How much power does the Fuego make? It's on the owner's manual. If I'm not mistaken, it's around 80 or so. By modern standards, the Fuego is considered very slow. However, if you are content with its power output, the 2.5D4d will be adequate.

    yep maybe 75 to 80hp I think
but the weight ratio of the fortuner its much heavier than a feugo but fortuner have more hp.
so more or less same yung speed feugo 4x2 at fort 2.5? or you think much more speedier yung fort?

    thanks

I'd venture to say that the Fortuner will be faster. Medyo short ang gearing ng Fuego to accomodate accelaration with a full load.

are you sure? i know it can accelerate faster than most, except maybe the sir.

Yep. It's not that fast. It does feel quick by seat of the pants driving. But it is nowhere near the acceleration of even average joe sedans who can bust 60mph in less than 10 when tested using an optical fifth wheel. The dash mount VBox used by some magazines seem to produce even slower number. I don't know if the driver is a factor or the measuring instrument. I also doubt if local acceleration numbers are weather and altitude corrected.

The Fortuner is also quick off the line giving the impression of speed and immense power. Consider that even 177bhp Mitsu Monteros (which are not significantly heavier) are still considered sluggish by modern standards. The earlier 155bhp version even more so.

A 99bhp Pajero will get beaten in a 0-60 instrumented test by a 61bhp Kia Picanto 1.1 LX. I'm not really sure how much faster you can make a Fortuner go considering the engine is only 102bhp and is mated to a slushbox.

we are talking about the 3.0 here not the 2.5. well at least we tried it already with an auto tranny 1.6 car and it out accelerated the latter. we also tried it against a 2.0 suv and it still came out faster.

Yes, I've posted that on the second paragraph. The 3.0 makes 163 bhp and is pretty quick off the line. But my brother's 3.0 Montero (also A/T) can make minced meat of it in a 0-100 sprint when I took home the media unit. And that Montero is not exactly fast by world standards (it was even one of the slowest vehicles tested by Car and Driver for a certain year).

The Fortuner is quite light on its feet for day to day driving. Especially considering its a diesel.

The fortuner's brake design should not be the immediate blame, sure, they are not state-of-the-art but the designers made sure that they (the brakes) will be capable of stopping a mid-sized SUV like the Fortuner if the unit is driven "properly". I've read a lot of articles from car magazines like Car & Driver, Road & Track,... and all the contributors agree that we should all drive responsibly/defensively, that we should be aware of our surroundings, that we should not rely on technology like ABS, EBD, ETC,...
Vehicles like the Fortuner need more distance to stop because of their size and weight. Peace.

Yeah, having a disc/drum set up does not mean inferior braking power. Most of the braking are done by the front wheels anyway. Sure there can be a tendency to fade during long periods of braking or repeated hard stops but not enough to make you fall off a cliff if you know what you are doing.

And with ABS assistance, a Fortuner has a good chance of outbraking even a 4 wheel disc braked but non-ABS SUV when both are driven by non-professional drivers. ABS allows you to brake and steer even in a panic stop situation. Something that is very difficult to do on a non-ABS vehicle.

2.5 D4D owner here and very mich satisfied.

Ride may be stiff but very much tolerable (for me) -- after all this is an SUV.
No problems with the top speed as well. SUVs = not mean to be raced.
For city driving and highways every now and then the Fort is very well equipped.

No problems what so ever with my ride -- hopefully it stays that way.

Hmmm...haven't experienced an Isuzu pick up.
Pero my Fort answers naman when I step on the pedal.
Kelangan lang din marnong ka nag drive ng Automatic.
Yung iba kasi they treat matic trannys the same as manuals.

Also, if you are getting a diesel make sure that the 1st after market add on you get is a turbo timer.
This will preserve your engine in the long run.
Ingat sa patay agad ng makina -- especially after along and/or hard drive.
Masisira agad turbine mo niyan -- baka after 1 year pa lang la na power Fort mo.

    Good luck sa pag bili.

PS: Sorry no idea about the 2007 Fort. Best to ask you local dealer.

hi guys, bumili erpats ko ng old man emu shocks kanina 4 our fortuner na 3.0

i doubt na gaganda ride nya hehe maybe the body roll will be lessen but i doubt mawawala tagtag kasi springs nya stock pa din naman.

maybe the sagging issue at the back will be lessen din siguro.

kasi yun old man na springs will lift the vehicle eh, it will increase the ride height. eh kung hnr kaya? hehe bababa naman hehe

compared sa jazz ko na naka drop, maganda pa ride ng jazz na lowered kesa sa fort namin hehe, hard core kasi ang suspension

Welcome to all owners of Toyota Fortuner [ARCHIVED]
