A lot of people are still stuck in the outdated thinking of aftermarket = better.
Even here in Tsikot I've seen people advise to change aftermarket intakes, headers, exhaust as if that would automatically offer an improvement vs stock.
The reality is that many OE parts are so efficient and well-mated to the rest of the engine that going aftermarket often results in a net downgrade (e.g. you might improve top-end slightly but serverely compromise low-end pull).
ECU tunes are the quickest way to get modest gains nowadays with a real impact on your entire powerband as verifiable by a dyno.

So it looks like the safest way for increasing hrdprs (even just a little bit) is to just swap the stock air filter with a K&N replacement filter (not the performance air intake)?

Yup & saves you in the long run. If you don't wanna risk CEL from over oiling that drop-in, AEM (now a K&N brand) has the dry flow washable version. This is for the 2.0 Sky:

Hello guys. I need your advice sana. Today is my last PMS (3rd year). That means my car is no longer under warranty
What do you think guys? They have offered me extended preventive maintenance service which includes free filter and oil, but this time I need to pay their service of 3300 pesos. Should I avail that or there's a better alternative to that??
Second, they highly suggest the service that they offering which is Decarbonized (or sounds like that) for 4400 pesos. Is it recommended to get that? (Actually I need to decide in an hour, sorry)
Lastly, ngayung wala na siya warranty, ano yung mga things na pwede ko na gawin sa car. I'm not enthusiast naman, but of course, little improvement would be nice :D.
