... although natural immunity is still preferable to zero immunity,
i certainly would not recommend intentionally getting infected, to acquire it.
instead, let's get vaxxed.
let's DOH it!
it also means that those previously infected but had since recovered, still stand a significant chance at getting re-infected.
medical literature is full of examples of second, third, and even a fourth viral experience.
our own colleague, got it, twice, over a span of four months. whether it was the same strain or not, it was not determined.

COVID Reinfections Have Jumped 3% Since May | Public Radio Tulsa
The Oklahoma State Department of Health is now tracking people who catch COVID a second time.
OSDH considers a case a reinfection if it comes at least 90 days after the first one.
The latest state epidemiology report shows the coronavirus has reinfected almost 4,700 vaccinated and unvaccinated Oklahomans so far this month, and reinfections have risen more than 300% since May.
Dr. Jennifer Clark who is part of OSU’s Project ECHO says the Delta variant is responsible for the big rise in repeat cases.
“You can see how much that has jumped during the Delta surge,” said Clark.
Continuing to track the numbers may lead to more answers about natural immunity after a person has COVID, especially as we move through more stages in the pandemic.
“It’s just another trend line that we can watch to kind of see these kind of endemic pop-ups as we move into that state throughout the latter part of the acute pandemic,” said Clark.
The report also shows breakthrough infections for fully vaccinated people have jumped from 503 in May to more than 9,400 in September.
While the number of reinfections is lower, the rate of repeat cases is double the rate of breakthrough infections.

when they said "breakthroughs are rare" they sounded so sure
so sure that their assumptions were used to form policy
US CDC said pwede na daw di mag mask mga fully vaccinated
then as breakthroughs increased pina-mask uli mga tao
Sana they included what vaccine brands were used...

sorry i need to explain further
covid is very political sa US
it was assumed that fully vaxxed people cannot catch the virus and cannot spread the virus
gov't said fully vaxxed people can go around without mask
then binawi nila
ang point ko gov't needs to be careful
yes i know that's how science works
but it's not scientists that form policy
gov't listens to scientists then form policy
knowing how politically charged the environment is, gov't needs to be extra careful
coz this is what happens when gov't flip flops

because when half your country is already skeptical of vaccines / refuse to get vaxxed
policy errors make things worse
like this
when your country is THE manufacturer of the 2 most in demand covid vaccines in the world
but you can't convince half your population to get vaccinated
yeah i know how science works, thanks

Mga trumpist lang nagpapalaki ng issue sa flip flopping.
Wala naman ako nakikita masama sa pagbawi dahil it means they are listening to scientists and experts.
Nag based lang sila sa kung anong data meron sila then nagbago so kailangan din nila baguhin.

A lot of governments are flip flopping
Even good ones like Singapore are moving back and forth with their restrictions
They just flipped back even if they are 80% vaccinated

in the case of singapore, citizens have very high trust in their gov't
and covid is not a political issue in singapore
ibang iba sa US
But if its true then Our governments flip flopping is acceptable since most other gov't in the world is doing the same thing.
citizens that have very high trust in their gov't (Taiwan, Singapore etc) ok lang the gov't flip flops once in a while
pero when half your country already hates the other half
and the president is viewed as illegit (stolen election)
