Consumable po ang cabin AC filter ng lahat ng sasakyan. Pero yung ibang old vehicles wala nitong feature na ito kaya wala ng pinapalitan.

There are more affordable options for consumables but generally, don't expect banawe parts and prices for subaru. It's also the reason it's not takaw-nakaw though.

Guys, my sales agent texted that my forester unit is available. He said for LTO registration they are charging about P12,000 and I could ask for a plate number ending in 8. How much should I pay for LTO registration? Since it's only February, would LTO registration be cheaper if I choose a plate number ending in 1 or 2?

Fuel consumption should be about 7.5 km/lit. Check out subaruclub.ph -- there are units even in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Pabasa mo 'to sa kanya: http://www.topgear.com.ph/features/c...ubaru-forester

It's a TG column on fuel economy: Rav4 vs. CRV vs. Forester XT. Quite surprising that the writer was able to hit 8km per liter on the Forester.

Ralph, I got the Dark Gray Metallic. Choice of colors: Satin White Pearl, Newport Blue, Obsidian Black, Dark Gray Metallic, Camellia Red Pearl, Sage Green Metallic and Steel Silver Metallic. I think they make their orders to Japan based on the buyer reservations. Tinanong kasi ako kung ano preferred color ko: 1st option- Dark Gray Metallic, 2nd - Satin White and 3rd - Newport Blue.

    Guys,
Got my forester in aug '08 and now at 19Tkm, the front brake rotor disks has to be refaced due to uneven braking (covered by warranty though). Motor Image SA told me that this is a common prob with forester. I told them that instead of just refacing, the rotors and the pads should be totally replaced too. Would like to know your experiences on this and what was done by MI to correct. Thanks.

What kind is your ride po and what is the common use and is it all stock? My 07 FXT is 50-50 mixed driving. It has just had a pad change after 2 years and 35Thou Kms. No reface yet but was told malapit na.

AFAIK, pads and rotors are consumable like oil -- they really don't just replace it under warranty. I guess yours just wore out too fast compared to others that's why they replaced it.

My 02 Civic also had a reface after 3+ years so the reface itself isn't really the issue (mura lang yun pati) but more on why yours warped too fast. Three culprits are common -- harsh aftermarket pads, hard driving, and moisture accumulation in the pads/rotors.

The latter is the MOST common problem that is not so well-known by drivers. Frequently putting on e-brake right after after driving (without cooling down) will result in rotor wear -- it's sort of like putting on the e-brake after just coming from a flood -- the brakes will stick. Worse is having the car washed right after a long drive -- just a few of those and the rotors are sure to warp.

So medyo low frequency. Pati impreza ganun e.
What I did was change the headunit. Its worlds apart. May boses na sa likod. :D

Thanks pup2 for the reply. Mine is '09 model Forester 2.0, all stock. Commonly used for city driving only, sometimes lang sa highway. MI had the front rotor disks refaced under their warranty. I insisted it should be replaced but they said as SOP, initially they will reface the rotors but if it recurs, even beyond warranty period since there's history already, that's the time the rotors would be replaced. The pads were replaced also, wow too expensive at P8.5T, due to uneven wear. I guess you are right in saying that we should avoid carwash after heavy use. But the SA also mentioned that the pads and the rotors are of the soft surface type. Whatever that means, I hope it does not mean regularly dealing with uneven front brakes. TY

Yep, I just checked -- my rotors are still 'virginal' -- not even refacing after 2 years and 30K kms. Pero sa Subaru Club, several peeps have already succumbed to early rotor replacement due to washing without cooling down. I think there's even more in other countries.

IDK why they use soft rotors, but so far, all its shown is increased sensitivity to temp change. Its not even prone to fading. The 'bite' on my brakes seemed 'mushy' to me initially but a change to Motul brake fluid fixed that.

Batang Pasig, what's your mileage at the time of re-facing your rotors? My Impreza has the same problem. It came up at around 18k kms. 20k na ako ngayon. Casa is saying I should re-face the rotors at a cost of P2,500. I'm thinking if pwede sya ipa-warranty.

they use shell helix ultra 5W-40. but if i were you, i'd buy from outside then have it serviced sa MI. may corkage fee lang nga na P50/ liter but still, mas mura pa rin from outside
