August 22nd, 2005 05:59 PM #471Bisoy, welcome dire sa sedona forum! Ikaw ba ang bisoy didto sa f1clubphil? Going back to tagalog, check out motioncars.com. Yung nasa review nila, yun yung gen1. Notice the front, the dashboard, the rear. Gen2 is like the pictures of leolop's ride when he was thinking of buying it. Notice the difference in rear lights, and more so with the dashboard. The seating configuration you mentioned meron sa lahat ng gen1, and was the original setup for local gen2, already renamed as sedona, while gen2 is called carnival park 2 in korea. My sedona is still in the shop but I recall reading the manual and it said max roof load is around 150kgs or was it 300 kgs? Konti lang ang kaya ilagay sa roof rack.
Lensio, ang gandaaaa ng front grills! All of them! Except di ko type yung side skirts. Tama, di bagay ang sporty look sa sedona/carnival.
Speaking of my ride, tumawag ako sa kia. Sabi nila confirmed nasa injection pump ang problema, may dumi. Di pa daw affecting, but later on it will cause smoke belching, and lower power output. I asked if they have injection tip/pump cleaner like mitsubishi motors, wala daw sila. Sa kanila, dapat ipadala sa calibration to have it cleaned. But he has to send a report to manila to inquire if this is under warranty or not. Sabi ko, whatever it is, Kia still suggests to have it calibrated, which means opening up the pump. It's better kung original di ba? So I plan to pull it out while waiting for the reply of Kia Manila. In the meantime, I called up the Australian who supplies me with superior oil/fuel additive. Nag set kami either Thursday or Friday pagbalik niya from Bacolod. We tried in our trucks yung additive niya directly on the injectors to clean it up, nawala ang bara o ang smoke belching. We even tried that on pumps that were noisy and clunky, tumahimik. Since they are planning to open it up, sabi ko subukan ka na rin. Who knows, baka maayos.
When I asked what kind of filter is on my sedona why nakalusot pa rin ang dumi (take note they drained the sedimentor, walang dumi o tubig lumabas), it was already the new type (attention lensio). Kakausapin ko ulit yung tao bukas when I pull out the unit and let you know.

August 22nd, 2005 06:12 PM #472yes, im bisoy of f1club pero doon lang ako bastusin :D matino ako sa ibang forums bai!
thanks for the input altec. matanong ka pala, how do i access the roof rack? i plan to put a carrier kasi sa taas. i havent seen a carnival with steel ladder sa likod. someone suggested stepping on the side after sliding the door open. pero parang di pa rin abot yung taas eh if i plan to put some boxes. ok na yung 300kgs na capacity sa taas. most luggage naman are bulky but not really heavy.
whats a fair market value of the carnival i just mentioned? i will be talking to my friend tom kasi.
saan pala ako makakuha ng mga accessories for the carnival? any shops in mind? phone numbers and contact eprsons please?... thanks

altec, good to hear that the cause is known.
btw, OT: im planning to use biodiesel soon. I've been reading the thread (ang haba na kasi nito, mejo lampas halfway na ako) and it proves that
bd has a lot of positive effects for our Vs.
after po cguro malaman how the dirt got into the injection pump. might try it out.
actually, a friend of mine who used to work for sea oil recommends it even before pa lumbas sa market. sabi nya it was also tried on their sea oil ships...malaki daw ang natitipid sa diesel.

Sorry, wouldn't know about fair market value for year 2000 Carnivals. You could try checking Buy and Sell, or maybe ask around at a bank.

August 22nd, 2005 08:26 PM #475I saw on carfinderph.com a 1999 kia carnival park offer price 449K, looks like the sedona so gen2 siya. Normally carfinder prices on the high end. But is an indicative price. Meron pa iba, sa autolink.ph pero offline ang site ngayon. Gives a good guide to going rates. But you have to be conscious to determine the model type, not based on the registration year because of gray units. Mas maganda ang gen2 than the gen1 and its not just aesthetics. Major differences: dashboard, side doors, headlights and tail lights.

bisoy, welcome to tsikot.com and to this thread. i went to thule san juan last year for a look-see at their products. they have installed carriers to many carnivals and sedonas but they suggest replacing the stock cross bars supplied with the car with new thule bars. while the stock rails (the bars that run along the length of the roof) have good rated load capacity daw, the cross bars don't.
lensio, ok nga mga grills ng ixion. i also like the crate like 2005 grill carnival grill that was displayed in your website. lensio, pwede pa-check din ang vin ko? i bought my locally on feb 2004 but the seatbelt tag was dated sometime 2003.
altec, can you please elaborate on the carnapped korean units? update us too on your upcoming superior additive experiment.

bisoy, welcome to the thread! why don't you ask your friend to take pics of his unit and send them to you. in turn you can post them here so we can get a better idea of what your buying.
during my search for a car, i came across a local gen1 2000 a/t model of carnival being sold in automall in pasay. it was the LS variant, the more expensive one. makinis and original pa ang paint and had 60k mileage on it, supposedly previously owned by a pop singer. the last price of the seller was P430k. i thought it was pretty good purchase.
buy and sell on line also lists several units in this price range. here's what i found at their website www.buyandsellph.com :
CARNIVAL SEDONA 2002 535,000 M/T, new body, loc ver, very fresh, TDIC, all power.
CARNIVAL LAND 2001 438,000 (neg) M/T, green, 60Tkm, EP #4.
CARNIVAL LS 2001 510,000 7seater, Capt seats, red, w/ VCD.
CARNIVAL LS 2001 498,000 A/T, 1st owned, financing/trade-in ok.
CARNIVAL 2000 435,000 (neg) M/T, diesel, EP #3, 87Tkm.
CARNIVAL LS 2000 450,000 (neg) M/T, turbo diesel intercooler, all orig. CARNIVAL LS 2000 435,000 (neg) M/T, TDIC, all orig, 1st owned.
in the end, i took a chance on a repossessed gray market generation 2 carnival which was represented to me as 2 years old but turned out to be 4 years old, but this is not a good barometer because there were risk factors (could not test drive, not used for 10 months, negligent seller which didn't show the age truthfully) not present in other units in the market. not too mention magagalit na naman si altec at diesoline at bumababa resale value ng kanilang mga units each time i mention it. hehe.
altec, i don't even want to think about my carnival being carnapped! basta buyer in good faith ako. glad to hear that your car has been diagnosed. that's half way to solving the problem.
i've had my unit for 6 days now and i've logged only 140 kms on it with daily use, igsi kasi ng route ko and alangan pa ako itakbo outside of metro mla. i guess it will take me about 1 month and a half to use up 2 full tanks before changing my fuel filter as recommended on the biodiesel thread.

Are they on track to surpass last year's sales?
