got rocket specs. 100 amps, 182 reserve capacity, 870 cca. LxWxH= 330 x 173 x 232. Same supplier also has Atlas brand maintenance free, MF100, length is 325, width same at 172, height at 200. To compare, outlast brand super premium n100/6smf battery is 17 plates, 208 reserve, 120 amps, 530 cca, 410x170x230. Premium is 171 reserve capacity, 100 amps, 430 cca, same LxWxH.

Obviously, our car requires N100 capacity. I wonder if our battery compartment can fit a battery with a length of 410mm, versus standard of 330mm. At least these batteries are cheaper than rocket, even atlas.

    Altec,

I replaced the alternator on my 2001 Carnival with the same 85Watt alternator. I am not sure changing the alternator to 110Watts is the right thing to do since the van is spec'ed to use an 85W alternator. The 85Watt alternator unfortunately cannot be repaired unlike the 110Watt version. Maybe the IC can be replaced but once the diodes are busted, you have to replace the alternator. I think the electrical problems you are experiencing may be due to a faulty alternator. Considering the number of batteries you have replaced, the batteries may have been damaged by that faulty alternator. Regarding smaller batteries being overcharged, I believe there is a cut-off switch for the alternator to stop charging when the battery is fully charged. So whether you use a small or big battery, the cut-off switch prevents it from being overcharged. The need for a bigger battery is to drive enough juice to crank a bigger engine and power the accessories, and not to prevent overcharging. I suggest that along with the alternator, check out the starter and the fuse box for busted fuses.

    Altec,

Mando is the brand of OEM alternators for carnivals. You can get it for 8,000 pesos at good gear as compared to 18,000 pesos at the casa.

If you're somewhere near in imus, cavite, there are surplus stores that sells mando alternators for carnivals for 3,800 pesos.

Hindi, sir. Worn out starter contacts yung dahilan ng hard starting ko tuwing malamig ang makina. I had them replaced a week or two ago and so far I'm back to one click ignitions.

My battery is Motolite Gold, which is almost a year old.

    ooops! my mistake, mikey.

btw, the alternator damage i got was for a noisy bearing, not the IC. but then, i remember having had the motolite excel battery replaced free of charge after twelve months. the replacement battery naman was misplaced at the hyundai casa in la union. you guys are advised to steer clear of that casa should you want to have service other than PMS done.

sorry for the gaffes above, altec. i am losing brain cells yata because i started induction again yesterday...

altec, i just took a measuring tape to my engine compartment awhile ago. the space for the battery is 350mm at most.

    Guys,
Maraming salamat sa mainit na pagtanggap nyo sa akin dito.
Actually, my wife has already set her heart on that specific vehicle. She is in Manila right now to get that car. And she would need to travel that through RORO to Iloilo.
And I am physically unable to stop her since malayo ako.
    Nasa 55T daw ang mileage.
That is why I am already preparing for future repairs!
And I would propabably need your help in the future.
Can I expect it from you, guys? As you are now 'experts' on this vehicle.
    TIA!

    Josiel:

Along Aguinaldo Hi-Way lang ito pre, just right after the welcome arch sa boundary ng bacoor and imus. Ipagtanong mo na lang doon yung SOFIA, ito yung place na puro surpluses ang ibenebenta. Puede pang tawaran ang price dependa na lang sa haggling powers mo.

    Aalen:

Pa check mo lang muna yung fuel return hoses mo. These are the thin rubber hoses that supplies/siphons the injectors with fuel. Just be sure na OEM product ang gamitin mo kasi pag replacement lang malamang tumagas uli dahil sa high pressure na dumadaan diyan.

To aaalen and dmopn welcome to tsikot.

the shop that installed the alternator was able to find another surplus 110amp alternator. Since malayo ako sa manila, at ang daming tanong ng goodgear sa tao na pinakaausap ko kung pwede magorder doon sa kanila, I decided to go for the surplus, hopefully di ito sira. 2nd, I decided to get the Atlas, cheaper than Rocket, but more expensive than all 3smf batteries. The highest ampere rating for the 3smf is 90 amps. MIKEY, the motolite gold is only 75amps. I decided to spend on the Atlas 100 amp battery, is because the added load on my car: headlights all 100w, bosch horns, DVD system with alpine ampli and extra sub.

If you have doubts on your ride's battery capacity, let me know. Hopefully, I have it in my car battery master list.

    Hi Guys,
My wife is now completing her trip from manila to iloilo.
No trouble so far, except for a tire blow out at 990 km.
She was mauevering after a break and hit the gutter.
She says she had 35psi on the Forceum brand of tires before she left.

My youngest daughter is enjoying the trip.
She is used to cold environment but this is the first time she is using a blanket. good aircon eh!

    Altec,
Can you tell me how much and where you bought the Atlas battery?
    TIA!

sent u pm. Since you need to replace the blown tire, suggest you look for a tire that has max tire pressure of 44psi. There are some 215/70r15 tires that have 35psi max and some at 44psi. 44psi tires are more durable.

Motolite gold is 73 amps pala, not 75amps.

Lowest I saw is 60 amps, highest, 90 amps.

oem setup for my sedona is ceiling mounted. Dami na mga dvd systems in the market. Just look for one that is not choosy and can read non original discs. Connect it to the car's sound system either through a direct jack if your tuner has a port for it, or using wireless systems, using an fm frequency. Some systems have a fixed frequency, generally 88.7, while some you can change frequencies depending on signal clarity. Depends if in Iloilo and all over Panay, what FM stations are in the general frequency of 88.7.

    Altec,

Thanks so much for the information.
Hopefully my wife could find it in Panay.
If not then, probably she would have to get it in Manila.
Does anybody here who can point me to the right shop for a DVD system in Manila?
We could compare the prices if she could also find one in Panay.
    TIA!

I suggest to check out the casas like toyota, mitsu. Their accessory shops already have dvd systems on display. It will give you a crash course on how it works and its setup. If in Manila, try Edsa Shangrila Mall, there is supposed to be an audiovox store, I think 3rd floor location, though its been a while since I went to Shangrila Mall. Their displays are also quite extensive. Blims is supposed to have audiovox also, though they are just an extension of the audiovox store in Shang Mall.

Thanks for the info. I'll look for a higher capacity battery after this one goes caput. Would appreciate feedback on whether the Atlas proves to be durable in the long run.
