnival LX a/t (short wheelbase) - 1.275M
Carnival EX a/t (long wheelbase) - 1.550M
Note that the Carnival is CRDi also but I forgot to ask any specifics about the engine.
OT but I got a close look at the Carnival EX and I think the long wheelbase is worth it since with the third row up, it's got more luggage space than our Starex (non-CRDi) with the third row up. The third row seats actually fold neatly under the floor (into the space where the luggage space is when it's up). Interior looks nice enough. They offered a test drive but I was in a hurry. Sayang.

*cardo: Since he mentioned that the third row folds into the floor, that's likely it.
Ang mura pala kung ganyan! When I saw it at the motor show before, I was anticipating a cost of over 1.5m!

The Carens isn't an AUV. It's a car-based MPV like the Ope Zafira, Ford C-Max or Mazda5. It's supposedly wider than the Mazda5 (and definitely wider and much bigger than the Zafira.
It doesn't seem as big in the third row as the Innova, but you can juggle seating space from first row to third row to get enough legroom for everyone.
it has greater seating flexibility than the Innova, as you can fold the second and third row down completely flat (the second row's seat folds up and forward, whil the backrest folds flat to form a floor) to make a long cargo bay.
I've just checked out the Carens. Disappointing that the 1m version has no ABS... but otherwise, I'm digging it.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
