CVX standard/deluxe has more features than HARI's VGT Gold and yet HARI's price is 100k more. What you don't find in VGT Gold are: ECO drive mode, Garmin GPS navigator (it works well, although it gets confused too when you like to take alternate routes); folding side mirrors, rear camera, 2 din TV/DVD/MP3/Bluetooth/Ipod/USB auido/video system, with additional LCD monitor in the middle; automatic aircon systems; 2nd and 3rd rows are all captain seats (only 2nd row are captain's seat for VGT Gold).

And given the above extras for the CVX premium, VGT Gold is really way behind in terms of "value for money".

I removed the 4th row bench, so now it has become very roomy, with lots of leg room and luggage space. Will just re-install 4th row if absolutely needed only...a 15-20 minute job if you have a driver's or assistant's help to do it.
I am thinking of getting a GS CVX from Hancars. Is it ok to get really a GS from the grey market? is it true what HARI says that the GS sold in the grey market are not "tropicalized" (i.e., not suited in Philippine conditions)? Perhaps, our co-tsikoteers who got their units from any of the gray market retailers can give their 2 cents worth. Thank you.

    Whew!

I am certain that it was one big discussion you had with your Dad, Bro.je_maza. The VGT variant being P300K more expensive than the TCi powertrain..... Congratulations!

There have been earlier discussions on this "tropicalized" claim by HARI.

For me it may only be relevant to the Korean made battery. As to the aircon system, for me it does not apply as the aircon is for all 4-season use. I have the 1st gen Montero Sport which is a CBU, meaning its aircon is original Japan and same as the ones supplied for the Russian market (even has a heater, just like the aircon of the GS CVX), and I do not have any problems with it since I acquired it 2009.

As to the tires, the claim is also not really applicable coz we really do not have extreme temperatures here which affect the severity of the contraction and expansion of tires and therefore its life and performance.

Issues with the battery and tires are really minor and will not negate or offset the reality that gray market units have better and more features than HARi units, ergo, a superior value for money ratio.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, jabe74. Surely appreciated. Is the thread on this "tropicalized" issue in this thread too? I got to catch up. I need to find out how "happy" the other tsikoteers who got their vehicles from Hancars are in terms of its "after-sales" service. I was told that it has tie-ups with some HARI service centers.

yeah. I discourage him to get a tci. I told him that tci are sold commonly on 3rd world countries. hehe.
But we're planning to get one unit maybe on january 2012. Kakaalis lang niya kasi pag balik niya na lang daw. Btw sir, mas ok ba kumuha sa HARI? than Pitstop or Hancars. Budget lang namin ay 1.5m

sirs, question sa mga naka 12 seater

pwede ba alisin yung 3rd row at ilipat doon yung pinakahuling upuan?

magtatapat ba mga butas ng screw?

saka parehas na parehas ba ang makina ng TCI millenium at GS?

    tnx!

According to Webin, owner of Hancars, you can have your GS serviced in any HARI service centers. He has good relations with HARI coz he also supplies them with Hyundai parts and has servicing arrangements with them. But if you are in QC, Hancars suggest servicing in Pitstop in Quezon Ave.

Re "not tropicalized" discussion: I think I read it in one sulit.com ad by a gray market player and his arguments against such claims are very strong and sound. Try googling it.

I can only speak for the CVX models from the gray market....you can remove any row. If you remove the 3rd row, then you can simply slide the 4th row nearer to or farther from the 2nd row via the built-in tracks, (without uninstalling the bench type seat).

What I did with mine was to remove the bench seats (rearmost), such that what remained are all captain seats (and center jump seats). I left the bolts/nuts attached to the tracks so they are always on hand in case I decide to re-install the bench seats.

Bro.,- when you say "parehas na parehas" I surmised that you meant in layout and everything.

My guess is no, they're not the same, because the GS's layout is different from the Gen3, so my intelligent guess is that it should not be the same as the Millenium version.

    Mahina yung buga.

Parang hindi sobra nakakatulong, unlike the foglamps on the FD we have at home.

The stock bulbs of the foglamps are weak.

And the position of the foglamps are too low.

So, they're not really functional compared to the previous Starex models. That's our opinion.

I have not removed the cover of the foglamps....

Access is in the front wheel wells...

You just lift the rubber cover at the back of the foglamps and that's it....

The HU that I got from HARI already has USB port and is MP3 ready... However, you cannot navigate from one album to the other and has inadequate audio power, so I got rid of it....
