WTH sobrang contagious ng delta variant!

I called my childhood BFF to tell her that our driver will drop off something at her house, when she answered the phone she sounded AWFUL! I asked her what happened and she said she has fever, sore throat and LBM. Wala na rin taste and smell! I told her that is covid na and if she got tested e ayaw! Her husband and only son are sick as well. Ayaw talaga pa swab e naguilty pa ko kasi the last time she went out was to buy fruits for me pero possible din sa son niya nang galing kasi he played sports and he was first to get sick.

Sobrang daming nahawa ng Aug to Sep! My friend is super paranoid din e germophobe na yun even before the pandemic. I hope this is the worst variant na and since ang dami ng na covid e magkaron na ng immunity mga tao. Kami ng mga friends ko who managed to stay safe for 1.5 yrs since the pandemic, we weren't able to escape delta

    octa's data comes from gov't

if fewer people are getting tested octa is wrong

I don't think octa is basing their prediction on daily number of cases alone. Ikaw na rin nagsabi na x10 or x100 mo pa yang daily cases to get the real numbers. Sa positivity palang we came from 1 out of 4 positive to now 1 out of 5.

    i was commenting on this

pababa na daw positivity rate and R0

octa is looking at gov't numbers

MANILA - The trend of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila is declining, OCTA Research Group said Sunday.

The capital region's positivity rate and reproduction rate have declined to 19 to 20 percent and 0.94, respectively, according to Guido David. A virus reproduction rate of less than 1 is ideal, authorities earlier said.

"Ngayon, medyo bumilis ang pagbaba. Nag-umpisa 'yan nasa MECQ (modified enhanced community quarantine) tayo. So in part, nakatulong naman ang lockdown natin, at least sa pagbaba ng bilang ng kaso," David told ABS-CBN's TeleRadyo.
pero ang theory kaya daw bumababa dahil mas konte nagpapatest

kung ang numero ng gobyerno di reflective of true situation then octa is wrong

    that's my point

in other words, kung madami parin nagkaka-covid pero di lang nagpapa-test (so doesn't show up in gov't numbers)

then octa saying things are getting better is wrong

coz their "research" is based on gov't numbers

It's been always my belief and as you as well (you mentioned it last year) na marami hindi nag papa test ever since this pandemic began.

I will just shove that under error margin. I tend to ignore the total cases per day as those isn't reliable. Nasa quoted article mo na that they relied on positivity rate and r0 on their predictions. Yes as always marami hindi nag papa test and that may affect the positivity rate a bit, and we have an abysmal contact tracing so our r0 wouldn't be exact. But those have been the case since last year pa.

sa friends ko na nag overlap ang covid namin, marami din na initially ayaw magpa test (just like me) Good thing nauna na ko so I was able to convince agad and recommend a lab. Yung BFF ko tinago kasi sakin sakit niya at ayaw talaga pa test. Hindi na rin recommended since day 9 na niya ng symptoms today. Yung iba naman since may isa ng positive na confirmed ng swab, pag nag symptoms sila they assume lang na meron na rin sila covid. Pero definitely yung delta buong household talaga unlike last year na usually 1 or 2 lang nagkaka covid.

Naisip nga namin ng Mom ko, ilan kaya sa street namin may covid na household.

which is why we need other indicators to know the true situation

like in a few weeks when we hear anecdotal reports from healthcare workers and ambulance crews "mas konte na covid patients"

or declining demand for oxygen, tocilizumab

    tama.
when we hear news reports that the emergency rooms and the hospital queues have disappeared...
... when anyone who wishes to be confined due to covid is confined...
