istan, had the rotor refacing at about 19TKm but they covered it by warranty. the brake pads though were not covered, ang mahal at P8.5T both L&R sets.

No, I didn't think it would be. At 20-30k, talagang palitin na yung pads. That's the price of performance. Pero mataas nga price ng OEM pads nila. Kaya madami nag uupgrade na to aftermarket -- which sometimes causes more rotor issues.

    Guys,

I'm thinking of replacing my Escape with Forester and want to know what are the differences between Forester 2.0 and 2.5. Do you think this is a good decision as I also thinking of getting a Montero Sport. I am a Family Man with 2 kids, and this will be just a daily driver from pque to alabang and almost weekly to Tagaytay... and we have 2 cars, my wife drive a Swift... so Forester 2.0 or Montero Sport 2.5?

    Thanks!

2.0 is an N/A engine while the 2.5 is turbocharged, making it 80hp difference. plus with the 2.5 there are unlimited mods that you can do to it unlike the 2.0 where the mods are very limited. if you have the extra 300k pesos, get the 2.5, it has leather seats, power front seats, better brakes, better suspension, better rims and tires, rear spoiler, better engine, unlimited mods. for me the 2.5xt is the best japanese suv when it comes to performance, it's competitors are not even close to it.

but if you're not planning to get the 2.5 and you're looking for performance get the montero sport instead of the 2.0. i'm not saying that the montero sport has a better performance than the 2.0, pero kasi parang bitin sa power ang 2.0 but handling wise mas may advantage ang 2.0 kesa montero sport. also mas maganda ang features and interior ng 2.0 kesa sa montero sport, the inside of the montero sport kasi feels very cheap.

If you need to bring helpers, then get the Montero Sport. Otherwise, get the Forester (safety and performance).

Value for money wise, mas pinili ko ang Forester 2.0 4x4 AT over the Montero 2.5 GLS 4x2 AT. The Forester's sunroof alone made me smile for a long time. The only Montero worth buying for me is the top of the line 3.2 GLS SE which has better features and the same engine as the Pajero. If I had 1.7M, it would be a choice between 2.5XT forester vs 3.2 GLS SE Montero. But due to budget constraint, I can only choose between the 2.5 Montero vs 2.0 Forester. So I chose the Forester 2.0x.

Congrats on the purchase Powerloord! Just go easy on the car washing after use and check the coolant level once in a while.

hehe. Buti di mo tinest drive yung FXT, baka na overbudget ka ...

But I heard there're many go-faster packages at several shops for the 2.0X now ...

congrats! you've made a great choice.

if you ever need a good car wash, go at hillsborough detailers. very popular car wash for subaru club. you'll meet a lot of the subaru guys out there and hillsborough is really the best at what they do.

AFAIK sir, orange, speedlab, and emperor all have them. Cost of go-faster packages vary depending on how much faster you wanna go. Cheapest is probably single mod na bolt-on -- either intake, headers, or exhaust, then tuning. Alam ko mga drop-in filter nasa mga 6-20K sila. Or puwede din all 3.

Meron na din yata turbo kit ... pero alam ko mga 150-200K yun.

Meron din alcohol/meth injection at water sprayer on the intercooler. The latter promises to be cheap(er) but I have no idea how much.

Ask around at the shops for more info .. reputable naman lahat yan.

yes expensive talaga dahil OEM yan plug and play na lang sa forester not that hard to install. worth every peso naman, it comes with a reverse camera and ipod dock which will charge your ipod and at the same time the steering controls will work for the ipod. dvd, battery monitor, tire pressure monitor.

Baka pwede mong pagapangin wiring sa ilalim ng dash board then up sa A pillar sa driver side para hindi ganun kalabas yung wire na nasa gitna.

MI wont commit on a date at all but Australia finally has it (they only petitioned Fuji to get it but they weren't originally supposed to get it) so the prospects are looking better that this'll get here sooner or later.
