Saklap.

first animal (tiger) confirmed positive of covid19 virus. suspected human to animal transmission.

The cats were infected by a caretaker who had COVID-19 but was asymptomatic, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society. They don't yet know how the virus develops or affects big cats. The zoo has implemented preventative measures to prevent exposure in other cats. Nadia was tested out of "an abundance of caution" after symptoms started on March 27, the zoo said, and it hopes that any information gained will contribute to the world's understanding of the virus, which has infected more than a million people around the world.

There is no evidence that animals can spread COVID-19 to people, the USDA said in a statement, but the CDC is recommending that people with the virus avoid contact with pets and other animals.

DOLE and DSWD better not mess this up. Hunger and desperation could make people do crazy things.

basically if you want to get this epidemic in NCR under control (let's talk about NCR muna ha)

you gotta identify those who are carrying the virus and isolate them para hindi na sila makahawa

the only way you can identify syempre is by testing

after knowing who is positive ilagay mo ung tao sa quarantine facility

that's why inihanda ng gobyerno mga facility like rizal memorial, picc, world trade etc

this is gonna be a lot of work

tsaka etong mass testing is only for those who are symptomatic

kaya this isn't gonna bring down infections to zero coz the asymptomatics will still be out there

but this is gonna bring down the R-naught number significantly

I wonder if there will be animal to human transmission. Also sucks to be the one to swab the nose of tigers. [emoji23]

agree but imho the test should be as accurate as possible because the virus is very contagious. that one false negative could be out of quarantine and infecting other people

and even PCR test can come out false negative

minsan ung swab di mahuli ung virus

sa China (oo alam ko madami galit sa China dito pero hear me out first) they swab the throat AND the nose

after 3 months experience in dealing with this virus alam ng China how tricky it is

ung body temperature cut off nila is 37 unlike sa ibang lugar dapat 38 or something

watch this video how meticulous China is

    forget muna your bias

while watching keep in mind their actions come from 3 months experience (they have more experience with this virus than any other country)

It is understandable that the DOH advocates the PCR test for hospitals, because each confined patient needs precise diagnosis for exact medication. But city and municipal health workers are monitoring residents in communities blindly, because they don’t have access to any test kit. They should be provided with rapid test kits for them to accomplish the “detect-isolate-treat” strategy of the government. We will flatten the curve by doing fast and mass testing in the communities, not by doing few and slow tests in the hospitals.

Even if we say that the rapid test can only correctly identify 88 out of 100 persons who are positive for the antibodies, that’s 88 infected people disabled from being “spreaders.” And even if the PCR test gives more precise results (although it can also yield wrong results), its precision advantage is cancelled out by its slowness and scarcity. While long lines of people are waiting to be PCR-tested, the undetected positive ones continue to spread the virus.
