I actually brought the Carnival to Kia Marikina this morning since it is just 3 blocks from my work. The foglamps are working, I was in panic mode yesterday with the stereo, so when I pressed the button for the foglamps it was off, not due to circuits but because I forgot to turn on the lights first.... .

The only problem now is the stereo head unit. It is constantly ON but cannot be controlled.....
jordan, i assume that you have the original 2din unit. you can try resetting the head unit by pressing the small button in between the cd eject and equalizer button near the upper right corner of the unit. baka lang it might work.

diesoline -- yup, I have the original Alpine 2-din unit. The technician at the casa already did the RESET but it did not work..... worse, the previously playing cd was no longer playing and the MODE was in radio which cannot be controlled and turned off, so all I can hear is static.

This morning when I pressed the POWER button for several times.... it worked..... the unit initially turned off, then pressed again for several times, it went ON again.... I then immediately pressed EJECT button.... once the cd got out, I held on to it before it would go back in just like what happened the last time, but this time I was succesful in getting the cd out with some resistance... seemed like the cd was being sucked in again. For a while, the unit was working, was able to SEEK a station directly from the unit and from the steering wheel control.... but after a while it turned OFF again on its own......

I'll try to turn it on again tomorrow..... hope it will work without a hitch.

Jordan, went through the same thing. The local car-radio-repair guy eventually surmised its the chip the interfaces with the steering wheel radio controls that's causing it. He cut the wires (I think) and the head unit still works, sans steering wheel control.

This morning, I pressed the RESET button when the POWER button did not work, and to my surprise, the unit now is working properly including the steering wheel controls. Seemed like the CD inside the din was the culprit, once ejected, everything was fine. Not using the cd until after the holidays.

Now, the problem is, How do I set the Channel buttons? I tried seeking the stations then pressing a corresponding number but it doesn't work.

DacoTyan -- Thanks. I just hope it won't happen again with my unit..... sayang naman kung mawala ung controls sa steering....

yup! that's what the reset button is supposed to do. i usually reset the head unit when my pirated cds get stuck inside.

save your stations by pressing the corresponding number button for more than three seconds. you will know that you have successfully saved it when the preset number appears on the display.

that's what I did, but it reverts to the very first frequency which is 87.++ ..... or maybe I wasn't pressing long enough.... I'll try again tomorrow.

    Thanks again!!!

Another question: What is the size of the windshield wiper blades?

I googled for Bosch Wipers, and it stated that for carnival, it's 488S, but no measurement was given.

most probably. after tuning in to your desired station, press the desired preset number and keep on holding it until the preset number appears on the display.

re the wiper blades, the 22 inchers work fine with my carnival.

    balitaan mo kami benchph1!

i went to claro last week for a check up on what i thought were shot stabilizer links causing a metallic rattle on the front end of my car. upon inspection, it turned out that the rattle was caused by a missing bushing on the passenger side front suspension strut bar. the lost bushing was traced to a previous electronic wheel alignment job with a popular establishment in qc (most probably the service guys did not tighten the nut in the said strut bar -- the nut, lock washer, and the bushing cap were lost along with the bushing too.) good thing claro was able to fabricate the bushing cap out of a surplus pajero shock absorber casing! saved me the trouble of buying the whole strut bar assembly just to get hold of that darn bushing cap. will post pics of the affected part tomorrow.
