Brazilian health authorities say they have agreed with Oxford University to carry out Phase Three trials, which involve a larger number of people, to determine the long-term safety and efficacy of the vaccine.
Vaccine injections are scheduled to start next week on 2,000 medical personnel and other volunteers in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil has the world's second-largest number of coronavirus infections, behind the United States.
With cases of infection growing, Brazil's government hopes that accepting vaccine trials would help speed up anti-infection measures.
AstraZeneca says although there's a possibility that the vaccine may not work, it's preparing for mass production.
