Mikey177, friends,
No problem, kenzie.
Some Carnival owners have already gotten newer rides, since the Gen 1 Carnival was introduced way back in year 2000. Also, there is a separate thread for the Gen 3 Carnival. Tsaka, to be realistic, hindi naman ganun kadami ang mga Carnival sa daan kumpara sa Innova, for example.
These are some reasons that could explain why there are fewer posters here nowadays. As or myself, I'll probably continue to use my Carnival until it falls apart, just to see how far a Kia can go![]()
This is a rant against Kia.
Intriga talaga ako sa bagong Carnival. So on several occasions, I asked kia to give me trade in value of my 2003 LS sedona. Take note this is with OEM overhead LCD and DVD player, sunroof, etc etc. And then have upgraded the sound system, the horns, alarms, headlights.90% casa maintained and parts.
Their trade in offer: 250,000 pesos!! 4 year old local unit, losing almost 800,000 in value, or equivalent to over 75% lost value. With other brands, you don't lose 75% of the value in 4 years. Unbelievable. But it just goes to show the resale value of the kia.
What you can derive from this? It is not worth it to buy a brand new kia. But for a 2nd hand unit, its value for money. For me who bought a brand new local, masakit. But if I were on the other side, the buyer who will buy a sedona for 250,000, jackpot yan.
I know kia has low resale value, but never expected it to be this much!!
i just have one dilema i can't afford to have my carnival maintained sa Casa dahil alam naman natin na ginto kung sumingil at madalas hindi pa honest hindi naman po lahat....
i am mechanically challenged pro hindi naman po ako drive lang ng drive...pinakikiramdaman ko din naman ang sasakyan ko all the time. kung change oil lang every 5t KM and all the small things that needs to be changed ever 5K kaya na cgruo ng suking gasolinahan ko yun...pero yung dreaded oil pump chain / mga shifter cable, timing belt change hindi ko alam kung pede ito outside the Casa.......?
so far this is what ive gathered from tsikoteers.....
Aircon- Mang Mario
Suspension- Zee Carplus
Electrical- Rey's kaso medyo mahal pero maayos naman(any other suggestion)
Detailing- Big Berts
so anybody here from Marikina/Antipolo/Pasig/Cainta/Q.C. are that can point me to a good HONEST mechanic that can handle our carnival?
salamat po sana may makabasa at may maituro sa aking alternative other than Casa
That's a bummer, which is exactly why I'm just going to keep mine, maybe for another five years unless it gives me a real humungous headache
Try sending a PM to Diesoline. He sometimes has his Carnival serviced in Metro Manila even though he resides in Baguio.
I haven't set foot in Kia Quezon Ave in a long while, and I believe they have already moved to Pasig City. You can try reaching them at (02) 497-3678 or 682-5455 for your inquiries.
During the time I had work done by them, their rates were slightly cheaper than Wheels E. Rod. I don't know if the same holds true now.
What I know is that Kia Pangasinan prices for parts are more expensive than their Manila counterparts, which is why I prefer to have work done outside the casa as well.

Kenzie: taga-antipolo ako. i know a small shop there that i go to for vehicle maintenance. 4 years (although 3 months pa lang yung carnival) na ako nagpapagawa dun okay naman. pm me if you want more details
UTAKABO: sir you've got PM po, hope to hear from you soon
hanggang sa susunod na kabanata....kung wla itong thread na ito baka mabilis pa sa alas 4 kong binenta yung carnival but because of the Unselfish pipol in this thread eh malaking pasalamat ko at mas nakikilala ko ngayon ang Kia Carnival.......thanks po ulit............
bos altec; dat's true dealers should be the one to uplift their products, ba't ganun sila. 'had just bought 2002 sedona so far ganda ng performance and i'm planning to use it for family occasions till she disintegrates (bigat nata nun ah) kanina i went to world trade center i thought dun yun car show where tsikot members would be one of the sponsors d pala sa moa nga pala try ko punta bukas. sana naman wag mawala itong thread natin nakakahiya kaya merge sa new carnival old kasi saKin (he he he)
Altec and other Carnival/Sedona owners:
Don't be disappointed sa Trade-In valuation ng nakausap mo sa Dealer re your vehicle. As a matter of fact di mo rin actually masasabi na disposition yan ng "KIA" talaga sa sariling vehicles nila. That might just be the opinion of the Trade-In manager na nakausap mo dahil i-rerefurbished pa nila at papatungan yung price to resell it. Hehehe.
