it's a gripe of mine that i had with the mechanic in cruven who did the timing belt replacement for me. he deemed that the water pump was still ok so he did not replace it. my carnival's water pump is still fine as of now but if it will break down, the same dismantling process to replace the timing belt will be done again just so to access the dang water pump. just a thought lang naman... have it done along with the timing belt replacement to save on downtime and labor cost. i think the water pump assembly is around P3k.

afaik shops here sell the headlight assembly only. carmelcon/fronte/goodgear na naman yan...

from wikipedia: hard to believe, they have an entry about the vehicle. no additional info about the diesel engine though...

In autumn 2005 for the 2006 model year, Kia introduced a redesigned Sedona offering features such as a 60/40 fold flat seat, power sliding doors and liftgate, second row power windows, backup sensors, and a navigation system (in Korean models). The new Sedona has a 3.8 L V6 making 244 hp (182 kW). Although its predecessor was often criticized for its 4800 lb (2177 kg) weight, which was far greater than its competitors, the new Kia van is more than 400 lb (180 kg) lighter.

The new Sedona went on sale in Australia in January 2006 as the Grand Carnival. It continues to be sold alongside the old model. The new model features a 3.8 L V6 engine, standard seating for 8, and a 5-speed automatic with manual shift mode. It is priced almost 25% higher than the existing Carnival, which continues with a 2.5 L V6. Sedona now boasts more room for seven and added cargo capacity.

The vehicle is offered in two wheelbases. Both short and long wheelbase models are available worldwide (with sales of the SWB model in the US and Canada commencing in October 2006). The "Limousine" model is sold only in South Korea.

The all-new Sedona earned a five-star safety rating — the highest honor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bestows — for all seating positions in frontal and side-impact crashes. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also rates the Sedona “Good” — its highest rating — in front, side and rear impacts. The IIHS, in fact, has christened the 2006 Sedona a “Gold Top Safety Pick,” making the Sedona the safest minivan ever tested.

Nakakatulo ng laway ang 2006 Carnival, pero ang tagaaaaaaaaaal nya bago ma-introduce sa Pilipinas. Tuloy, Starex nabili namin.

I think a poor understanding of supply and demand is one of the weak points of Kia. Point for point, if you asked me to choose, I'd have picked a Sedona over a Starex --these two were on my shortlist when we were looking for a van in 2002.

But how come there are more Starex vans on the road than Sedonas? Pricing and availability. There are Hyundai dealers in more parts of the country than Kia dealers, and there was no gap in the introduction of new Starex models over the years while we haven't seen Sedonas in Kia showroom for close to a year.

It's similar to Kia's Picanto fiasco. They came out with a trendy new model that sold like hotcakes --so much so that all stock was quickly sold out and customers grew impatient being on a long waiting list. In the meantime, competitors entered the picture with the Jazz, Getz, etc, and promptly seized the market share that should have gone to the Picanto.

Following this trend, since there are fewer Kia vehicles on the road, aftermarket support for them isn't going to be stellar, especially outside the casa. Small auto supply dealers won't stock up parts for the rare Sedona that conks out when they can make a bigger profit catering to the thousands of Innovas already on the street. That's why I had to order shock absorbers from Quezon City because I couldn't find a bloody pair after going through all the auto supply stores in Urdaneta, Pangasinan!

I guess it's not all Kia's fault, since they did just emerge from shaky financial ground, and Hyundai is essentially in control of the company after the takeover. However, for the sake of the consumers, I hope Kia gets its act together because I really, really, really want a new CRDI Carnival

nice post diesoline. Thanks. When I went to Dubai last summer I had a chance to actually get inside one of those in the showroom and wow!. I said to myself, this is the family car I'm waiting for. Also last May I went to Thailand, it is already available there but I saw the petrol version. The specs I posted earlier is from the one marketed in UK for the diesel version.

I ask my agent in Cebu and he told me with disappointment that they themselves want the new model but management says, they have to introduce first this year the new Sportage and maybe, just maybe, by first quarter next year the Grand carnival will be introduced.

