Ford Explorer. seats 7 also. that's what we use during family long trips. very comfortable and very spacious inside.

fortuner kasi pickup body lang yan na inextend hanggang likod. even yun seating sa likod, yun tipong hindi level tuhod mo sa balakang mo.

    Oops... I beg to differ...

The Fortuner doesn't have an extended pick-up body. It's wheelbase is, in fact, shorter than the Hi-Lux and doesn't have leaf spring suspension (the Alterra, yes). The knee is very much level with your waist for the 2nd and 3rd rows. The 3rd row has a foot well that allows for a more comfortable seated position. You can even slide the 2nd row forward, to allow more legroom for the 3rd row occupants.

if they can live without the 4x4 and really focus on comfort, check out the all new Previa.

    my 2 cents.

The All-new Super Grandia is the best, with the dual sliding doors and the A/V set-up. It's definitely for long haul family drives...

OT na tayo... Let's keep the discussion centered on the subject, for the benefit of those searching for information on the Fortuner.

im planning to put roof box in my fort...the cargo area at the back is too small for my family (BIG family!!!) during long trips.. any cons in installing ROOF BOX?

    Pros:
    - More luggage to carry.
    - More space for your family inside the cabin.

    Cons:
    - Higher center of gravity. You'll need to be more careful during turns.
    - Higher required vertical clearance. You'll need to be wary when going into basement parking areas and when driving under trees.
    - Registration requirement for roof rack & box. It's a requirement of LTO.
    - Increase in fuel consumption due to wind drag (try getting a streamlined box).

Of course, your family's comfort may far outweigh the Cons. Just take note of the precautions.

As to places to buy them, try making a search in the forum. I remember reading somewhere about some stores that carry Thule and some other roof boxes.

    Hope this helps.

You can call Thule's local distributor at 744-6367. They're located at the ground floor of the Equitable PCI Bank Bldg., Ortigas Avenue, Roosevelt St., San Juan, MM.

You can check-out the website at www.thule.com to see which roof box you prefer...

    Hi Guys!

New owner of a Fortuner 2.7G (pre-owned) here!

Any idea where to buy the wheel well cover of the Fortuner besides the casa?

And by the way, how can I secure the spare tire effectively?

    Thanks a lot!

Tire locks are available from the dealer or from Banawe (GoldCars usually has them in stock).

If you go the Goldcars to buy anything for your Fortuner, dont bring your ride with you bec. once they see its a Fortuner then they will charge you a fortune (pun intended) for anything you buy. I learned that from by HIFI. He bought his spare tire lock from Goldcars and was charged less bec. he told them it was for an Innova. Btw, the Fortuner and Innova uses the exact same lock.
