Biodiesel works wonders sa smoke problem ng carnival. washing the exhaust pipes also. as in sasaksakan mo ng hose sa exhaust pipe, what until mapuno. start the engine and rev rev rev it. magugulat ka sa itim ng tubig na lalabas. hehehe.. just repeat the process until clear na ang tubig. but i suggest ipagawa mo na lang ito sa gas station. Baka paluin ka ng misis mo pag ginawa mo to sa bahay niyo. :D

mura lang ang strut bushing, 60 pesos lang yata isa as far as i can remember. and kelangan mo magpalit ng apat.

ah kung ganun nainject na rin nila malamang ang ball joints tsaka rack end. di ako nagpa convert ng shocks ke cruven/toti kasi nagle-leak din pag tumatagal. so parefill ka ng parefill. mura lang naman ang shocks ng carnival. i used KYB excel-g last time.

wag ka magulat, 32k ang ginastos namin sa oil pump chain na yan. dami kasi pinalitan at mahal din ang labor kasi madaming tinanggal to make way in changing the oil pump. pinost ko pa dito sa thread ung mga parts na pinalitan waaay back. :D

just yesterday nung kaka park ko dito sa house namin, i notice something dripping from the front of the carnival, more on the right side..i smelled it and it smelled like diesel...

tiningnan ko kung san possible at pinakamalapit nang gagaling ang tulo, and nakita ko na parang, still not sure, ung throttle body ba yun? kung san kinakalabit ung parang throttle para mag rev ang makina....

ano ba ang part dun na pwedeng tumulo ang diesel?

guys baka may nakaka alam kayo kung anong sira ito? amoy diesel talaga ung tumutulo when naka start ang kia...

BTW kia carnival pala ang ride ko....

natatakot kasi ako na baka tumirik na lang ako pag ginamit ko pa....

I agree with benchph1, atleast once a month flushing will lessen the black smoke. It will also help if you follow periodic change oil every 5k kms., I've been doing it religiously and I noticed less smoke coming out of my tail pipe even if I haven't been flushing the exhaust pipes regularly.

mura lang pala strut bushing, I guess mas mahal pa labor sa parts pag nagkataon . Im not sure if the shocks are worn-out or needs refill, ano ba symptoms if ever, may rattle din or kalampag?

surprisingly, medyo nawala yung grinding sound after change oil last weekend, natakot ata si arnie dahil mahal pagawa

have you checked the engine block? it is possible there is a leak somewhere in the return hoses. There is the tendency na mag-overflow yung naipon na krudo kaya natulo, hindi kasi sya visible unless you remove the plastic cover.

Guys, I have 2 questions about our ride, sana meron makapagbigay ng inputs.

aircon - is there any way we can make the front blower stronger? I had the evaporator cleaned less than 2 mos. ago and I barely noticed any diff. in terms of "lakas ng buga". Is upgrading to high rpm blower motor an option?

a/t transmission - this is my 1st time to drive and own a matic. With m/t, there is clutch lining, pressure plate & release bearing that we replace when clutch starts to slide or whenever we experience less pulling power (hatak). What is the counterpart for auto tranny or what do we need to replace if ever? A mechanic recently told me it doersn't have clutch daw, how true? If ever, a/t oil are replaced, but how often or where can we have that done?

Hello peeps!

I've been out of circulation at this thread for a while, wala masyadong problem sa ride namin e. But because of this thread, I learned what to watch out for.

A few months ago I've been hearing an intermittent whining noise when I turn my steering wheel to the left. Di naman palagi, siguro once a week lang.

Then last week while stepping on the gas and turning slightly left sa skyway pababa ng amorsolo, the whining noise appeared, at mas malakas kaysa usual and I could feel a slight vibration on the steering wheel and gas pedal, parang maganit lang. I stepped on the brakes slightly and the noise disappeared only to come back when I stepped on the gas pero pahina na nang pahina until the noise disappeared altogether. I immediately went to Kia Alabang to have it checked.

They looked at the underside of the sedona then one of the mechanics drove it around pero wala silang makita. Observe na lang muna daw.

Di na ulit bumalik yung noise until this morning when I drove to work, parang mas maganit yung tunog ng engine pag apak ko ng gas and may loud whining noise sa background. Nawala din sya after I left our subdivision.

Hayz... now I've prepared a tow truck's number para kung tumigil na lang bigla coz the only way to find the problem I think is for the part to completely break down...

I haven't checked it kasi di na masyadong lumilitaw tsaka wala naman nakita casa kaya nakaampante ako konti. I should've asked them to check the main pulley and bearing pala.

Pwede ko kaya dalhin to sa cruven sucat? sila ang malapit sa amin e. I'm from Paranaque po. Naghahanap ako ng okay na repair shop kaya lang wala akong masyadong alam e.

Check mo sa may bandang fuel filter. Kapag nakaharap ka sa carnival nasa kaliwa mo ito. Check mo baka maluwag pagkakabit ng filter or may damage ung lines.

Could just be an idler bearing kung "whining" noise. Kung naririnig mo ito habang lumiliko, Baka may leak ka sa power steering.

You're right, there's a very small leak on the powersteering fluid hose. Naka-schedule na nga for replacement with kia alabang, sabi ko sa kanila sabay ko na din sa 45k na maintenance nya.

Whew. What a relief. I was praying it wasn't an oil pump chain problem.

Badtrip, sabay-sabay ang problems. Kahapon when I entered my Sedona, hinila ko yung door knob na sliding to put in my bag, naputol yung parang screw na naghohold sa side na malapit sa driver's door, yung pivot na part para mahila yung lock. Waaaah! To fix this, do I have to replace the whole assembly? Gusto ko na lang sang lagyan ng metal from one of my son's toys tapos superglue ko e... kaya lang di ako marunong magbukas nung door panel.

bench, it's the pivot pin that the handle attaches to.

praetor, since you're going to the casa anyway, have them do it na. it's relatively simple for them to install that pin.

my passengers have already broken the pivot pins on both of my sliding doors before. i had one done by a banaue boy who fabbed up a pin with wire (alambre, the stiff type). when the other pivot pin was damaged, i had a repair shop in baguio do it. no parts bought on both occasions, labor charges only.

Btw, has anyone experienced a grinding sound during start-up but also immediately disappears? Eto na kaya yung oil pump chain problem na common sa carnival? mine is 01 LS A/T btw.

Mine is manual tranny. I experienced sometimes that when I start my unit, especially during early morning, I could hear grinding sound but when I step on the clutch it disappears. I think my case is different kasi yung suspect mo ay nandoon sa oil pump chain.

Hi, I'm a newbie in this forum. Can anybody recommend a shop or mechanic that can clean my intake manifold? I was reading the earlier threads about the gunk build-up in the manifold and I did see it. Unfortunately, I just removed what I can reach and from what I can see, there is still a lot inside. BTW, I live in Pasig and owned a 2001 Carnival. Thanks.

my post is for praetor.

may bad experience ako sa mga gumagawa ng power steering hose sa tabi-tabi, sinubukan ko lang once. well to make it simple di nila na solve ang leak sa p/s system ng carnival ko dati.

wala namang kinalaman ang matigas na rubber hose sa leak, IMHO. kasi sa crimping usually nagkakaron ng tagas.
