1 in 4 people who get the coronavirus may show no symptoms but still be contagious. Here's the latest research on asymptomatic carriers. | Business Insider

kaya nirereiterate ung social distancing etc etc
which is why this virus spreads so fast and wide

it's coz many carriers don't feel anything they're healthy they can go around fly around

unlike other viral infections that are only contagious when symptoms show, mas madali mo madetect and isolate

or viral infections that are so bad by the time you're contagious you're already bedridden (like ebola) so the virus doesn't spread very far

thing about viruses that are too fatal is that they can't spread easily coz they quickly run out of hosts

this corona19 doesn't kill everyone and doesn't make people sick agad (actually ang tagal nga) kaya ang dali kumalat

napansin niyo those people who got hospitalized

they say for example nagka mild symptoms sila early March

pero late march na sila naospital

this virus can take weeks to make you sick

and napansin niyo ung recoveries na nadischarge

    na-admit sila 3 to 4 weeks ago

    matagal din gumaling

    this virus is really something

    hindi ito flu lang

    --

emergency room people are saying kakaiba daw itong virus

they're used to seeing people die in the ER but not at this rate

Thanks bro. Fort Bonifacio at 24 with 2 recoveries! I am assuming my friend is 1 of the 2. Asymptomatic and was only discovered positive because the partner was coughing. Cleared after a week but on house quarantine for another 2 weeks.

Hindi naman mag-aalala ang mga experts kung hindi kakaiba itong SARS-COV na ito.

For starters, hindi ito tulad ng flu. Flu is caused by Influenza virus, not corona virus.

But more concerning is how easily it can be transmitted. I am not a microbiologist/virulogist but afaik this corona virus has a lot of different proteins sa outershell (that looks like a crown hence corona) that is used to attach to health cells of our body. The virus proteins should match the host cell eh sa dami ng proteins nito eh ang laki ng chance it will attache to health cell once inside us. Highly contagious.

Yung pneumonia nito also causes scarring sa lungs. Parang permanent damage. If someone happens to be infected tapos may pneumonia, kahit maka-recover, the lungs will never be the same.

And sa mga naka-recover, Ive read it takes months to really get back to being normal. Ano kaya ito parang mono-nucleosis na tumama kay Roger Federer nun?

oh yeah like I didn't know sarscov2 is a coronavirus and flu viruses like h1n1 are a different family of viruses

What I meant was people like Trump and others who were downplaying this virus by saying "it's just the flu"

    You're too literal dude

The damage to the lungs is caused not only by the virus itself but also by immune response to the virus (inflammation)

that's why rheumatoid arthritis / lupus drug hydroxychloroquine is said to work on corona19 patients

RA and lupus are inflammatory diseases

They and any other skeptics out there are more than welcome to prove the experts wrong. They can visit any of the overcrowded hospitals and get infected themselves, and feel first hand if it's like the common flu or not.

The overcrowding, lack of ventilators etc shouldn't be a problem to them since, hey, just the common flu right?

In fact, why not further prove your point by exposing your entire family to Covid-19, so you can all share a humongous i-told-you-so moment?

    Any takers?

true. vietnam closed their borders as early as january 27 (if memory serves me right).

one thing i've noticed though bro is that the countries w/ the lowest numbers of covid19 deaths and infectees have authoritarian gov'ts. aside from having the ability to easily reign in and command their citizens to hunker down, they also have the power to restrict the passage of information. so could it be that data coming from those nations aren't as forthright as the more democratic ones?

and also i've read somewhere that indonesia now has the highest number of plague casualties in the asean region. i just don't know how true though.
