relax lang tayo and enjoy the thread.
Tama po kayo dyan. Everyone of us are proud of our hard earned rides in one way or another. I don't think it's bragging, it's being grateful I should say.

Di po ko Fortuner owner and I don't intend to buy one but I enjoy reading all the posts here.

In fact, I think this thread should be MOVED to the Car Clubs Forum instead since the list of owners are obviously growing now and the community of Fortuner owners can have a forum of their own to discuss and compare their new ride. Keeping this list in this forum makes it look like a "bragging" list instead.

    Just a 2 cents.

Looks like I ruffled a hornet's nest. beebs, I said the Future Fortuner Owners "List" doesn't make sense. I did not say the people in that list are senseless. Anyway, since another tsikoteer already explained it in an objective manner that it's just a fun list for people who take pride on something they want to spend their hard-earned money, then that settles it. Nandito kase sa General Forum yung thread pare, so it's open to perceived "negative" comments even from non-Fortuner car enthusiasts, regardless of subject title. In fairness, the discussions about the Fortuner from the owners themselves were very informative. It was the "list" that I was perplexed about. But I already explained my point earlier. So carry on!

    1) Date when reservation was approved by Toyota
    2) How much reservation/downpayment made
    3) What purchasing scheme you availed (e.g. cash, IHF, add-ons, etc)
    4) Name of Toyota Dealer
    5) Model of unit
    6) No. in the waiting line - as given to you by your dealer
    7) Date when your unit actually arrived

Make it my 4 cents now. I'm trying to make your excitement more meaningful guys... not to mention more helpful to those who are also planning to buy.
Information is on a need to know basis hehehe

Yup, looks like it oldblue. The list owner said earlier that the details are not needed (he's probably upset I inadvertedly poured cold water on the house party). So that proves the list is really for Fortuner-owners/future owners only. That's what I was trying to clear out in the beginning.

Classic SUV ang design ng Trooper and the last of its kind na iyan. When it comes to performance i.e. acceleration halos pareho iyan. Some threads here mentioned that they achieve a speed of 190km/hr using their Trooper. Ika nga e attention to detail.

Now with regards to what happen to sir Vicoyski outracing an Alterra, I am pretty sure that if we are to switch the drivers with sir Vicoyski driving the Alterra, I think he will outrun the Fortuner. My point is its the drivers willingness to push his brand new ride rather than the net power of their vehicle. For your information Alterra can easily achieve 160kph. Let us compare their spec:
    ---------------------- Fortuner Alterra Trooper
    Max Output (ps/rpm)--163/3,400 146/3,800 160/3,900
    Max Torque (kg.m/rpm)34.9/3,200 30/2,000 34/2,000

So, based on the figures above although the Fortuner's engine is slightly more powerful but it's heavier because it is a 4x4 (sir Vicoyski's ride) while Alterra is 4x2 hence lighter.

The Fortuner has higher ground clearance compare to Alterra hence more drag so in the end the net power output is pretty close with Alterra ahead in fuel economy and Isuzu's more experience in crdi engines. Some Alterra owners was able to achieve actual 11.5 km/l on 20% urban and 80% highway driving at 120kph-160kph with aircon on and three passengers on board. They said that Alterra is very stable. Of cource, Alterra's top speed is more than this. In fact, the Fortuner, Trooper, and Alterra have the same top speed.

Alterra's fuel consumption is actually rated at 23km/l while your Trooper at 19km/l

When it comes to the Torque the three vehicles are pretty close. With Alterra ahead on safety department because it has EBD, back-up sensor, LED turning lights on side mirrors and grade logic for AT transmission variant. Both vehicles have ABS and dual airbags.

Now, don't get me wrong these are great vehicles it is just a matter of personal preference why other people choose certain vehicle, factor in also brand loyalty and cost.

I take this as a compliment to my driving skills...

But, seriously, what I did was stupid and altogether unsafe. It's something that I am not proud of. Such racing should be done in controlled conditions, in order to ascertain the true performance of any vehicle.

You are right beebs, someone i met in Toyota while waiting for my unit told me there is such list because no choice sila when high ranking people called them.
I am loving every bit of my ride now. Like what Vickoysi said, i am having sleepless nights thinking of what bling blings to put.

*IPSG_SlimShady: Partner, I am very sorry if my earlier reaction to your post seemed harsh... The term "bragging list" was just an unacceptable description of this thread, as you can see from the reaction of several other posters. Anyway, the house party will continue... Your cold water is a welcome refreshment... I hope to see you post more often, as well. Peace...

at biglang tumalon sa opposite lane. na head-on nya yun trooper who
happens to be a presidential adviser of GMA na papunta lang sa work at 530AM.

durog na durog yun harapan ng Trooper as in umabot sa front passenger
seats yun pagka-crumple. while yun Land Cruiser wasak lang yun half ng
    front.

the scion survived and was later on captured somewhere in a fishing boat
in the South escorted by two police superintendents. They were trying
to escape from the backdoor. When arrested, nakiusap yun mga escort

OT: speaking of accidents, i wonder which among the 7 seater SUVs in the market today will best ensure your chances of survival in case of a head on collision?

Just a quick question about the ride quality/smoothness of the Fortuner: I noted that in Tsikot's quick review on the Fortuner (main page on the site) they state that all the bumps and minor shakes are trasmitted directly to your backside (or words to that effect), is this true? Is the ride quality that harsh? I've ridden in a Patrol, Everest, and Sorento and the rides were very smooth, does the Fortuner compare well with these? Thanks for any info.

Compare it with Terrano, 90s Patrol or the 10-seater CRV, fortuner i think is a lot better. It is about the same compared to late 90s land cruiser. You cant compare fortuner with cars like cefiro, altis or camry though.

In terms of smoothness, this is the order of the rides you mentioned (1 being the best):
    1. Sorento (very car-like)
    2. Patrol (latest gas model)
    3. Fortuner
    4. Everest

thanks for the info fortfan, vicoyski...

I was very impressed by the ride quality of the sorento and patrol, and since I'm partial to toyota I was thinking of replacing my altis with a fortuner, thinking that I'ld get a much smoother/more comfortable ride than the sedan, but with what you've said it seems the tsikot reviewers weren't offbase with their comment on the relative harshness of the fortuner's ride.

RHB, You know what? I gave up my Altis for the Fortuner and so far no regrets. (well... it has been only several days)

Vic, have you installed your back up sensor yet?
Which is better? a 2-sensor unit or a 4-sensor unit.

Welcome to all owners of Toyota Fortuner [ARCHIVED]
