How about Motul or Liqui Moly? Are these brands ok too and significantly better than Shell's?
Thanks, I will need to research more on this.
I asked about these oil brands because I'm considering on having the old cars serviced for an oil change at this shop which is selling both motul and liqui moly. They also sell Mag1 Euro synthetic. The shop seems to be of good reputation. They also offer some promos:

After yojin I might consider this shop for the M3.
If 5W-30 is not available, is it safe to use 5W-40? How about 10W?
I would stay with 5w30. There's a reason why it's required by the manufacturer.
If it's not available at PowerTorq maybe you can request them to order for you or ask if you can bring in your own oil and just pay for labor.
I haven't had the chance to look for other shops in our area. Yojin3 spoiled me for 3 years.
Our cars previous to the 3 were all shadetree maintained.
Looks like you have found a trustworthy mazda casa [emoji108]
My 1st pms experience with this mazda casa where I bought my M3 was somewhat unsatisfactory. A simple pms routine took at least 2.5 hours to complete! Hidden camera inside the car recorded the oil change only took 15 mins. All those supposedly maintenance checkup items like bolt tightening weren't really done. Only the oil change and battery check were done. Hopefully this other mazda casa where I plan to have the 2nd pms done will provide a better service.
Wasn't all that good but their location was convenient for me. I was also able to observe the maintenance bay from the service counter area so that counted for something.
I learned to take the earliest available appointment. If you come in around lunch time prepare for a long wait.
Just make sure it's API Group IV, not Group III synthetic. EuroFS oils can't call the latter synthetic oils.

The pms was scheduled weeks before the appointed date. Arrived 30 mins early. Car was placed inside the service bay on time. Not much activity going around the service bay for an hour. Mechanic did the oil change for 15 mins. Car was sitting at the service bay for another hour. Service personnel told me after 2.5 hours that car is ready.
I even told the service personnel that they don't need to do the tire rotation and car washing. I even placed a big printed note at the windshield. Hidden camera captured that the mechanic supervisor read the note, he wasn't aware of these requests. He then said "wala na pa lang gagawin dito eh so bakit pa nandito ito".
