July 23rd, 2012 02:01 AM #1773Hi sir, I have a Gen 2 Pajero 3 door 4M40 and I was just wondering if 5km/liter city driving is normal consumption for this kind of engine? So far i don't experience hard starting every morning and the power of the engine is good but for me it consumes a lot of fuel given that I'm a light footed driver. Is there any way or do you have tips on what can i do to improve my fuel consumption?
By the way, I haven't had any repairs on the engine nor had it calibrated yet, and I always do 5,000 km change oil and replace fuel filter. My km reading as of now is 150,000 sir. Would really appreciate your thoughts on this.

July 24th, 2012 03:22 AM #1774Hi sir, I have a Gen 2 Pajero 3 door 4M40 and I was just wondering if 5km/liter city driving is normal consumption for this kind of engine? 5km/ltr could be acceptable for city driving if you often drive on high traffic areas. Hiway driving is a more accurate measure of fuel consumption.

Is there any way or do you have tips on what can i do to improve my fuel consumption? Try these: 1) check replace air filter, 2) remove any unnecessary cargo from your car, 3) check tire type, size, and inflation pressure, 4) Use less aircon or increase your temp settings a bit.

July 28th, 2012 03:12 PM #1775Hi Sir Dieseldude. I've been experiencing slight vibrations/bogging during acceleration from 1k to 2k rpm in my 2005 ford everest (4x4). I regularly change oil every 5000km. My current mileage is 67000km.
Here are the things that I already did but still did not solve the problem:
- Checked wheel camber, alignment and balance
- Checked crossjoints, center bearing and prop shaft. They are all intact.
- Replaced Fuel filter (OEM). The old filter has dirt and water when removed.
- Replaced AFT filter (OEM) and ATF oil
- Replaced Oil filter (OEM) and engine oil
Any info/advice regarding this problem? - TIA!