Doesn't necessarily imply na yan ang set market appreciation for the vehicle. A better gauge is to scour most ADs site or papers to get an average on how much other sellers are pricing their units and how much potential buyers are willing to purchase. On used car lots a 02-03 Kia Sedona is almost always pegged at 500-580K pa! At nabebenta po yan sa ganyang price, in part kasi may financing option sila. Pero for cash impromptu deals 450-500k for a "pristine" condition local unit is just right. We're talking about a 50-60% depreciation already for a 4-5 year old vehicle from brand new purchase price. Mababa na nga actually eh if compared with Jap brands.![]()
Mga Sirs I would like to get your opinion, interesado po ako sa 2007 carnival na test drive ko na din sya kahapon, the ride is good at pati yung hatak nya. Any comments po?
jay
bad luck!
yesterday afternoon on our way to my wife's ob-gyne, we figured in a fender bender along edsa (cor. connecticut). good thing walang nasaktan and the bus driver who bumped my car admitted in his narrative that it was his fault. i just need to get the police report tomorrow then talk with the operator. question: can i insist that my car be serviced in a shop of my choice - meaning that we just agree on a certain amount and let them worry about their insurance claim? my car is not insured and i have the apprehension that they would have it serviced in a shop of their choice - malaking abala sa akin considering that i'd be coming from antipolo and the bus company is located in bicutan. hindi ako compotable na iwanan yung sasakyan ko sa hindi ko kilala.
bad luck again!
this morning as i was parking my car i suddenly heard a "poof" from under the hood then the steering became hard. when i looked at it ,fluid is all over the engine bay and nothing's left in the atf reservoir. i suspect a busted hydraulic hose. anyway i have my mechanic coming over to take a look.
There have also been comments on this thread stating that the brake pads of the Carnival wear out easily. Honestly though, I've had my Carnival for over 5 years and I've only replaced brake pads once, as far as I can remember. I suppose it helps that I do mostly highway driving instead of stop-and-go traffic driving, hence less wear on the brake pads.
Regarding the difficulty in sourcing parts --yes, I also experienced this when my Carnival was only a year old and I suffered a cracked windshield (natamaan ng bato sa highway). I had to wait more than a month until the next shipment from Korea arrived before I could get it replaced. I have firsthand experience regarding this --I parked too close to a protruding rock when we went to Subic, and the bumper got deformed. I was surprised when I backed up and looked at the bumper again, back to normal shape sya, may konting gasgas lang yung pintura.
Sorry to hear about your misfortunes, bro. I have no experience in dealing with bus companies, but I suppose it would help to be assertive regarding your claim. Kung mukhang mabait ka kasi, baka pagsamantalahan ka (speaking from experience too, although not in a car-related context)![]()
Mikey: tnx for the advise, i'll keep that on mind
my suspicion is correct - busted hydraulic hose. it's good to have a trusted mechanic, he had my rig towed last night from mandaluyong to antipolo, hopefully matapos ngayon. and if the bus operator is cooperative then i will also have the damage fixed in the same shop.
ingat mag kapatid, lalo ngayon madulas ang daan.
happy motoring!
and if work is suspended due to the weather, happy weekend na rin![]()

Thanks Mikey177 for the reply just the answer Im waiting :-)
Guys what type of carpet or matting do you have on your Sedonas?
Mine comes with a Vinyl type (utility-ish looking) but doesn't have any spikes so it moves out of place.
Custom Carpet type matts already costs 4.5k up, 3M pre-cut is more expensive.
Been wondering baka may alam kayong bilihan ng spikes that can be adhered to my existing floor mat para di na magalaw sa carpet. Yung kagaya ng spikes for the 3M Premium Matts sana. Been scouring ACE, Handyman, and other stores pero all they have are those velvet type patches pero mahal at mukang di rin kakapit sa carpet eh.
Will appreciate your inputs guys! More power to us...
