My father-in-law's getting frustrated with Manila Bay, asked us yesterday if we wanted to switch to another brand (Kia Sorento V6???) What do you think guys? Should we wait, I don't really need a new vehicle right now, still have my trusty Nissan Pathfinder and Yamaha Vmax to keep me company anyway. I also heard rumors that dealers would insert influential customers (for a fee) ahead of the customers patiently waiting in line... any truth to this rumor? I really like the Fortuner and it would make a perfect ride for me and my new wife. Thanks guys.

if i were you wait na lang ako. mababa resale value ng kia and also walang third row seats for the kids. malaking bagay yung extra seats pag may makikisabay. ako i'm still waiting since end of may for the launching of the 4x2 d4d. alam ko worth naman wait natin. :jump:

I think the 2.5 D4D would be a slow vehicle considering its weight & only 102 hp. if you consider a 2.8 Pajero 126hp slow to accelerate, then this could worse.

I was stuck in traffic last Sunday along Katipunan (near Ateneo) and was fortunate (no pun intended) to see not one, not two, but five Fortuners in a span of 5 minutes. Two silver (one with 19"+ rims), one white, one black, and one brown. Looks like our streets will soon be super-saturated with Fortuners. The Fortuner looks immense when parked next to Nissan X-trails and Honda CRVs, has the "go" to match the "show". Me and my wife are so looking forward to the day when the dealer will contact us and say our unit's (4D grey metallic) ready for pick up. I can't wait to park it next to my '97 Nissan Pathfinder and look at them while having my after dinner bottle of beer. Best regards to all Tsikoteers, I'm just a newbie here and I hope to meet with all of you on the road if not in person soon.

Hi Vmax! Nakakainis talaga ang ibang dealers... Parang sinasadya nila mawalan ng gana ang ibang naka-reserve just so they can have someone jump into the vacated reservation.

I know this is little consolation... But, the unit you are waiting for is truly a great ride. Since, you've got 2 rides, as of the moment, all I can suggest is that you persevere with your wait. Malay mo... Sakto, you find out that your wife is preggy, biglang tawag yung agent that your other baby has arrived!

IMO... oks naman ang Kia Sorento... medyo gas guzzler lang nga ung V6... pero for me oks naman ang CRDi nila. not as fast as the Fortuner but is also capable. the finish of the interior is quite good.

medyo nauubos na rin pasensya ko with this waiting game. made the reservation last may for a black d4d 4x4 fortuner bundled with a silver innova G m/t. sinabi ng agent ko it will be available last june pa pero hanggang ngayon wala. i'm just afraid na by the time available na ang fortuner wala na rin akong available na pambayad.

my agent called me yesterday that if i buy my innova g this aug 12 - 19 sa WTC free and comprehensive insurance and meron pang 10,000 gift certificate. sa fortuner kaya?

Hmmm... I guess totoo ang rumor that there is currently a surplus production of Innovas due to model switching (customers opting for a 2.7G Fortuner, from an 2.5G Innova). Yung nagpareserve kasi ng Innovas didn't cancel their reservations even after transfering to the Fortuner line. So, the dealers are getting stuck with inventories of Innovas. Naku, the Japanese (especially Toyota) pa naman hate inventory. Just-In-Time and gusto nila lagi...

Dagdagan pa nila freebies dapat, so they won't get stuck with inventories. Like a free Fortuner for each Innova you get!

*lexus: Dapat makuha mo nga Fortuner mo if you also get an Innova! There was this guy who got his Fortuner, 'coz he told the agent that he'll also get a HiLux if they deliver his unit ASAP. This happened at Toyota Bicutan... Ito yata yung dad ni Need4Speed. Kaya hayun... He has a Fortuner and a HiLux...

Vmax - hintayin mo na lang yun Fortuner, feeling ko worth it yun wait.

Did any of the current Fortuner owners install a roof mounted DVD system? Ano ang mas ok, 10.4" or 9" na monitor?

But I can say that the 2.5L D4D (same engine with new Fortuner variant) from the Innova, initially felt really sluggish (compared to the gas) even if you put the pedal to the metal (flooring the accelerator).

If you want instantaneous engine response/performance, best to go for the gas, imo. But, as per other user reviews/test drives, the 2.7L gas seems ill-adequate for hauling weights of the Fortuner's capacity. So I guess, this just leaves us with no clear engine choice to pick.

I have a 2.7G and I will tell you it is no slouch. Get a copy of the latest C! mag. A diesel engine will always feel stronger at launch because of the low down torque. But also remember that the gas engine variant is much lighter and will not have to deal with the added weight and friction of a 4X4 powertrain.

Got another OEM accessory... It's a hoodguard. It looked kinda great when I saw it on another unit. And, it did look great on my unit. However, after paying for it and having it installed, I find out that it partially blocks the driver's view over the hood. It's ok during the day when the sun is up ('coz you can partially see through it). But, it's kinda difficult at night.

IMHO, hood guards are useful. it protects the hood from these little stones that causes some ugly looking dings on the hood

however, i do agree that it does not have to be that large.

i have a low profile EGR hood guard for my patrol and it does not even obstruct my vision. neither does it obstruct the intercooler intake hood scoop. its nice and sleek

why dont you guys check out egr, if there is one available for the fortuner already
