In the D4D woes thread we have reported recently of a fellow Tsikoteer whos 2.5L D4D equipped ride experienced hard starting.

I would lean towards the 2.7L VVTi powered Fortuner since it has more power and cheaper too compared to the 2.5L D4D Fortuner variant. The gas consumption is liveable too as reported by Fort 2.7L owners.

Ok naman ang gas kasi mas mura siya. Madami ka na ding gasolinang mabibili due to the lower purchase price.

That is kung decided ka na talaga sa Fortuner and you are not looking at other options anymore.

I own a 2.7L fortuner and Im very satisfied of the performance in terms of fuel consumption, speed, torque, handling, ride comfort & acceleration. I think the choking problems of D4-D was on the 1st batch only. But you can never be sure.. Well I hope this problems end so that consumers will get rid of this choking, hard starting engines lingering off their minds.

I've done 16's to 17's and 18's, and 16's to 20's usually masmatagtag sya because of the smaller side wall of the tire pero better handling ;) I would try to upgrade the tires first... maybe more onroad compliant michellins or continentals? I dunno. Also, try upgraing the suspension like softer shocks and springs.

when i was still in line in 2005 for my vvti fort, i already have a set of 20" mags and tires. i was not also satisfied with the stock 16" rims/tires. my brother then said i need not change my stock rims for my fort to look better. also, mas maiinit sa mata pag maporma ang sasakyan mo (prone to carjackers). eventually, i sold my 20" mags/tires. stick ka na lang sa stock rims natin. maganda na sasakyan natin bro.

Thanks for your advise mga bro!! I decided on keeping it stock na muna!! baka pag bumili na kme ng Hilux tyka ko na papaltan ung stock wheels and tires ko! ililipat ko nalang sa Hilux! then Ill upgrade to a bigger size pero hanggang 18" lang mainit sa mata ang naka 20"s eh! tyaka it can harm the forts ride. any one know the going rate for a 2nd hand Hilux 2.7G 4x2 this days??

tama ka sir. one time nga while parking sa isang mall, di ko napansin ang gutter kaya sumayad ang tires ko. kung naka 20s ako nun siguradong gasgas ang mags. medyo limited kasi ang vision natin while manuevering our forts.

Hi to everyone. This is my first post. I just got a grayish brown gas unit last December. I upgraded from a gen 2 crv which I think rides and drives better. If any of you guys are familiar with the Shark all around cladding, I measured that the paint damage on my bumper will be concealed. Is this a good option?
