the question was HAS THE CURVE FLATTENED?

    everyone here says no

i said based on the meaning of flatten the curve, di naman overwhelmed hospitals natin

so i am actually agreeing with Minguita Padilla

I am just saying that she's not stupid and not just "any babae". She is a doctor and I respect her opinion. I find it hard to believe that a well respected doctor does not know what flattening the curve means.

i keep seeing the morbidity-mortality numbers.

    as our ethics teacher said,
"those numbers, even if small, don't mean anything, if you are one of those numbers."
    yes i understand

thing is, our country decided to adopt that flatten the curve thing which is a western concept

that concept may pagka defeatist -- it's like saying wala tayo magagawa di natin mapipigil yan all we can do to slow it down so our hospitals can handle it

other asian countries didn't adapt that concept

they went medieval and just tested and traced and isolated people

HK and SK used home quarantine but they used technology to make sure people don't leave their homes

poorer asian countries used centralized quarantine facilities to hold infected people

i did not say she doesn't know what flatten the curve means

i was referring to some people here who keep using that term but didn't know what it meant

i'm the only one here who says the curve seems to have flattened coz our hospitals aren't overwhelmed

which is what Dr Padilla sees

but everyone here keeps insisting the curve hasn't flattened coz of hundreds of cases reported daily

my point is those daily cases aren't the basis of flatten the curve

the basis is whether hospitals are overwhelmed or not

Paulit ulit sa kanya na mismo ng gagaling, the more you test the more you'll know that there's a lot of asymptomatic there.

Talking about contradiction. "hindi kaya ng government natin"

ano naman ang kinalaman ng test and backlog sa pag punta sa ospital ng isang may covid?

ang taong may sarscov2 kahit hindi mo itest pag hindi na siya makahinga pupunta at pupunta sa hospital yan

mahuhuli mo lang ang mga asymptomatic pag i-loosen mo ang testing criteria to include those without symptoms

since limited ang number of test kits & lab capacity the gov't put criteria like kailangan may travel history, may close contact, HCW etc

if the gov't has 500,000,000 test kits and 10,000 labs sige itest mo buong bansa

it's only to slow down the infections

push it further into the future
Flatten the curve until a vaccine is created, and para those with severe and critical cases can get the proper treatment.

My question is base on a scenario na 80% or atleast 50% of the population will get tested and here you are post ka ng post tungkol sa meaning ng flattening the curve.

Like what i said, If you believe that asymptomatic patient doesn't need medical attention and we'll base on the data we have "now".

Feel free to assume that it's already flattened.

if you're smart you could have argued -- kaya hindi overwhelmed ang mga ospital kasi ung mga hindi makahinga sa bahay nalang namamatay

so if you want to know the true state of things i'll tell you what to do

get data on number of deaths (all cause mortality) in the first 4 months of previous years

    2019, 2018, 2017... para may basehan

all cause mortality meaning lahat ng cause of death kahit sakit kahit aksidente basta total number of deaths

tapos get data on number of deaths Jan to April 2020

pag nakita mo extraordinarily high ang number of deaths in the first 4 months of 2020 there's your true situation

^you yourself believed that there's a lot of asymptotic roaming around out there? why do we even need those data?

Since you believe that asymptomatic patient doesn't need medical attention at pabayaan na lang natin na kahit ikaw mismo nagsabi na gusto mo i-isolate,

Sure it's already flattened no problem.

for the nth time uulitin ko

    basta kaya ng hospital system

the curve is under the horizontal line

    ==

the more you test the more cases you'll find

because this virus is as contagious / more contagious than the common cold / flu

so i believe there are many people who are already infected but don't have symptoms

and if you don't detect them you can't isolate them

you need to isolate the asymptomatics coz nakakahawa sila

    so paano mo i-isolate

So data is not accurate after all for them to tell that is was indeed flattened already?

As per DOH definition, flattening the curves includes being able to manage those suspected, asymptomatic and with mild symptoms patients.

Again babagsak tayo sa "hindi naman kelangan ng medical attention ang mga asymptomatic" if you believe that sure. Flattened na nga.
