I was quoted 150k in 2020 (in between the lockdowns) for a 3kw solar setup at my house (panels will be on the roof). The installer mentioned they can also set up charging for an EV, they just need to know what charging system the car will use.

My estimate is that I pay about 150k a year for fuel and this is with the SnR / Landers discount. I didn't push through with solar because there was a lot of uncertainty then and I didn't have an EV.

It may be time to revisit this in 2024.

kaya sana, DOE/LTO/DOTr can decide which charging standard ang gagamitin ng local malls and establishments. that way we can finally decide which EV to use.

Uni Oil (and Nissan Manila Bay) lang may CHAdeMO plugs
most malls have CCS2/Type 2, yung iba may GB/T

haven't seen an establishment na may NACS

ah ok. ang alam ko may countries din na sinusubukan yan for public transport... pero reason why we are switching to eclectic is efficiency.

if we use a charging pad. wasted energy yung heat.

    in jest,

    nope.
the oil companies will simply have a change in billables,
    from gas stations atbp,
    to power generating plants.

    banawe?
mag-i-iba lang nang piyezas na linalako.

kung madami bibili ng byd at mg at 1.4milyones eh gaganda competition nito baka other chinese electric cars ipresyo ng 900thou tapos kaya 400kms. Pag gumanyan na presyo eh ayan very in reach na talaga.

Most public charging stations meron CCS2 and Chademo plugs.

Hopefully soon, solar panels & batts should become more affordable.[emoji120]

i always purchased my toyotas in cold cash, because i do not know how to make my money work effectively for me.

car owners who do not have ready access to charging terminals will still patronize traditional petroleum cars.
i wonder, will EV sellers throw in a portable gasoline-powered electric generator, for justin?
    heh heh.

    someone wrote,
"when we patronize EVs, we are just exporting the carbon footprint."

    there are no easy solutions.

I have an EV since April, 400km published range (I am able to get at least 380km). I have been using it to go to Metro Manila and Baguio from my province (I live half way between MM and Baguio). There's no public charging stations anywhere near my place, but I got a free home charger from the dealer. The range anxiety goes away after around 2-3 trips.

As for just exporting the carbon footprint, EVs are way more efficient than ICE cars. And emissions from power plants are controllable vs emissions from ICE cars.

agree... plus the fact that EVs are more efficient.

However, you must also consider that mining minerals to create batteries (especially in African countries) is not environment friendly.

I'm not an environmentalist and I've always said that buying a car in 2023 without a battery is weird...

But, drilling for oils is not in anyway more environment friendly than mining di ba

we've done it for so long, it is now very efficient... pati yung transport of oil from one country to the other.

compare that with mining minerals for battery use.

anyway, its a different debate for later... personally, wala akong paki-alam. I want my next car to have a battery (either full EV or hybrid) - I don't care how the car was made.

it's myopic to compare petroleum drilling to battery mineral mining coz we're still using the li-ion invented by Goodenough in the 80's i.e. we're literally using Version 1.01 of the technology yet it already enabled viable EV's today. Battery 2.0 is going to be transformative and may not even require a lot of minerals. of course it doesn't exist yet but such a battery doesn't break the laws of physics so there's reason to be optimistic

nuclear fusion plus next-gen battery will be utopia
