I think lahat ng variants puro leather seats na..

By the way, pati ba yung Gas 2.7G na fortuner pinag-iinitan ng mga carjacker?

Parang nakaka-takot tuloy lumabas sa gabi dala mo yung super pogi mong fortuner..

A Fortuner (whether it be a gas, diesel, 4x4 , 4x2, etc..) is still a Fortuner in the eyes of thieves.

On a lighter note.... it would be unfortunate if the thieves decided to steal or car jack a D4-D Fortuner and only to be rendered helpless by the choking D4-D engine. j/k

I guess it is advisable to undercoat immediately after purchase or when new. If you go to muddy routes then have it retouched every 6 months. If you havent gotten an undercoat yet, I think it is also quite helpful esp . if you dont have the wheel well covers installed on your unit.

The area I'm most concerned where mud might collect is the area surrounding the spare tire. The rear tires kick up lots of mud even with the mud guards attached to the rear bumper already on. One time after going through mud, I hosed this area down and mounds of mud came down (lots of mud also got sprayed as far as the inner area of the rear bumper).

I read yesterday from the special motoring section of the Philippine Star that Toyota Indonesia would join Thailand in manufacturing Fortuners for export.

We'll just have to wait for someone here to buy a unit that came from Indonesia. I dont know why you would assume Indonesian Fortuner could become lemons. Keep in mind, Indonesia also exports Avanza so I dont think they would be any different from Thailand or any other Toyota plants around the world.

    Hehe... just passing through.

RE: Indonesian quality versus Thai/Filipino/Taiwanese. It's less a matter of where it's built, and more a matter of quality control practices by the plants in question. The quality of locally assembled vehicles differs greatly from brand to brand.

I would think almost all units from different manufacturing plants would have the same quality on output. It would not make sense for one toyota site to differ in manufacturing process from the other sites. it would involve more money to do this. it would also be easier and cost less to have one process and implement it to different sites. I would think that all toyota plants use the same process throughout its manufacturing and assembly. I am not sure but it also does not make sense to have internal competition(thai vs indonesia) since they all report and align to one organization. and since they align to one org at the top, I would think the process downloaded from the top would be the same when communicated to all plants underneath its org.

Have it undercoated first and then let dry for two months or more and install Seemok wheel well cover.

Note: Once the wheel well cover is installed, you will not be able to retouch with undercoat the area that is being covered bec. the wheel well covers are quite a hassle to remove and re-install even with professional installers.

Yep. Kaya medyo bagsak ang quality ng U.S. made cars kasi hindi masyado maganda ang morale ng mga workers sa assembly plant. Never mind if everything looks good on paper (the machines, the processes, etc.), pero kung hindi happy ang gumagawa, olats pa din.

There have been incidents of U.S. workers leaving nuts and bolts inside the hollow area of the doors and/or not tightening bolts to spec because they were not happy with their employers.

I am planning to buy a SUV. Na-shortlist ko na sa tatlo: Fortuner, Santa Fe and Alterra. Top of my list is Fortuner 2.5 Crdi dahil pinakamura and more pogi points. But before I buy the Fortuner, can somebody enligthen me on the following:
    1. Are the problems of D4D 2.5 been solved?
    2. Mainit pa ba sa mga mata ng carjackers/carnappers and Fortuner? Me bago bang insidente
    3. Which Toyota dealer give discount. Been to some but they dont give any.

    TY po....

We could never know the real deal here since incidents might not be reported or are not receiving the kind of attention as before.

Dealers usually dont offer discounts bec. Toyota Phils wants all the dealers to have a uniform or consistent pricing scheme. To differentiate a bit, they might offer to give out freebies to buyers.
