Even after receiving her second dose of the Sinovac vaccine last month, Soh, a 43-year-old Singaporean, was unsure about her immunity levels. So she went to get an antibody test – and the result took her by surprise.

Her antibody count stood at 140, a figure her doctor said was about 10 times lower than what someone would have after two Pfizer-BioNTech doses, which along with Moderna shots are provided free to residents of the island nation above the age of 12.

“My doctor had repeatedly advised me to go for Pfizer or Moderna, but I decided to give Sinovac a try as I wanted to see how strong the vaccine is,” she said, adding that she had read reports of it being of lower efficacy than the others but did not believe that was the case.

“I was a little disappointed,” added Soh, who works in the banking industry and asked that only her last name be used for privacy reasons. She paid about S$20 (US$15) for the two jabs at a private clinic. Her husband and sister also received Sinovac doses, and their antibody counts were 400 and nine, respectively.

Following a sharp spike in Singapore’s domestic cases this month, and fearing they would catch Covid-19, all three of them decided to get another dose – but this time, they elected for Pfizer. Soh’s antibody count shot up to 1,900 after that jab.

Pwede ba mag recur covid? If I was exposed August 22, my symptoms started Aug 25 and my last day of isolation was Sep 7, can my symptoms go back? Masama kasi pakiramdam ko. I am not sure if it's because I got tired. I cleaned my car (wearing a mask) tapos nagpalit pa ko bed sheet then I'm feeding my labs na in the afternoon. I'm trying to do my normal activities na kasi

None. Once lang ako lumabas Sep 8 for my passport renewal tapos I isolated again with my Mom naman so next na labas ko sa room was Sep 19 (kahit sabi ng Dr pwede na kami both lumabas Sep 12)

Grabe naman yung kung Sep 7 day 14 ko tapos Sep 8 mahawa ako ulit. Nakaka depress talaga yung parati na lang may nararamdaman Plus yung trauma ko pa na nahawa ako kahit sobrang ingat ko

Ibang klase ginawa sa mental health ko ng covid. Paranoid na nga ko na triple pa I am so traumatized talaga kahit alam ko na may immunity ako from surviving it. Naiisip ko naman yung doctor na 4x na covid Pero napansin ko parang ang bilis ko nga mapagod pero at least normal heart rate ko and no shortness of breath unlike my Paulinian friend na its been over a month may ubo pa rin at 100+ ang resting heart rate! Baka nga mag meds na siya to lower heart rate

Recur, not yet. But Covid is known to affect the heart & lungs. A story related to me about a doctor in his 30s who got Covid a few weeks ago here in Alabang. After he recovered & cleared of the infection, he went biking with his siblings around the village. Soon, he got winded & decided to turn back. Upon reaching his home’s gate he collapsed & died.
Your body might still be recovering. I’d take it easy for now.
