they can move their shift schedules, to accomodate curfew hours.
that is, if they want to.

Doc, are you serious? Hindi hawak ng employees ang oras nila especially those at the entry or lower levels. Bihira naman ang flexible working schedule and even if flexible may maximum range din yan. Lalo sa BPO na they have to work on the timezone of the country they service.

Their schedules are dictated by the timezone of the overseas clients they support. You can't just dictate to your client what time you want to work.

That's not how BPO works. If you want to maintain the client you need to have people assigned on their work schedule. Maybe you can change your shift but another person have to be assigned to replace you. Or you will lose your client.

    that's what shifts are for.
    no big deal.
ilang oras lang ba naman yang curfew? 10 pm to 4 am? 12 midnight to 4 am? that's easy to manage.
ngayon pa, when WFH has been shown to work?

exactly! It would be ridiculous to tell an Americas client na I am working APAC time dahil sa curfew

Mas lalo pang strict sa hindi BPO, like sa banking fixed talaga ang working hours and only the officers can have flexi, back office pa yun.

It is a big deal doc, iba ang shifting sa medical field sa BPO or corporate. It is required that the overseas client and BPO at the minimum have an overlap in working schedule, if not the same. How else will they work together?

then put the person they want to talk to, in the shift that overlaps.
it's no big deal, unless you are the person who doesn't want to adjust.

the issue is how to go about it and still satisfy local curfew.
    local curfew isn't 8 hours.
    i see no big problem.

Many clients don't put all their eggs in one basket, kumukuha yan ng vendor on multiple country, tapos sa isang country multiple company pa. So a BPO company is not just in competition with India they are also in competition with their kababayans. So kung isa kang vendor at inarte ka na wala kang malagay na tao dahil curfew they give easily give the contract to the Indians.

doc, WE are telling you that is NOT how it works. It's not about talking to one person, they work as a team and have similar/identical tasks so the same shift. They have KPIs and a balanced scorecard to measure their work output (eg time and quality) Kapag nag red yan, patay sila. Sa BPO pag ang agreed upon shift is X di mo pwede basta sabihin sa cliente na papaltan mo, like what BratPAQ says, they will lose clients. Our company has a separate call center so I have an idea of how it works. I don't think I will ever be able to deal with that kind of stress na lahat na lang measured kaya I have empathy for BPO workers.

That's true.
