Yep, once it's past that 2000 rpm mark, you're good to go.

I paid a visit to a Kia showroom last Saturday. Size-wise, laki pala ng difference ng Carens sa SWB Carnival. I thought the Carnival was bigger, but not by much. The wide and relatively short stance of the Carnival, made it appear much bigger.

Anyways, back to the Carens. When all seats are in use, the 3rd row legroom is a bit less, compared to the Innova's. But when you only use the 1st 2 rows, it's comfy seating for 5. A friend of mine was considering an Innova for his future bride/family. He liked the way the Carens looked and felt. Though shorter and perhaps less imposing, it felt more car-like and comfortable. Plus with the last row folding out of the way into the floor, you get a lot of storage room.

well said niky! actually, initial observations indicates that it (the carens) is a bit thriftier than a 1.6 gas (im comparing it to a 95 civic), about the same consumption on city (moderate-heavy traffic) but the carens has a better FC on highways. Pagdating sa highway, I am very pleased with the FC that I got. You are so right about the power comparison though

thanks for the explanation guys. although i will only actually feel her when we get her. when we test drove it kasi along edsa, you can't really expect to "floor" her.

    my main considerations were
    1) fuel consumption - since we live in sta. rosa and make the daily commute to makati. although you can consider rush hour as city driving, hopefully that won't be too bad.
    2) convenience - why i ordered an automatic.

i know my right foot is quite light on the pedal. hopefully that will translate on better city fc...

she could get pretty thirsty when on traffic, I am telling you so you wont expect much, as thirsty as a common 1.6 sedan (civic, corolla). Although, when on highways the FC will make you smile. I am from the south myself and the carens fits my needs perfectly (65+ km mixed highway and city).

Baka nga mas matipid pa kung hindi nga lang nakakatuksong mag zoom... zoom... zoom! I am sure you will know what I am talking about when you drive her

thanks for the heads up bro. mukhang nakakatukso nga kasi based on specs i see at the back of both topgear and c! magazines, mas "torquey" carens than most vans (or even suvs like the tucson!). sana nga di ako matukso!

To all Carens CRDI owners: did you change oil on the 1st 1,000 km? Sabi ng friend, hindi na raw. The change oil will be done on the first 5,000 km.

sa mga may lx m/t (crdi or gas). patanong lang po, yung unit nyo ba illuminated yung keyhole? the lx m/t (crdi) displayed at signet has illuminated keyhole, i took a picture of it so i am sure.

that sucks! I don't care about the keyhole illumination really. what i don't like is that it was advertised as having that feature and I don't have it

isa pa, it was also advertised to have heated side mirrors, mine doesn't seem to have it as well. paki check nga po ulit mga fellow owners.

On the positive side. Some reports on FC. I've just had my 3rd full tank. FC seems to indicate a 11 km/li mixed city and highway driving, speed on highway is 70-90 kph on the average peaking at 140+ kph whenever possible. Longest traffic jam experienced is 2 hours (average of about 20 minutes of slow drives/day). FC peaked at 15 km/li running 80-110 kph on the average. Pretty good!

Also, I've noticed an increase in FC for every full tank (e.g. 2nd full tank takes longer to be emptied than the first). Power performance... walang akong reklamo

Agree sa power performance. Walang problema sa akyatan (Kennon Road) and overtaking. It's powerful than my 2.0 gas Innova. My FC - to Subic and back 9.1, going up to Baguio and within Baguio 9.6, from Baguio 11.7. My odo now reads 1,200 + kms.
