    peeps,

just new here. My family plans to buy the sedona and indeed your experiences on the rides helped me. I have read some of your attestment though have not completed reading them all (as I'm just using a dial-up).

According to the agent, what is available now is the sedona RS/LS, both using 2.5L KR V6 engine. Anyone here who has owned one? Big difference ba when compared to the previous diesel engine? Overall din, since dami nang nabago from the previous carnival model, and now the sedona, may big difference din ba?

Hope you can help me... or point me to the right page/link.

    Thanks and kudos to all.

    welcome to tsikot, armanski.

most guys in this thread have diesel carnivals. only a couple or so posters have the v6 model. a guy i had small talk with over at wheels (he and i were having our cars serviced) said that his sedona v6 is a bit thirsty on the fuel. overall, he was also happy with his unit but he said he would have opted for the diesel if it were available. anyways, try asking the wheels agents handling kia to confirm mikey177's balita that they will be stocking crdi sedonas next month.

anyways, keep checking this thread. baka a v6 owner might post his/her comments on the car sooner or later.

I get about the same mileage as you do as my daily commute lasts only about 10 mins in moderate traffic. Frequent braking, speeds less than 50kph, short short trip makes for lousy mileage.

Yeah... maybe they're preparing to release the 2006 model.

    Hello Guys,

I just heard from Kia QA that all Carnivals that reach 70K km are required to have there timing belt changed. There was a service note release a few weeks back becasue of failures in indonesia and malaysia of the timing belt above 70K km. So I'll have to have my carnival serviced for that before the 90KKm schedule. 67k km na ang carnival ko.

    tnx

Thanks diesoline for the quick tips. Indeed, nakatutok na ko dito to find out the advantages if getting the v6. I actually tried inquiring if the diesel variant will be available... which they say it won't (btw, sa SIGNET mandaluyong ito).

I will try asking sa ibang dealers if this case is true. Tama nga kayo, yung sa Makati is really not that helpful... pero itong sa Mandaluyong, mukhang helpful naman and even offered some freebies. This i have to see kung ma-sustain niya until the end

i jst remembered talking to the service manager here in kia cdo (sterling motors)... he said he already has cases of failed oil chain and timing belt gone snap. so he said he advises na papalitan ito at 60t kms for the first gen carnival daw. one instance happend at 55k kms lang daw pero puro long drives. yung isa naman mga 80k kms. whew.... nakaktakot rin pala ito. mine is already at 51k kms. siguro sa 55k kms, ipapa change ko na. at least may peace of mind na ako. although puro short drives lang ako.

i jst want to remind u guys to also change/drain ur transmission oil from time to time. this is one of the most neglected PMS and it kills your trasnmission!

Thanks Rodski for that. But would this be a defect that KIA as a company should address inclusive of the cost involve? Tanong lang baka makalusot and as a group eh maka-claim....

[COLOR=Red]Thanks Diesoline ..thanks for the feedback... I do hope we come up with a sedona/carnival group owners so we can refer this to Sedona buyers.. in that way they can be well informed of the van they are looking for.

When I step on the brakes, minsan umiilaw yung brake sign natin connected to the foot brake natin (instead of the more common hand brake). When I let go of the brakes, nawawala siya. Sabi ng kia daw might be the ABS. The problem is it doesn't happen all the time, nor does it happen on a specific type of braking. Minsan, hard braking, wala, minsan, downhill meron, minsan wala, minsan, braking while the car turns umiilaw sabay ng the warning beep sound. Anyone experience this also?

Guys, pasensya na, hindi pa rin natapos ang scan ng manual ko.

Daco and bisoy, mababa ang below 6km/liter. I get over 6km/liter, minsan above 7 km/liter. And take note this car almost 5 times per week, may idling ng 30 minutes kasi sa kotse kumakain ng lunch during school breaktime ang mga anak ko. On ang kotse pati ang aircon, kasi while eating, nanunuod ng dvd.

At what interval should the transmission oil be changed? Hindi ko po mahanap sa manual ko yung info.

P.S. My Sedona has now travelled over 100,500 kilometers in three years time. Kailan kaya dapat i-overhaul yung makina nya? This is my first diesel ride, so I don't know what signs to look out for to indicate that the engine needs to be overhauled already.

altec, mababa pala sa akin kung ganyan... ill try to check the usual stuff like the air cleaner, atf, etc.... tnx

mikey, u only overhaul an engine pag sira na. pag wala namang sira, no need of overhauling. ang pinaka kontra ng makina ay overheating. dnt forget to change oil na rin every 5k kms..... syempre isama mo ang change oil filter nyan.

re transmission oil, once a year pwede na or kung high mileage ka, every 20k kms. this might sound low to some people coz ang PMS ata is 40k kms.... pero para sa akin, maliit lang na gastos ito for that peace of mind na walang mangyari sa ride nyo.

    Altec,

The brake warning light lighting up is a sign that the level of the brake fluid is low. This happens when your brake pads and shoes are worn out. This happen to me. Don't fill up your brake fluid because when you replace your pads or shoes the brake fluid level will return to full.

So far I had two brake pads in the span of 4 years. I choose to use the orignal brake pads because although mabilis maupod makapit siya at hindi sinisira ang rotor. Other brands have more metal filings that tend to scratch the rotor.

The first set of pads only lasted 20k km. When signet replaced it with their new pads it lasted me 40K km. So sulit na din.

The brake shoes is still original so next pm ko papalitan ko na rin. 70K km sounds good to me for the life of the brake shoe.

    tnx

    Rodski

OT with one year to pay for my carnival, ok bang i preterminate yung loan para ma transfer na ang ownership sa akin? Makaka mura ba ako pag ganoon? The reason is so that puwedeng ibenta t bumili ng new generation 2006 sedona.

This is good news. They're pricing the Sedona competitively with respect to the Grandis, Venture and Previa.

mikey, re the overhauling, diesel engines are built to be more durable than gasoline engines. the engine in my patrol has gone past the 350000 km mark and all the engine had gone thru was a calibration. that's why diesel engined vehicles are more expensive -- compare mo prices ng regular matrix vs the crdi matrix.

Thanks for the welcome, nice talk to others who believe. Certainly don't have any misgivings about my Carnival.

Diesoline, I'm also from Baguio (Sablan actually) and I always like bringing the Carnival home during vacations. Nothing beats it going up the long uphill stretch in marcos highway - 3rd gear pa.

i really love that stretch! it shows what legs our kias have got. it gives you an impression that the vehicles you just passed were just parked.

sablan... i have good memories of a small restaurant near the town hall that cooks a helluva big portion of their signature pork dish!

Last time I ascended that stretch I was already using biodiesel... it may sound unbelievable but my speed in that ascent made me want to shift to 4th gear. May bonus pa -- walang usok. Kia diesel engine + biodiesel is really tops.

    Tapos kain sa Comiles.

My Carnival is already at the 112000 kms mark (3 1/2 yrs) and does not show the slightest need for overhaul. I had a Nissan SD23 P'up that reached 200T kms before needing a top overhaul, di pa major. Diesel engines are really for the long haul, alagaan mo lang sa langis.
