Doc I'm not sure that Delo 400 TBN is 16. I looked it up on the website you gave me for the caltex website and the TBN there is just 12.2
    http://www.caltex.com.au/productsand...n.aspx?ID=1639
The price of Delo Gold Ultra is less than 200 pesos while Delo 400 is around 400 pesos (and really hard to find an auto supply or caltex station that sells it). Is it more economical to go with Delo gold than Delo 400 if the TBN difference is just 2 points?

delo gold "ultra" here in the Philippines is CI-4 and global DHD rated... 200 plus to per liter
"delo gold" is the one rated CH-4.... less than 200 per liter

check the nearest caltex stations, they have delo gold ultra which is CI-4...

After checking the container it was indeed delo gold and not delo gold ultra. I asked for delo gold ultra specifically but failed to notice it was just delo gold that the sales lady gave me since i was on my way to work and a little bit in a hurry. My bad... To Doc, what is the best bang for the buck oil that I can get besides Delo Gold Ultra and Top1 SDO?

Doc Mobil Delvac MX has a high TBN of 12 and only around 210 pesos per liter in one of the distributors here in Pampanga. According to its MSDS it has 2500 ppm ZInc
    https://www.alexisoil.com/sites/defa...5w-40-msds.pdf
Since my gas engine car does not have a cat con its not going to be a problem if i use it, but is this oil good fo 10,000 OCI on a 2012 montero sport of course with a bd28 filter partnered with it (my fathers car).

Also why is the more expensive (by 2-3x) Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 fully synthetic oil have a lower TBN of 10.7?

Here is the pds of the Mobil delvac MX being sold in the philippines. Mobil Delvac MX 15W-40

For its zinc level, the pne you posted shows less than 2.5% but in some used oil analysis (UOA) i got from the net, zinc level is around 1,700ppm so hindi puwede sa gas engines with catcon. On the other hnd, Delo Gold Ultra, Top 1 SDoand Mobil 1 TDT 5w40 is about 1200ppm ang zinc.

Percentage does not equal ppm. No oil has 2500ppm ZDDP unless it's break in oil which is only run for a very short time and then drained. You would start to see wear in your engine with that high of zinc. Every company has there own math but I don't know what theirs is.

zinc for Mobil delvac MX based on UOA (comparable with Mobil super 1300 in the US) is around 1700ppm. Not relly good for gas engines with catcon.

Mobil 1 TDT hs lower TBN because of its CJ-4 rating which means it is for diesel engines with better diesel fuel. So they dont need much TBN. But it is 2x expensive since it is synthetic and it is more expensive to produce and there are a lot of other additives. For a gas engine with a catcon, the Mobil 1 TDT is such an excellent oil. Been using it even in a 4-stroke motorcycle and after 5,000kms oil is just about the same when you first post it. Proof of its being a synthetic making it more durable even in high temp, high-revving engines.

Clarification lang on this, is it really 1700ppm for mobil delvac mx? Thought it was below 1200 ppm?

Doc what is the safe OCI for a 2012 Montero Sport 10K mileage, using Mobil Delvac MX and Bosch OM 036 filter? There is currently no supply of bd28 at Volmax so the bosch filter is the only other choice better than Vic and Mitsu Oem filter. A very noticeable difference between bosch vs oem oil filter, oil warning light for bosch goes off simultaneously when engine starts; for oem mitsu filter oil warning light goes off 1 to 2 seconds after engine has started.

The Bosch will be fine for 10k, It's also has a fairly large filter surface it is not as efficient as the BD28 but it is larger.
