I'm not sure on that engine, I'm almost positive it does not have a spin on filter but a cartridge type filter.

    Doc,

Can I run my Royal purple oil filter equipped 1zz-Fe engine and Idemitsu Extreme Eco 5w30 fully synthetic for more than 10,000kms?

also If I use Royal purple Filter and Oil on my 2nd Gen Jazz/Fit, can I run it till 12,000kms? I drive about 50% highway and 50% city driving regularly.

The Royal purple filers are a fuel synthetic media. Their filters are made by Champion Labs which makes it for them which is one of the largest filter makers.

Your wasting your money if your not running the Royal Purple combo 15000km to 20000km on a gas engine. I would go with 40 weight oil if possible if you do a equal amount of city driving. And 12000km to 15000km with the other brand oil with the Royal Purple filter to be on the safe side.

There filters are 99% efficient at 25 microns and 50% at 7 microns. They are basically the same media as the old AC Delco Ultraguard filters.

As long as they are stored properly they can last up to 10 years, The RP filters are not made from cellulose so they can last even longer.

    Bosch Distance Plus D3423

If your changing your oil at 4000km intervals on Diesel oil your wasting your money. You might also want to see if the area your in has a Napa auto parts store first because Napa carries WIX , Napa also has Napa brand filters (Napa makes WIX) The new Platinum filters they are awesome These are full synthetic media filters like Amsoil. and designed for 20000km oil change intervals.

[Cut Open] NEW NAPA Platinum 41515 - Bob Is The Oil Guy

Napa gold are the same as WIX filters. All high quality.
Thanks Doc. For the Pajero I will first extend the oil change interval (OCI) to 6,000 kms - on Delo 15w40 mineral and Bosch oil filter. When I shift to Baldwin BD28 or BD7028 Ill extend it to 8,000-10,000kms.

For the LC80 (1FZ-FE) I'd go with the Baldwin B2 or Wix 51515 filter as the Bosch dealers here (Warren and Amazon - both in Binindo) don't carry filters for the LC 80 and 100 series.

Doc, need help on the Baldwin filter for the LC 100 series (2UZ-FE). What is the correct Baldwin oil filter for the 100 series - B159, BT223, B228, or B178. I'm a bit confused here. Thanks.

Will reply to your PM shortly.

Hi Doc, do you have a direct comparison of these 3 oils' Moly, Calcium, Zinc, Phosporous and TBN?
    - RP 15W-40
    - Mobil1 TDT (5W-40)
    - Motul Specific CRDI Diesel (5W-40)

I have not posted one for the Motul CDRI nor do I have one the rest are posted on here but it does have a zinc content of at least 1500ppm per it's MSDS product sheet. And if it's anything like the 300V then it would have a ton of moly in it which is a very good thing.

    http://spectrum.cl/motul/motul%20web..._10W40_SDS.pdf

The rest run around 1100-1000ppm zinc, around 50ppm moly and all have a TBN of over 10. They are so close it's really not going to make a difference of which one you use especially if your not running it more than 15000kms.

    All good oils.

Hi Doc. The Toyota OEM filter I use for my LC 100 (2UZ-FE) is 90915-2004. I went on the Baldwin site and when I crossed reference it, what was recommended was B1405. Hope you can clarify. I want to make sure I get the right Baldwin filter.

Driver just came back from Volmax. Asked him to get 2 pcs BD28 for the Pajero (4m40) and 1pc of the B2 filter for the LC 80 (1FZ-FE). The filters are not wrapped in plastic and there's only a small "Made in USA" marking on the filter itself. Will post pics tonight for you to check out.

JS filter list that part number I posted, the difference in the filters is the bypass valve rating, but if you cross check all the filters they list for that vehicle the bypass ranges from 8psi 10psi, 14psi, 20psi and all the way up to 30psi. Using a 8psi bypass valve with a higher flowing filter will not really effect anything it just means it will go into bypass mode at a lower psi if it becomes clogged. But if you want closer to the middle then you will want to use then go with the B1405.

Baldwins do not come wrapped in plastic Volvax hs a good track record on the Baldwin filters.

    Thanks once again.

hi CB. Got it for P765/pc. The Bosch oil filter (OM 084) is cheaper at only P380/pc. But as dvldoc said the Baldwin is a better filter so I'll give this a try.

Before I read this thread the OCI for my wife's Pajero is only at 3,000kms/4-5months (Delo 15w-40 mineral and Vic 313). Dumi kasi ng diesel natin dito. Although I've shifted to Unioil almost 9 months back - this is supposed to be euro IV diesel fuel - noticed less smoke, a tad bit quiter engine noise, and better FC. Now that I use the Bosch oil filter I will extend OCI to 5,000 - 6,000kms.

paj, im also currently using Bosch. you got it from amazon ba? its 390 at warren's e.
im also using seaoil/unioil's diesel. seaoil has the euro5 diesel naman. i'll probably use baldwin on my next oil change and extend my OCI to 8000km since im using semi-syn naman. if you read at the Pajero club forum, the Top1 synthetic oil is highly recommended there for our 4m40. Joseph Atutubo highly recommends it also. less smoke daw and quieter engine.

Also got the Bosch OM 084 for the Pajero from Warren's for P380. Got 3pcs that time so baka naka discount driver ko. hehe.

I'm quite happy with Caltex Delo for my diesel fed rigs. In fact from time to time I switch from Delo 15w-40 to just Delo 40 monograde. I'll try out Top1 and Mobil TDT next - combined with the BD28 oil filter. Where do you source the Top 1 FS oil for the pajero and what SAE rating does it have? Thanks.

Thanks CB. Ill try out Top1 soon. Although Ill most likely get from the states. A lot cheaper. I get Mobil 1 FS oils for the LC's at only about $20 for 4.73liters/5quarts. So ill also get the Mobil TDT oil from there.

OT - I'm not selling my extra set of tools for our Gen2.5. I'm keeping it as a spare set. PM perazi in 4x4ph. He sells these from time to time. Will pass on the aluminum rad for the 4m40. I have an ongoing restoration project - restoring my dedicated trail rig now - Samurai - so funds are reserved for that.

Doc, here are pics of the Baldwin B28 and B2 filters I got from Volmax today. Also included a pic of the Bosch oil filter I got from Warren's a couple of months back.

Left to right ---- Bosch OM 084 (Pajero 4m40) - Baldwin BD28 (Pajero 4m40) - Baldwin B2 LC80 1FZ-FE). Note the difference in height of the Bosch and Baldwin filters for the 4m40 engine

"Made in USA" on the filter itself. Keeping fingers crossed that these are not knock offs... The Bosch has a "Made in Indonesia" print on the filter

Bottom view. Note that only the Bosch filter has a plastic cover at the bottom

Code markings on the top part of the Baldwin filters

Boxes... Baldwin box is not glossy its like semi gloss or matte

Remote bypass oil filtration