San ko ba makita yung GoodGear in Pasay City, pareho din problema ko e, due for replacement na yung axle boot ko. Otherwise, please post their contact numbers. Thanks in advance.

I've been reading this thread and I just wanna say somthing about the KIA dealers here in the Philippines. I own a Picanto and I'm choosing another car or a family car. Right now I'm looking at Tucson, Sorento and The new carnival. I must admit sa Hyundai maraming choices or variants like the tucson, starex, getz. Pero I really like the sorento. Pero parang nagiba na gusto ko when I saw this parang eto na gusto ko. Roomier kasi. I ask the local dealers pero Hindi nila alam kung may dadating. Minsan nga I'm think to go to Columbia motors myself to tell them to change their marketing strategy. Para kasing nauunahan sila ng Hyundai e. Kasi sa mga variants, accesories at parts lang ng Picanto, Sorento kulang kulang na. Pero if you check to other countries like Singapore may mga SE+ pa sila na Pica at Sorento I think. Bottom line is sana maging competitive naman ang Columbia motors at dalhin lahat dito sa pinas. Hindi delayed at bare editions ang dalhin dito.

You said it, uwak18. Dapat mag-browse ng Tsikot forums ang mga opisyal ng Columbia Motors at Wheels Inc para malaman nila ang pulso ng motoristang Pilipino.

Actually they do as my agent said. Manhid nga lang mga tao na nasa taas. With their success in their annual sales of the Sorento and the Pic, they could have done a killer punch with a killer product like the new carnival.

The problem is that they are overstocked with the previous model of the sedona and they want to exhaust one more year probably to get rid of it in their showrooms before the latest model is ever introduced.

What I foresee and my agent agreed is that if Columbian would be foot dragging on this, it could result in slowing down KIA's momentum to gain a sizeable share in the market and the brand name's popularity.

So expect that some gray market guys would bring the new carnival sooner than expected to fill in the gap. SANA naman yong mga taga Columbian makinig kayo dyan sa pulso ng bayan. BRING THE NEW GRAND CARNIVAL NOW! Why wait for next year eh????

ferdine, what they have on stock are the gas engine sedona, which will never become popular as its a gas guzzler, ESPECIALLY NOW with skyrocketing fuel prices. If I were Kia, I would try to find a way to install those LPG conversion kits into those gas sedonas, and maybe they will be able to dispose of them. As is where is, not a lot of people in their right mind would buy a gas sedona, especially when there is now a crdi starex.

Dapat talaga ilabas na yang carnival. gawa kaya tayong petition letter sa columbia motors. If don't do anything malamang hindi tatagal ang kia dito.

Goodgear is along Taft Ave., Pasay City (tel no. 833-8392/5110376), lapit lang sa Pasay Rotonda, tanong tanong mo na lang sa mga tao doon alam na yun. I have just replaced my left & right outer axle boots last 14 July, casa charges 1,600 each and 896 pesos for labor per side, no deal! went to goodgear and got OEM parts at 800 pesos tapos pinakabit ko na lang sa suking shell service center, labor ko eh 250 lang per piece, excluding tip doon sa mechanic. Goodgear also sells replacement axle boots at 130 per piece, kaso sabi ng mechanic walang warranty sa tibay noon.

Might as well post Fronte's tel no. again here: 712-0864/7120919

jabr::: You can upload your photos to the Tsikot Car Gallery and then post them on this thread afterwards as long as you know the URL of the photo.

You can refer to this step-by-step guide I made a few pages back. However, now, instead of getting the UBB code, you have to right-click on the image once it is uploaded to know its URL. Afterward, you attach the photo using the "Attach Photo" icon (the one showing a mountain with a yellow background) and pasting the URL there.

Great new carnival!! It just puzzles me that they exposed the sliding door runners unlike the ones in the older carnival, which is concealed under the rear window. I liked this feature so much in my carnival since it's the only van with such feature. Unlike the starex's, ventures, etc. which had this deep gash on their sides for the sliding doors.

I noticed the windows were smaller but adjustments could have been made. I guess it would have looked better if Kia maintained the hidden canal.
