kwento lang. nag test drive ako kanina ng 2.3 L mazda tribute, delayed ang response when you floor it. nagje-jerk ka sa initial response. ang layo sa 2.5 d4d engine(diesel pa ito ha).

sa WTC naman yesterday, inaamag yung for test drive na CRV while yung sa innova test drive, haba ng pila.

It looks very nice... But, it's a very dangerous set-up! The Fortuner is a heavy vehicle and has a high degree of body roll during fast and tight turns. With 20" mags, when making a turn at high speed, the rims might cut into the tires and cause them to explode .

This kind of set-up will just limit the amount of speed you can achieve.

tama ka. maganda lang tignan, medyo magiging maingat ka pag maraming nakasakay. for me hanggang 18" lang ako and 60 series ang tires para di maapektuhan ang performance.

fortuner13: What is the trim level of your Fortuner? J nga ba (J ata is for ultra low-end na M/T)? but since it's A/T baka G na sya? Also what color is the interior? ivory/beige pa rin ba? (mahirap kasi i-maintain) sana darker color para hindi madumihin (lalo na pag rainy season).

I'm sure many are already thinking of installing an intercooler.

Yup. I'm just wondering about the cost-efficiency of installing an intercooler. How much kaya aabutin? And how much yung gains?

OT: Maybe we can use this as a guide (from the Mitsu DI-D Hyper Commonrail thread) :

The gain above is clearly 20.69%

For the 4D56NA (84bhp ~ 73ps) vs. 4D56TDIC(107ps) you get around 46.5% (turbo+IC, not IC only); but both instances above are factory-perfect installations with full R&D behind it.

Actually, they would perform and handle better on cornering. The sidewalls are very much reinforced. The draw back with low profile tires on an SUV is off road where you can't deflate or reduce the tire pressure so that the tread would be wider - essential for muddy/sandy/snowy surfaces where traction is needed. Also, there is minimal sidewall protection when you hit a pothole, making your expensive blings succeptable to damage. Ride comfort is also degraded with low profile tires.

    In-house insurance (40K, mura ba?) & In-house financing

    Pro’s

    - Very minimal noise inside, like driving a gasoline engine
    - Engine power ok naman
    - Headlight Very Bright, no need to increase bulb wattage

    Cons

    - still no mud guard protection for the fog lamp on the passenger side
    - aircon vent on the 3rd row is on the passenger side only, 2nd row no aircon vent
    - inside rear view miror is stick on the windshield
    - Horn loudness similar to a tricycle, hehe, d bagay sa size

Fuel consumption, inform you in the future

Where can I find rear sensor? How much kaya?
    congrats on ur new ride,

ask ko lang kung meron cupholder sa pasenger side?
re rear sensor, di sya OEM pero pag binili mo sa dealer mo di daw void sa waranty.

Yesterday while cruising along commonwealth, I saw a silver unit that was encrusted with mud, looks like the owner took it off-roading. I'm just wondering if the Fortuner can be made to tackle "the great outdoors".

Aside from the engine and drivetrain, what else are (obvious) differences between the 2.5L D4-D, 2.7L VVTi and 3.0L D4-D?

One reason is because it's competitively priced compared to other vehicles in its bracket. Its almost a million cheaper than a patrol, a pajero etc... The package is really good and the asking price is reasonable.

This is a common mistake to assume that handling is improved for a SUV, with the replacement of the tires and lowering it's profile. For a car, maybe... But, not for a large SUV. We must remember that the vehicle was primarily designed with the higher center of gravity in mind.

There are, in fact, some actual tests conducted showing that changing the tires can greatly increase the probability of rollover (not only due to tire blow-out but due to rubber drag). I will just have to find the site where I once read it.

Guys! I went to the World of Toyota Exhibit at WTC. Got some pics of the 2.5G Fortuner (D4D).
