bisoy, i don't know if your model comes with abs. But abs hard braking shouldn't feel like that. When you hard brake with an abs system, you would feel it with the brake pedal, not with the whole body. Patingin mo na lang sa shop.
Additional info: actually, there was already a discussion here on the differences between the local carnival and the local sedona. Engine: Its basically the same engine, but with some parts modification. Aside from the oil pump chain mentioned by mikey, the fuel priming pump and the fuel filter is bigger. But be careful, when I had my priming pump changed, they installed the old, smaller design, and in the casa's computer, they are priced the same, but the filters are not interchangeable.
Headlights: Carnival uses 2 h4 bulbs, sedona uses 4 h7 bulbs.
Dashboard: Carnival's dashboard is similar to the ae92 90 corolla, where it slopes downwards towards the passenger side, while the sedona is more balanced with a top dashboard box aside from double passenger side dashboard compartments. Instrumentation is also different. Aircon switches for local and imported carnivals and sedonas are different. Carnival odometer is mechanical, sedona is digital.
Sliding door: Both uses dual sliding doors, but the sedona series are improved with a door open lock that prevents the door from sliding shut especially if the car is on a downhill slope. with the sedona, you need to press either the inside or outer door handle to unlock and slide the door closed, a very useful feature to avoid accidents from sudden door sliding closed.
Hello Everyone,
It's been a while since I have visited this forum. Anyway, I am here to ask if anyone here have experienced having difficulty in shifting from Park to Reverse or vice versa. It seems when I shift to Park and vice versa, the shift knob is a little hard. Anything that I should be worried about this or is this normal? I haven't experienced this before and I have a Carnival 2002.
Bisoy,
How much did it cost you to replace the front brakes?
TIA guys.
i think i spent around 3.5k for the front brakes. it should be cheaper if you can buy parts outside. here in cdo, walang shops nagbebenta ng mga kia carnival/sedona parts. kahit air filter!
Very true.
I got my brake pads for P2,500 at Fronte earlier this month. Does anyone know how much they cost at Karmelcon?
SOS.
My van's power steering fluid level went from Max to Min in about a week. Any idea where the leak is coming from?
Just went to CarCon shop in QC last Saturday and found that my auxilliary fan --weak motor-- at the front was not working at times unless makalampag...they recommended for a surplus --I got mine for 1200, from Cefiro daw un-- and now the coldness is back even during noon time. Hope this helps!Originally Posted by hinlog
Kharmelon sells Carnival front brake pads for php 800
And rear drum brake pads for Php 1200
for customers outside manila, Kharmelon banaue ships door to door. just tell them the parts you need and pay to their depository bank.
Bisoy,
My front rotors were resurfaced as recommended by my mechanic when I complained of the vibrations/shudder when suddenly braking
Hi rodski. Sorry to hear about what happened regarding that incident with the underbone bike. I hope you and your family are well in spite of it.Originally Posted by rodski
Anyway, I just wanted to ask how much the general cleaning of your aircon system cost? After 4 years, my Sedona is also experiencing these symptoms. I've had freon charged 2 times in the past 3 months so there must be a leak somewhere in the system.
The local aircon repair shop said a new evaporator would cost me P8,500, but I deferred having the unit serviced until I gathered more info from this thread. Paano ba malalaman kung may butas nga o wala ang evaporator? Baka sabihan ako ng technician na may butas ito pero wala naman talaga. Bakit kasi ang layo ni Mang Mario sa Pangasinan
P.S.
I already found the source of the leak in my power steering system. It was one of the power steering bypass hoses, which I had replaced at Wheels E. Rod while I was in QC. The hose cost P250 only, may libreng engine and body wash pa![]()
mikey 177:
nice to hear that you've fixed your leaking ps hose, same problem with mine when i first acquired my pre owned carnival unit. though it only cost me 65 pesos/feet of the hydraulic hose and ang labor eh 150 pesos lang. heard that you've bought a new crdi starex... gud luck on ur new ride. binyagan na yan hehehe

OO nga, ang lakas talaga managa sa presyo ng casa. Anyway, we went to Wheels E Rod to bring home our new Starex, so I took the opportunity to have the power steering leak of the Sedona fixed too.
Personally, I still prefer my 2002 Sedona to the 2006 Starex in terms of build quality, ergonomics and creature comforts.

Try 414-3989 for Karmelcon. I don't know if they've changed numbers though.
hello to all,
went to kia las piņas today for the pms, everything went well except when the mechanic told me that i should replace my damaged axle boots (outer). when i inquired about the price: casa quoted me that it costs 1,600 each and labor is 896 per side. mabuti na lang at medyo late na ako and need to use the car tommorow kaya hindi ko muna pinagawa. after we left the casa, i called good gear in pasay city and inquired for replacement parts. the sales rep quoted me only 130 pesos per piece..... grabe talaga ang mark up sa casa. mabuti na lang at medyo gipit na ako sa oras at medyo naligtas ako sa sobrang gastos hehehe
in addition, rainy season is at hand. kia mechanics advised us na dont ever try to drive your car in deep floods. several units were brought in for engine overhaul because nabingkong daw ang mga pistons(???) due to the flood. puede ba mangyari yun? ask ko lang mga pre.tia!
Yup, that's a universal truth. Is the axle boot different from the CV joint boot? I'm due to have my left CV joint boot replaced, and I got it for around P300 at Kia Dagupan since it's very hard to find any Sedona parts in our neck of the woods.Originally Posted by jabr
Regarding the tip about floods: with all the electronics in these modern vehicles, I wouldn't dare risk bringing one through deep floodwaters. At most, I would forge through water as long as it is below the center of the hub. I don't want to risk having rusted/broken wheel bearings again.

hello mikey,

Hi Peeps,
Just want to know, if others tried and will recommend to use Bendix brake pads in their Kia Car? How much does it cost as well? Thanks in advance.
