I AM SORRY! i was under the impression that all was the same as when i got my GRX and Sta Fe, kaso iba na pala ang warranty provisions nila. ok pa sila nuon 1st 2 purchases e. pero ngayon, because of their "5 year extended" warranty ek-ek, pangit na! hostage ka na sa 5 year warranty na yan. di pwede palit ng horns, di pwede pakabit ng HU sa banawe, di pwede pa-modify ng head lights, di pwede lahat. isa pa, every 5000km or 3 months papaservice ka. pag di daw sinunod ang schedule wala ng warranty. e usually sana e gamit ko lang ang GS pag coding ang santa fe and sundays, wala pang 100km/week ang itatakbo dapat. tapos papaservice ko every 3 months or else wala ng warranty. shet!
as far as my GS's warranty is concern, engine warranty na lang meron. wala na electrical warranty e hahahaha! kasalanan lahat ni sir benjie, galing mag-sales talk! after 2 years i'll dump the warranty altogether. asa pa sila papaloko ako ng ganun katagal.
Just added the tailgate spoiler and the rear mirror for the GS * the dealership.
Anyone know how long hyundai usually takes to process their plates? Halos 1 month na yung unit namin..
Actually, our VGT Gold unit, acquired in January this year, has what CVT was mentioning, a DVD ready 1 DIN HU. And this was connected to a 2nd and 3rd row facing 10" monitor. These are both stock.
When I ditched the 1 DIN HU for a 2 DIN Pioneer HU with LCD monitor, I realized, the picture quality of the stock 10" monitor wasn't as good. Might be better to get 7" or 9" or 10" headrest monitors if for the picture quality.
On the contrary, some dealers nitpick about voiding the warranty when changing anything, no matter how minor it really is. The electrical system we have should not have any problems handling more powerful horns, such that we would probably install these with relays to match, however, the dealers would still take exception to them. As for me, proceeded with the horn upgrade, as I needed it what with the chaos on our streets.
As to the law, it's not really outdated per se, as Korea and Japan probably have the same law on horns. The assumption, however, on which the law was based is horribly outdated. Even pedicabs have louder horns. Talk about the anarchy.
The gray market GS units are really much better than the ones HARI peddles. Brings me back to late 2001/early 2002 when we were choosing between the "tropicalized" Carnival/Sedona from Wheels and the "gray" Carnival II from a different dealer. The gray unit trumped the local unit with all the features. Buti we were able to get that one. Under the circumstances now though, we had to get a HARI Gold unit. If the scenario were different, it would definitely be a gray market dealer.
Yoda? Is that you? Hehehe!
Same tayo bro. Hehehe! Electrical warranty is shot to hell due to the horns, the HIDs, the projectors, the fogs and the sound set up. Pero I'm very happy with these upgrades, makes commuting much more enjoyable.
As to the engine warranty, pasok pa naman ako. Until I get the urge to get a chip, and used a better fully synthetic oil. They're peddling the Shell Helix Ultra as their FS oil, but with due respect to Shell, the FS they sell locally is better suited for gas. It's only with a 'CF' for diesel. Tsk tskI may not be with their "warranty", but my GS will probably be better off with my own PMS.
Also wanting to scratch the HVX rims upgrade itch. Di pa lang ako makahanap. Baka meron kayong alam. Hehe. Goodbye suspension warranty.
"Tropicalized" used to mean supposedly a bigger and/or better radiator to handle the heat, compared to less tropical climates. Not sure about anything else though.
By the way, is there any noticeable difference moving from the "normal" diesel to the higher grade diesel being offered by the gas companies?
<-- I suppose this would be difficult to answer based on experience, so asking that question was a bit of a long shot anyway haha.
Calling fastlane![]()
*SG,
Are they still peddling the "tropicalized" crap? I thought that stopped long ago? Last time I heard it was with the Gen 3. So around 2004.
*mda,
You're probably referring to the Turbodiesel and the VPower diesel, right? Based on experience with our former CRDi Gen 3 and my Non-CRDi Prado, parang walang effect on performance. If ever, very slight, and that might just be psychological. What some are saying is the cleaning power. I'd stay with Caltex, since that's what works for me, if it were for the cleaning power.
Ah talaga? Big difference ba? Sabi ng iba mas evident sa CRDi. Didn't feel it. Good for you na meron
Hahaha! Coil? Sorry bro, can't say if there really is a difference.
Yes, I'm referring to those fuels nga.
If your Prado is the same as the one in your sig, then we have a similar unit. We're currently just using ordinary diesel with it. Mukhang no problems naman.
Just not sure if we should start loading up our VGT with the higher grade diesels. We keep our cars for the long haul and it would be better if we could sorta avoid the injector issues down the road. Hindi ko lang alam if changing to turbodiesel will just be a waste of money or not.
Ah ok. Mine's a 2004 unit. So that's 7 years of the crappy diesel we have here, save for about 2 months of Vpower diesel, for testing purposes. thankfully, no problems naman with any of our local diesels. I guess old technology still works up to now, and might be more reliable.
Though our old Gen 3 wasn't a VGT, it was a CRDi already. And unlike the CRDi's of Japanese brands, the Hyundai's worked fine. So I'm supposing even the 'regular' diesels will work ok with the VGT.
I think it was niky who did a computation about whether getting VPower or Turbo diesel for their cleaning properties was worth it vs getting the 'regular' diesels and having the injectors cleaned eventually (after 200t kms). Can't quite recall what he arrived at. Parang sulit lang ata if you keep the car for that long. Sorry, you've got to ask him na lang.
