    What is "flattening the curve"?

    What is "flattening the curve"?

    ANSWER

You may have seen a graph on social media called "flattening the curve." That graph shows a tall, narrow curve and a short, wide curve. Through the graph is a line that shows how many sick people U.S. hospitals can treat. The tall curve goes above the line. That means too many people are sick at one time: We won't have enough hospital beds for all the people who will need treatment. The flatter curve shows what happens if the spread of the virus slows down. The same number of people may get sick, but the infections happen over a longer span of time, so hospitals can treat everyone.

    Ok

2 things -- first, i know how a lot of people hate the WHO for being China's health agency... why all of a sudden people believe them?

    they've been wrong before

like sabi nila dati walang human-to-human transmission ang SARSCOV2

second, sa tagalog meron tinatawag na "binat"

ung akala mo gumaling na tapos bumalik ung lagnat -- nabinat tawag sa ganyan diba?

so an obvious question is -- meron ba nabibinat matapos gumaling sa covid?

Mga kahit mga dumadaan and nag stop sa Valenzuela doing their regular things or mga workers from Bulacan. Kung sila lang gagawa niyang eh pwede pa rin makahawa an if other cities won't do the same.

    i-temperature check nila mga papasok

    tapos bawal di naka mask

    Like a scene from Contagion...

Infecting Subjects May Speed Covid Vaccine Studies, WHO Says

Deliberately infecting healthy volunteers with the virus that causes Covid-19 may speed studies of vaccines against the deadly pathogen, the World Health Organization said.

Such studies, which pose significant potential dangers to subjects, may be considered in dire situations and with certain disclosures and protections, a working group of the United Nations health agency said in a report posted Wednesday on its website.

Researchers around the world are racing to develop vaccines to protect against the deadly coronavirus and allow countries to rebuild teetering economies. So-called challenge studies, where treatments or preventatives are tested directly against the infection in informed volunteers, might speed the path of vaccines to the public.

Challenge studies “can be substantially faster to conduct than vaccine field trials,” according to the working group paper, “in part because far fewer participants need to be exposed to experimental vaccines in order to provide (preliminary) estimates of efficacy and safety.”
