We use the car for city driving on weekdays and long distance driving EVERY weekend.

The ground clearance is really LOW. But again, thankfully, we don't experience flooding so it is not a big deal. Our car already has a few scratches near the bumper, though. Brought about by parking too close to those cement bars/gutters at the mall parking lot. Was wondering if bigger tires would help lift it a bit?

The Carens has the same ground clearance as most sedans, which makes it easier for kids and elderly persons to get in and out of the vehicle. I own a Starex and a Kia Carnival, and I much prefer the ease of climbing aboard the Carnival as I find the Starex too high.

i saw kia carens and honda jazz/fit side by side sa road, i must say, mas mababa ang jazz at mas maliit ang tires. hindi na man ganun ka baba ang carens, katulad lng ng mga sedans dyan. Mas ok ang carens kasi maganda ang crash test results, 7 seater pa at crdi.

Wow kita ko yung pics ng kia carens that was posted by mikey. Hindi na nahuhuli compared sa famous manufacturers. parang mas magaganda pa ang interior ng kia at hyundai plus with CRDI engine pa. Tapos pag umabot yung FC nito ng 15km/lit. ayos to. Pede pang gamitin pang cargo kasi foldable pala yung 2nd and 3rd row seats as in flat ka level ng flooring, ang galing. Marami ng alternative vehicles ngayon.

Ano kayang floor matting nito Mikey? parehas kaya sa starex na rubberized.
mas ok sana pag rubberized para madaling linisin at lalo na kung me sakay na me allergy sa carpet.

I checked out the Carens again when I visited Kia Pangasinan today. Sorry to disappoint you, but the flooring is of the traditional carpet type, not rubberized like in the 2006 Starex.

We have had had no major problems with the car (thankfully). But just last week, we experienced our first flat tire. Was scared and surprised about the small spare tire but was assured by my Dad (who changed the tire for me) that it would still run well until the nearest vulcanizing shop. And it did. Whew.

hello, am a newbie here.... I am buying a Carens LX a/t this month. Based on the replies to this thread, Carens is worth buying. The only question lang talaga is if anyone has tried or even seen a Carens driving through a flooded street.

well, vinrem.... prices for Kia are standard, no discounts (as far as I know). Freebies depend on the sales agents desire to sell a unit to you. I asked for free back up sensors... ibibigay naman. Good luck

Hi! I made a short test drive of a carens MT crdi a few weeks back (base model).

I should say that i'm impressed with the 6-speed gear box and the interior trim is not bad.

The road that I tried it on was a hilly one and to my surprise, the carens can still accelerate on an uphill climb on 3rd gear Not sure if it's because there are only 2 of us in the car (not loaded) but you can gauge that this is enough power to haul people around.

the engine was a bit on the noisy side on the outside daw as compared to a santa fe crdi. but that's just noise to the people out there (not inside hehe).

as for the low ground clearance, this should not be an issue. this is a diesel engined car and usually diesels can wade thru floods better than its gasoline counterpart (i you know how). but my suggestion when you encounter a deeply flooded road, DONT cross it unless exteremely necessary (without a choice)

i'd say that this is a value for money korean family car again. i'll surely consider this car when i'm up for a change of cars again but this would take some time now as kakapalit lang namin ng car. Bakit ngayon lang ito dumating?

i have a a carens and i have driven it in a midium yet passable flood of cainta near junction. kahit naman low clearance cya still, matatas pa rin compare sa mga usual sedans. but havent tested it yet to the land of Malabon where my favorite kakanin and pansit malabon is located! he he he.

Vinrem, so far there's no indication yet of a price increase. I just paid my reservation fee for a red lx a/t... I might be able to bring this baby home by next week.
