sa signet ko na rin ipinagawa yung carnival.

hopefully sa saturday daw makukuha. and sana walang makitang iba pang sira.

funny. left side sliding door handle din ang nasira sa akin. i've posted it on this thread before. iba ang handles ng carnival sa sedona, according to them. but im dumbfounded to see the difference. maybe sa loob. and, when you buy a door handle kasama na yung plastic garnish which comes black from the factory so youll have to paint it to match the body color.

one door handle assembly costs 1,200.

Thanks benchph1. Kia Delta told me the same thing, that the base comes in black and needs to be repainted to match the color of the vehicle. If the part cost you PHP 1,200, how much did Signet charge for the repainting and installation?

nakakaasar kasi people who are not familiar with opening the sliding door's mechanism tend to make puwersa if they can't open it the right way.
3 days after i got the carnival (2nd hand) the lever of the driver door broke. the replacement at the casa was a little over P500.

as for the sliding door, mahirap talaga buksan. the best method i've found is to pull at the handle while simultaneously pushing outward with the elbow

For folks looking for Carnival sliding door handle-driver side, my father-in-law bought one at P500- at Fronte.

repaint and installation is free. they mismatched the color though.

hi am really new here and would like to ask your opinion about my idea of getting a used kia carnival, preferably a local version, first how do i know if it is a local unit or as they say surplus, second how many of you have clock over a 100kms am looking into a diesel pref matic second prob manual , am just afraid of some forums which i saw a lot saying that the diesel engines had a design flaw which before reaching the 100kms odometer reading would have problems about the cylinders moving out of place which eventually mixes oil and water and of course having to have engine reworked as in the sleeves or cylinders set right again , have been thinking of getting one of the used carnivals, but recently settled for a kia pregio matic instead , i stumbled across this forum and seems you are so many and still happy with your carnivals thought i could seek some advice about this before i finally do get one and just want to know that i am not going to get myself into troubles and headaches. thanks

    hi,

you can also try CarCon in Proj 3, the owner Loloy personally oversees the work...medyo maliit lang yung place pero his clients are primarily around Katipunan. I could not locate his number but his location is 100m away from McDo, dun sa may mga nakaparadang tricycle, itanong mo lang ang CarCon.

    hope this helps.

    Hi beejay.

The surest way of knowing that the Carnival/Sedona you are getting is a local unit and not a grey market one is by asking for a copy of the sales invoice and warranty records issued by the casa.

I have a 2002 manual tranny Sedona with the normal turbodiesel intercooler engine, di pa uso CRDI nun. I have travelled 151,000 km with this vehicle to date. My regular route is from Urdaneta City to Tarlac City and back. No unscheduled repairs have been made to the engine. I have had the timing belt replaced twice (both scheduled maintenance items). My only major hassle was when the shifter cable broke about two years ago (search the earlier pages of this thread, andun ang kuwento). I had my front evaporator replaced two weeks ago when I had a general aircon cleaning done --there was a pinhole leak that was causing the aircon to lose cooling efficacy every 3 months.

If you can get a 2nd gen Sedona (2002 model and up) instead of the 1st gen Carnival, that would be better IMO, as some improvements were made in the 2nd gen such as sturdier oil pump chain (according to casa service advisor), lock open sliding doors, etc.

got the carnival from signet yesterday.

total bill was 35k. whew. the most expensive repair bill we've ever paid for our cars. the bill balooned to that rate because i also opted to have the timing belt and all idler bearings replaced. and also while they are at it, also requested to have my a/t fluid changed.

of course no more grinding sound in the morning. J3 engine sounds a bit more "crisper" at idle now.

ill post the part nos. later of the parts replaced so you guys can use it as reference.

thanks mikey for the info so you mean as it is you have no major problems with the car, so maybe if i can dispose of my pregio may look into it then , also always thought that a sedona was gas and carnival is diesels , anyway just like kia cars since i have a friend who deals in parts so i can get them relatively cheap but the carnivals or sedonas with the australian forums which kept saying that they have problems with the sleeves or cylinders moving out of place so did not get one instead went with a pregio so maybe if one comes along from a trusted friend would get one thanks again for the info .

    hi beejay:

AFAIK, the v6 gas versions were the ones mentioned in the australian and u.s forums. Those units allegedly consumes/drinks coolants due to microscopic differences in the length of the cylinder liners. In fact, one of the posters here in this forum encountered that problem on his gas v6. There is still no issue about defective cylinder liners in diesel versions.

I am one happy owner of a pre-owned carnival (2001 ls). Reading all the posts in this thread had given me the resolve to dispose my previous ride and buy a carnival, no regrets with my decision.

guys, but do you also experience outer tread wear on the rear wheels of the carnival? i rarely have load at the back except on weekends and my tire pressure is 34 psi at the back.

i'd just bought 2 rv501s for the front and then saw that the rear wheels were going to need replacement soon, too. haay...

The sun is finally out after yesterday's typhoon

Anyway, I checked my rear tires and I didn't notice any significant outer tread wear. YMMV.

Don't have problems with the rear tires. It's the front ones that never seem to get aligned, I always get outer tread wear.

hi mga sir! just wanted to ask what's the main differences between a carnival and a sedona?

i have a pajero subic right now and my friend wants to swap his 2000 Carnival LS manual trans. Anything important I need to watch out for aside from the normal checks for acquiring a 2nd hand car?

I checked the carnival kanina, mukang ok naman a bit fresh pa. just need some minor repairs, like the left sliding door is a bit sticky when opening it, and some other minor things. It has 2 captain seats and the 3rd row folds forward and is one piece, instead of the 2 piece version that folds sidewards.

I hear there's mga 1st gen/2nd gen, gray market, etc. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance mga sir!

    mikey, diesoline, salonika,

thanks for the replies, pero ang bobo ko, what i should have typed was INNER tread wear in the rear wheels. jeez hi-nighlight ko pa. actually i've always thought that inner tread wear was common at the rear since that's what i experience in other vehicles.

i have a pic, i just can't find the damn SD card adapter.
