aside from the oil pump, the damaged part was the crankshaft (note that this part alone is 27k casa price). cguro frequent change oil lang to take care of this problem.
sabi ko, bka naman nakasynthetic sya, not sure yung service but they advised me not to use synthetic. di ko alam kung may basis yung advise na yun. hehe anyway, i am thinking na frequent oil change is better than synthetic for the carnival so it is still up to the owner.
i've also noticed some sounds coming from the plastic mouldings sa interior sa gen2. might be true for gen1. not sure if its just my shocks causing the plastics to vibrate or is it just the rubber between the doors. I might try using armor all sa rubber door sidings baka mawala yung rubbing sound.
other than that, parang wala na...ive read one post about a toasted AT. not sure how common this is, pero i've also heard of this sa mga second hand auto sellers. pero personally, no problems encountered on my AT, I even went running uphill on the cheapest gas station ATF sa banaue province wala naman naging problem. now I switched back to dexronIII.

note pala na japan made yung AT nito (based on the steel plate attached to the AT). i was expecting korean made pero I found out about this nun binaba yung engine, japanese made pala. can you guys comment on this?
also Question to the experts:
I've attached a picture of the hose near the intercooler. is the one marked with red the one that we need to clean or place the OCC? (see pix)
tapos, anybody who has an idea about the stock alpine radio (see pix). wala kasi akong manual. parang may clock settings ito looking at the LCD pero I don't know how to activate it (this is easier to look at rather than looking up the time sa built in clock ng carnival). not sure if I can add a changer or buy a remote for it din.
anyways, any help would be appreciated. tia.

August 24th, 2005 03:09 PM #495nakakatakot pala tong oil chain bumigay ah. so frequent oil change should be enough? frequent meaning every 5k kms naman noh? 80k kms ba nga kailangan palitan yan? nasa preventive maintenance schedule naman yan?
just to update u guys.... we closed the deal at 440k. i will get my carnival by the end of next week. excited na ako. i hope there wont be surprises sa otong ito.

August 24th, 2005 07:19 PM #496bisoy, what year model are you planning to buy?? just to let you know, i sold my 2000 kia carnival LS last 2003 for 480k, so for me, 440k is a bit on the high side

ok na rin yang P440k for the 2000 LS. nasa few 10s of thousands na lang naman yung diff between this price and what we perceive to be fair market value based sa mga ads sa buy and sell. by definition, fmv naman is the price agreed between a buyer who is not obligated to buy and a seller who is not obligated to sell. aside from objective factors like the new a/c compressor, meron ding comfort from buying from someone you know.
bisoy, congrats on your new ride!
